I still believe the easiest yet prettiest small alteration was the orange dress!! It looked so pretty after you fixed it!! But also the jeans with the gold embroidery must have been hard but the results paid off!!
I've been thinking about altering that dress for years now and I'm so happy that it's finally done!! Omg the jeans took FOREVERRRRRR like the whole first day of filming this
this proves how you don't need to be a professional tailor to get really good results! i'm on a one-man mission to alter my whole closet too, even if the stitches are a bit dodgy, the fit is the most important thing!
the more you do it the better you will get!!
i mean, it's better to have a go at altering something even if it doesn't give you professional results... if it means you'll wear the thing more often then you've succeeded, in my opinion
I mean i could tailor my clothes but I would have to do it by hand because I cannot for the life of me figure out a sewing machine even after multiple tutorials
@@kokoro_suisen yeah i was shown too I still dont get it
@@kokoro_suisen yeah i learned in person, still didnt help
Girl I just needed to tell you how you've influenced my way of dressing.
I've gone from years of wearing all black, then fading into a quiet depression with my clothes by hiding behind baggy stuff I've had for years... To not buying alot of clothes, but diving into the mujeres of my family's closets and going back to my love of thrifting.
I went from being afraid to be looked at to going full monochrome, wearing all my dream pièces, being playful with my style, and most importantly loving my vessel again and feeding and treating her right.
And today, the universe sent you to make me bring out my sewing machine and finally splurge on that mannequin, to alter the pile of clothes that has been sitting here for months.
Love you byyyyye
this message made me so happy!
babes you did FIFTEEN alterations, that is such dedication oh my goodness!
I DONT KNOW WHY I THOUGHT I COULD FINISH IT IN A DAY 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@YOHOMEGIRL A DAY?? it would've taken me weeks just to find the motivation 😂
Love this! 💗
To prevent puckering, don’t sew to the bottom of the dart, make your line attached 3/4 of the way down. I hope I’m explaining that well. 🤞🏾
What is the make/ model of your sewing machine?
Amanda!! Thank you so much for the tip!! I have a Juki HZL-27Z! My mom was really surprised at how well it did with all the projects ^-^
Wait, could you elaborate on that solution - that would be so helpful!! takin gin the waist with a dart is def one of my long procrastinated projects, esp on denim bc I dont want puckering or the waistband to be too thick once dart-ed.
@@quimenga when she shows the bottom of the dart (the point) and states “this is how far you can go down” .. don’t sew to the point, connect your stitch 3/4 of the way down from the point.
TIP: (try not to curve your seam)
@@amandatyler6050 thank you for elaborating! I will try to wrap my head around it lolol and try it out on some scrap fabric first to see if I'm doing it right XD
I need to learn your wayyysss!!!
this is the video to do it!!!
I have no experience whatsoever with sewing but this video encouraged me to do some type of research and learn how to alter my clothes 😂 especially while I'm trying to revamp my wardrobe!
yay that makes me happy to hear!!! I forgot to mention that the fingers method can be done with just hand stitching! please give it a try Armani!
My mom had to alter all of my pants growing up because I had really weird proportions and I'm glad she taught me how to alter clothes too. I was always really skinny but eventually also grew and clothes would never fit on my waist and my leg length at the same time. I still always get the butt gap so learning how to fix that issue specifically was very important for me. You can do a lot of these alterations without a sewing machine too you just need more patience if you hand sew but it's totally possible I've shortened jeans by hand.
This was also my reason for getting a sewing machine a few months ago and it has been so liberating and opening my eyes to all the possibilities!
Yes most definitely!!!! I think i need to look at more how to sewing videos to get more ideas heh ♡
I never realized how much better properly fitting clothes looked on a person until I watched this video. This gives me the motivation to practice and learn how to alter clothes properly for myself and others. Great video!
I Absolutely LOVE that you give us a little dance for every try in!! Fun vibes every time!!!
You already know!!! I always have the jams on!!!
Love this! When resizing darts it can really help to put them on inside out and pin your new sew line, and also to extend the dart a little bit further so that the sew line can merge into nothing as gradually as possible (the less abruptly the dart ends, the less chance of puckering) and agree with the other comments on ironing! ✨
Just wanted to say I wasn’t expecting to be the most impressed at the way you speak about your body in relation to your clothes. No dialect about “oh now I look skinnier” or comments about how the clothes present you to others on the outside. Only comments about how the clothes make you FEEL after you change them. Amazing and inspiring
Totally agree.
I'm so glad I found you. Thank you for the real ness and the quickness of your narration!
aw yay thank you!!!!
Well done for getting around altering your clothes! 👏🏻 I think some of the pants especially the pink pair mainly needs a good press on a tailors ham to look like it has less puckering. A good press on a dart makes all the difference! 😊 Also, love your thread holder hack 😍
Ooo okies! Good to know! Thanks Matti 🥰🥰🥰 yeah my sister really helped me cause i bought all this thread and then was like omg wait it doesnt fit!!! Hahaha
That waistband situation is a struggle, I gave up doing that to a pair of jeans and just accepted that they were gone lol 😂 you did an amazing job with all these projects, it’s reminding me that I have things to alter too!
girl, that japanese denim is absolutely stunning!
