- Well I got a few new baits recently and after chuckling at the names I decided to rover a wild section of canal in the hunt for some predatory species. Pike and perch were the target. Now the weather is getting cooler its the perfect time to get out for those toothy critters. It was great fun tempting these fish out from there hiding places in amongst the reeds down the margins. Caught a nice little 2lb Jack with a salmo minnow (floating) yesterday. Cannot seem to find any perch near me though. The Pike are plentiful though thankfully so will going out targeting them with bigger gear as the autumn creeps in 😬

Your very disciplined with your fishing, I get stuck in a rut just using whatever the fish will take that day or when I take a perch rod pike fishing I barely use it because I'm fixated with catching the biggest pike possible. I've set myself a mission of catching a 20lb+ pike on a lure, so far this year it hasn't happened....yet!

I’ve had a few pike out of rydal water on lures and if your patient mackerel take a rapala x lite retrieved slowly
So many small cucumber pike this year and not many bigguns for some reason I’ve noticed that everywhere I’ve fished

Agm. .micro lures out of stock. .so size 12 hook with shot. .sg or bb. .works just the same
Funny how times have changed back in the sixties we would kill those pike looked on as pests it wasn't rght obviously but I think most waters had fewer but larger specimens. Cheers

At 13 minutes, Chris says about the boat which went through, muddying the water, to where it became almost zero visibility. I'm up in Rugby, Warwickshire, new to ultra light lure fishing (at 51 years old!) and ALL our canals are like proper mucky chocolate milkshake. What's the best tactics, are the canals even worth bothering with? Any help/advice much appreciated!
the canal i fish down in warwick are very chocolatey i have caught many pike and perch using small bright jigs

Hi! I just got my first baitacsting reel. I got a 0.20 mm line for it. Almost every cast i throw, the line snaps. Do you know why?? Help please.

@@The_ginger_fisherman I used, stealthsmooth spiderwire, and many others, its just sad, i finally earned money to buy myself my first baitcaster, but now i cannot use it.☹
Try checking the eyes on your rod, if the ceramic insert on one has any damage it may be the cause.
