After this trains lead engine blew up and caught fire, they needed a way to get the train on the move again. The plan was to get another engine off an oncoming train and that's what they did, in the video you will see the engines switching back and forth to get the newest engine off that train and put it at the lead of the military train and leave the damaged engine where it was trailing the new leader. Also a local train appears with a GP40-2 and Slug set. 3 Trains in all in this action packed train video filmed in and around Dun Kirk NY the week of 7/20/17

I can't understand why people still die at railroad crossing. The horn on those power units are loud enough to wake up a dead person it's hard enough not to hear an approaching train.

Interesting that the SD70ACE was the one to have the 710 engine explosion! But thankfully not the brand new UP ET44! Good thing it had enough horsepower to push the dead weight of the SD70ACE and pull the military train into the small yard. You did an excellent job of capturing the whole situation! Though would've showed the fire truck as it's 9ne of the main parts of the event!

I see that you subbed to me thanks. I guess I need to do more train sim on my channel. I love trains. Love the power. I am no means an expert on them. My mother had a boyfriend who was an engineer (I guess they're called drivers now) and when he passed through he would toot a special tool for us. This is in a small village and in the 70's so they rules were different. Stream is cool, but I like diesel more.

I'm curious who owns the tracks, I'm guessing CXS does with UP granted track rights. But why would UP be this far east?
So basically Union Pacific carry’s military Stuff because it has flags on some locomotives. Now CSX is here help the Union Pacific that is basically broken down or something maybe CSX can now aid Union Pacific.

After the engine explosion on the lead locomotive in the UP military train had help from CSX when the trailing unit lead the train to a yard when CSX leant a locomotive to continue the journey.
It was odd coming across this today 08 08 22 and my encounter. NBSR sent a GP-38-3 and 2 MP-15's light east to aid a train heading west hauled by 2 GP-38-3' sandwiching 2 slugs that stalled on the grade while hauling 50 plus cars. must have startled the crew.

yep that poor jimmy (slang for any 2 cycle gm diesel engine) launched a rod. took out the blade and fork rod. the rod bearing was laying next to the door. ...they do that. and when they do its quite spectacular...
At of all the trains the could have caught on fire, it's this one.

Probably not ... the fire crew killed it with water. Now it'll be a big rusted block of scrap by the time they get it into a shop.

Elliot - engines in worse shape than that get repaired, I highly doubt they would just scrap it. Worst case scenario is they swap out the prime mover and replace whatever electronics were fried.

What direction was this train heading? It has me a little stumped can't be NY Army National Guard as they were in Australia for an Exercise during this. The units at Ft Drum were all accounted for in my records so highly unlikely to be them either. Looks to be a engineering unit of some sort.
This one was west. Im my military trains playlist there are both easy and westbound trains
Holy Moses I'll bet the GVT and Department of Defense was throwing a shit fit!!! Those are ALL new armored MRAPS, APC'S, Oshkosh Defense LAV's and transporters , all that's goin to the middle east and can guarantee there was some ass chewin going on. Not to mention the chain reaction that fire caused that will delay transport vessels, and flights. Ouch.

Conductor is riding illegal.....FRA always got my switchman doing that and wrote him up on it. I couldn't break him on his habbit.
I don't think in this case, that locomotive was disabled from the explosion and the engineer was in the unit behind it and I think the conductor was acting as his eyes if you will.
@@WideWorldofTrains got be on one side or the other, can not be in front of the chain....in other word he needs to be on one side of the step well or the other...visible to the rest of crew....Incase of abruptly stopping he can flip over the chain

Disrespectful of the flag. They should always close the access panels after a locomotive blows up and catches fire so the flag is intact.
The what ? Probably wasn't anything left to close after that big ass piston ripped the hinges out when it passed through.