Isn't it?!?!?!
It's so fun watching you and all your projects, it really motivates me to get up my ass and go do something productive 😂❤️
Aw yay!! I'm so glad to hear that!!!!
Hi Nathalie, I want to start by saying that I've been subscribed to your channel for about 5 years and I always enjoy your videos!!
Thanks for the tips, I have the same problem!
First off, thank you so much for being on this journey with me for 5 freaking years!!! Omg insane!!! And second thank you so much for those tips!!!!!!!
@@YOHOMEGIRL Thank you Nathalie, for all these great years!! ❤️
girl body looking good for reals!!! yaa
Yo girl- this was before that trip to America... that body us long gone now 🥲🥲🥲🥲🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@YOHOMEGIRL well at least that’s how u know u enjoyed it😹
girl with how much you took off that purple skirt you can definitely make it a two piece set so cute!!
Definitely will be doing another video with the scraps from all these projects!! :)
Yesss, love that you’re getting better/more confident with your sewing machine! My fav was the colorful blue dress- so cute!
I’m so happy you made this! I have so many clothes I hang on to because I really want to wear them but I can’t seem to dive into alterations. This gave me a little push to go ahead and do it
It's amazing how much better clothes look when they fit. I love the way you make alterations, I am always pleased when I meat people who sew the same way I do. I feel vindicated, because I can still hear my Home Economics teacher chastising me.
I LOVE how colorful your wardrobe is
Thanks so much!!!!!
Omg. I have so many of these projects too. You have given me inspiration to get them done. And I love that your alterations aren’t exactly finished perfectly but they still look amazing! Great job!
The style of clothes + the music choices are
*PERFECT*
Aw thank you Abby!!!!!
Thank you for also talking about things that did not work out how you expected (for better or worse), it really helps me think through the best methods for each piece I want to alter!
oh of course!! thank you so much for watching homie!!!!!!!!
everything fit so good on you !!
Children's theatre teacher here! Thank you so much for this! I was never big in costuming and now I'm starting from scratch. This makes it so much easier to understand.
Aww the kids are lucky to have you as a teacher! ☺
Yo Homegirl, I started sewing classes last year to learn how to alter all of my wardrobe as I started to lose quite a bit of weight. I learnt how to create a garment from scratch, even creating the pattern myself, but I was left with no confidence in altering. This video has helped massively, and I love how care free you are with it 💛
This was so enjoyable to watch! I love this sort of diy videos thanks so much for all the helpful tips!
You are my kind of sewer. You are care free and make it easy to follow
Oh wow thank you so much 💕💕💕
My first video that I watch of yours love your personality! Def inspired me
You have saved a life with this video, I swear. I lost 6-7 fingers off my waist and hips in the past couple of years and it's either get a whole new wardrobe, pay big $$ for alterations or learn how to do this for myself. THANK YOU.
This was super inspiring. I have always wanted to learn to sew 🪡 well and alter my clothing because I’m tall so pants always fit weird on me and high waisted skirts and jeans are super flattering on me. Thank you for making this!
You did such a good job with these! Great vid, feeling inspired fer sure✨️
Omg all the alterations look great!
Ah the green dress came out so beautiful it looks so good on you!
Always so amazing when things youve been putting off gets done! Looks great!
yeah seriously! I felt so accomplished at the end!!! Thanks Hajar!!
@@YOHOMEGIRL needing to leave the country is great motivation too!
Hahahah very true!!!
Thank you so much for this video, I was this close to cutting up 6-7 of my denims until I found your video last night and altered all of those denims and they're perfect!
You've gained a subscriber, more power to you and thank you ♥️✨
Omg seriously?!?!?!?! THAT'S AMAZING!!!!
Lost 60 pounds & am ALL OVER THIS VIDEO! Thanks fm LV!
Bro i have always been messing this up by taking the dart too deep... wtf this is a lifesaver i had no idea what i was doing wrong.
thank you for talking about the "dedos method"!!! i thrift the baggy jeans i wear and take in the waist, so next time i need to take in my waist more ill definitely try to do it your mom's way!
This is a really fun and useful video! I'll be using dedos from now on!
yayaya im so glad to hear that!!!!
this video is everything! LOVE IT, so inspiring ㅠㅠ
Aw thank you 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
Lol you are so cute. I’m going to try and also alter some stuff. This was great inspiration definitely pulling out my sewing machine.
this was so inspiring omg, you're so talented!
aw thank you sososo much! Im happy that it got you inspired!!
Great video as always ! It gave me the courage to finally alter a pair of jeans that was way too long, thanks !
