Great Title Match. Congrats. To Tom Crites and the Runnerup Don Genallo. Great match and What Nelson Burton said was true about the alleys being laid down in sections. The pin deck area would cause. The Bowling ball to leave the alley for a split second, and that would cause corner pins to stay up even on Solid Pocket shots.

I like the rubber, plastic and urethane ball eras. Don’t care much for the reactive ball of today. I love the old commercials too. Ah, nostalgia…

In these old telecasts they show the alternate, does anyone know if an alternate ever got to bowl in a tournament? If they did replace a bowler, do they start in the fifth position?

No, alternate never got to replace another player on TV.
The PBA Executive Committee did away with the TV Alternate's position during the Summer Tour of 1985, I believe it was the week of the Austin Open.
Meaning that if a player was not able to complete a match then he would forfeit and they would simply move on to the next match.

anandguruji83 I’ve bowled there. When I made Friday in the tournament we moved 12 pairs between games. Between games 1-2 I stopped in the sports book, bet a Big East tournament game and on the way back between 2-3 I was able to cash the ticket!
