    Love this video. I just began my locs myself and they are short so your video has helped me learn how to make and add my own extensions. I like the method of crocheting them in and then doing the dreadlocks because I do have control of it matching the dimensions of my locs. This will be a learning experience for sure to get the right amount of hair to create the loc.

    Love this. I actually use completely loose hair - and just attach it - then get it into my lock good and dread it. Seems to work ok for me.

    I just started my dreads like 4 days ago.😅 I actually love them so much!!! I made the mistake of leaving rubber bands in after needing them to section. They already started getting into knots😬. Thankfully, I cut them out! I will be adding extensions once my baby knots tighten a bit. They are already way tighter after a wash. Thank you for being a resource!

    Those three little guys really do give it a different shape! Still Loving the dread bob! It was nice to see how you just kept working the extension where it was attached. I was struggling with the straight ends from where I cut my hair loose from the weft. The pointy hair was so hair to tuck in. I was debating snipping some of the more stubborn pieces, but I guess I just need to be patient. Thanks Liza!

      Also, your TV tray dread station is so efficient! I was using a binder clip attached to my shoe to make my extensions! 🙈

    I’m African American and very confused by you adding oils to your locs. I know why I need oils, but I always told Caucasian hair didn’t need it. I’m locced since October and I’m in the teenaged phase. My hair has now started to elongate now. I love your hair!

    • @colleenmccabe6110
      @colleenmccabe6110 Před rokem

      I’m no expert but I think Caucasian hair get more oily when it’s brushed and the oils from the scalp go through to the length of the hair. When the hair is locked it can’t be brushed so the oils from the scalp cannot be distributed through the ends, therefore needing to add oils to the mid-strand and ends.

    This really strikes me as odd. I guess I cannot comprehend, as it would appear to me is the case here, how dreadlocks are worn simply as a style. I’m in no way being hateful or judgmental friend, I assure you of this. To each their own, I love being wrong. It’s wild how things go with any kind of ‘counter-culture’ that crops up in this country. You get your initial spark and wave of originality , kind of pushing the boundaries of what it is to be free, inside and out. Then expands until it becomes problematic for the top down ruling system, then it gets mostly pushed underground or altogether crushed into leftover pockets of peace. While the outer packaging, the styles, even some words and expressions, that came originally with that inner revolution, is packaged up and sold to the youth as cool. Being nothing more than styles that make people feel cool. Entirely confusing the mother loving light out of some folks. Locks are a powerful , ancient , and sacred art. It seems their might not being anything left in this world yet left undefiled. You my friend may very well not be this kind of person. I can’t really say as I don’t know ya. This work your doing surely has to help further along the general public’s acceptance of dreadlocks, so for that , thank you. Blessings to you and yours , B

      Brad 🙏🏻 thank you for taking the time to write this heartfelt message. I read everyone of your words twice. I hear you, and I apologize if it ever comes off as “just a cool style to me”. I mean, it is my favorite style but oh my, what they mean to me is hard to put into words... let me start by saying that I think now would be an appropriate time to make a video on cultural appropriation vs cultural appreciation. I have spoke of it in a few videos briefly (what to expect before you get dreadlocks and 100 reasons to not get them) but a dedicated video is probably needed/overdue at this point. I don’t want that to sound like I am some authority on the subject but rather my views on both. Talking to you as my friend, let me share that I did do my research on dreadlocks/locs before getting them because it was so important to me to know their history and want they mean to other cultures, why they had them, etc. I also know that I have white privilege with them and with that comes responsibility. Thank you for speaking so honestly to me. You are heard and seen and I will do my best very soon to hopefully explain my own thoughts about it all. Again, thank you so much. If you want to discuss more about it feel free to reach out to me on Instagram @liza_locs 💕🙏🏻 blessings to you and yours