So many of them were so simple! Shows how easy it can be
I love ur content so much 🥺
Hello! Big fan over here. I just wanted to add my two cents on the puckering issue. I sew as my hobby and part of the puckering issue you are having is that you are backstitching the dart at the end. You should backstitch at the beginning continue sewing to the end but do not backstitch when you get to the end. Just sew until you have sewn off the fabric . Pull the thread a bit (gently) after lifting the foot to create a tail and then cut the threads. Just tie the threads by hand to finish the dart then cut the loose threads. Secondly, it is very important to iron the dart down. You could face it to the center but the ironing will help a ton with any slight puckers. There are other factors like thickness of the fabric that contribute to puckering but for the unlined pants/skirts these tips should work. I know this video is from a year ago and you may have figured it out by now but thought I would share 😊.
I have been binge watching a lot of your videos, you choices and style of clothing is so me! ❤️ I love color and clothes in my closet is full of varieties of colors and textures. I enjoy mixing, matching and creating new looks! I also feel good and happy when watching your videos and I get good vibes. Thanks for the straw/bowl thread spool tip! 👍
Oh yay glad that it helped you out!!!

Thank you Jamie!!
Thank you so much for making this easy to follow!!
omg that was such a worry of mine! So glad that you found it easy!!!!! :)
I want your wardrobe omg
This was super helpful! Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much! I have a skirt just like your first project. I wasn't sure if it could be repaired or not. Now I know!
Oh woohoo!!!! Enjoy your new skirt!!!
Great alteration tips!! But I have to be honest ... your nails are the reason I subscribed!!
I love this kind of videos!!! I think im gonna try doing it to haha
Yaaaay do it up!!!
my grandma is scary good at altering clothes. she can look at you and know exactly big or small it needs to be. that's what i hope to be able to do because i am mad tired of measuring everything.
Those are some really great tips. Thanks!
to help with the puckering i was told to sew in more of a curve rather than a line. don't secure it with sewing back and forth just go off the fabric (never leave even 1mm of fabric left, try to go off the fabric as smooth as possible with a nearly paralell line) and secure it by tying the two threads.
Thank youbfor sharing! I get alot of inspiration from it 😍😍
No problem Emy! Thanks for watching :)
Can’t believe I missed it 😭😭 here I go, man this is going to be great I already know 🌝
it is insane how many cool pairs of pants u own
Hahaha thank you!!! 😍😍😍😍
Your colorful pants are so cool!
Thank you Amaranta!!!
You are really good at that for not being a professional and only self taught!
I’ll be heading home for work during the broadcast but wish I could be here to chat. Y’all have a good one! Will watch the replay 😁
Get home safely bb!!! I'll see ya in the next one :)
Funny watching this while working on my sewing machine lol
I love this!❤️ I've also been doing a lot of upcycling of my old clothes and it is great, it gives a second chance to things you like but don't really wear. I have a few videos on my channel of this, and more to come. 👉🏻👈🏻
I personally don't alter jeans because it can damage my sewing machine. I've had to turn down a couple jobs because of this. But those golden thingy jeans are a piece of art, they deserve it! 👑
I think maybe with the straps of the orange dress you can take the elastic and make a belt for it 🤔
Love your videos! Saludos desde Argentina!
Your videos are the best i am super inspired
Me inspiró a arreglar mi closet jajaja me encantó!
DEDOS PARA DIAS!!! 😂love this method
This is huuugely motivating, thank you!@@ doesnt have to be complicated just has to get done.
To avoid puckering at end of darts, try ending your dart just short of where it tells you to and tie the ends off by hand instead of backstitching at the tiny part
6:20 she’s talking straight to me bruh 😂 have like 20 things I need to fix since forever lol
Hahaha. Go get it done Zurisadai!!!!
You got so much done! 😍👍
I was crazy to try to do this all just less than a week before I left.. but I finished it!!!
love watching ur videosssssssss
Thank you sosososo much Shana!!!
You should get a ramen bowl, it has these dips to hold the chopsticks (10:57). This way your straw hack and bowl would work better since the straw wouldn't move around as much
Thanks for all the help!! Such great tips! How did you learn how to do all this??
Love your thinking ❤
Wow, super Natalie ;) All the items are super Stylish girl
Thank you Marishu!!!
This taught me SO much and I dont even know how to use a needle and thread
omg that's amazing thoughhh!!!
For years I thought it was just me who measured hems with my fingers. This skirt is 4 fingers too long, etc. I thrifted a couple of skirts that are too big so I was going to put in darts on the back waistline. Thanks for the inspiration!
I always admire people who can do these things. I have zero talents
Love the denim skirt.
Love ur style
thank you so much homie!!!
More videos like this! Loved it! (:
Appreciate your effort!!💖💖💖
Thanks KT!!
I truly loved this video. it's incredible how many clothes we have wasting that we can fix by doing one of those simple tricks and give it a try, so thank you so much for this video.
Omggg!! New vid!! ♥️😍♥️😍

Thanks so much Gülnihal!!!
@@YOHOMEGIRL ❤️
I love this sewing content even tho 1) I don't own a sewing machine (yet lol i'll get one someday) 2) most of the sewing I do is doing the "dedos" trick on pants that are a bit too big by hand sewing
Motivating AF! 😊
You got this homie!!!!
i do all my repairs the exact same, they're not perfect but they work amazing!
Exactlyyyyyyy. We're not seamstresses, we just trying to get these pants to stay up okay 😅😅
