Sewing tip here- generally, you should take in the leg on the outside seam.
The reason is- the inside seam is cut with a specific shape/width so that the pants don't pull or gape too much with your legs together or apart. If you change it, you're increasing the space between the legs which will make the pants/shorts pull when your legs are together.
You can see this on the final picture of the shorts, how it's pulling on his legs, eventhough he doesn't have his legs together. They'll likely bunch a ton when he sits in them.
(Also, this is a super easy thing to do, you can just fold over the seam and sew by hand. I'd recommend sewing the classic in-out stitch to doublecheck your fit- it's easy to rip; then either go over it or resew with a backstitch. With handsewing on pants or shorts, you'll want a strong stitch so you don't endup ripping the seam when wearing or in the wash- like I did.)

I agree. I've tried the inside seam with shorts. It turned out awful. It makes the shorts bow inward and looks weird. Same with pants.

I just got a sewing machine because i was tired of paying $15 a pop for easy hems. I think this is one of the most useful skills a man can have. If you can be your own tailor for some of these easier jobs, why wouldn’t you?

Thanks for a great video, I always love watching others do the hobbies I love. I had just done a pair of shorts this week and it was a funny golf pattern print, which added the difficulty of the matching thread at the hem. When finishing the hem it would either match one or the other color so I could go a big contrast to both, which I did as a test and it looked meh. Then I ripped out those threads, redid the hem length and did a blind hem with transparent thread. Preserved the pattern beautifully while adding that slight bit of flexibility since I don't own a cover stitch machine.
Im here because i got some ill fitted pj shorts. (Alas the size chart wasnt accurate and my mesurements were on the edge so i sized up).

That sewing machine is fancy! LoL been meaning to change my 15 y/o sewing machine that I bought for $45 bucks. It does most of the task I wanted to do with it, but it is temperamental.

I wear Vintage 505 shorts (From the 90s)
They are above the knee and I fill the thigh out due to exercising my legs quite often. However I wear boots with my shorts. I love the look but I'm open to any opinions to this. Any suggestions?

Could you make a video on how to fix the width around the waistline? Is it possible to do? Or should I just buy new ones.
Too complicated, just get a new one.
Put the shorts on and pinch and pin the waist until it is comfortable. Measure what you pinched. Turn them inside out and measure and pin that amount on the rear seam. Taper it down the rear end gradually so it doesn't pucker. Baste or pin the entire thing and try on again. Sew when satisfied. Lots of videos on altering waists.
I did this but it left the to part of the shorts look weird and bulky in the mid section. It looks really big there while the legs look slim so it looks weird. Seems the body of the shorts also needs slimming. How do I do that?

The shirt has too many colors so i recommend you to go for white or black shorts or choose a colour the shirt has for shorts !
