  • After almost a year of not having Old Bones, my 1993 K3500 up and running, I got him back and am putting him to use again. Brand new Engine with upgrades and he is running great. Few little things here and there I have to fix but so glad he is back at home. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to check out my other videos about Old Bones in the Chevrolet K3500 Playlist. Thanks and God Bless.

    I had a 97 still have GMC 3500 dually Sierra SLE... Had bought it not long before my boss had me climb a steep hill with a load of scrap... When I told him no steep hills.. before I check it out thoroughly.. it kind of screwed it up.. I changed a lot of parts.. but he gave me one of his collection a 1994 1500 GMC SLE 6.5 turbo diesel had to put tires a lot of parts.. had to put the pump mounted driver up front he said he changed head gasket it's showing 300,000 miles... He was supposed to take it straight to the junkyard for someone he had given it to previously somehow it got registered under another person's name unreachable.. covid-19 they weren't doing title searches.. I had to jump through hoops and pay $777 to get it registered in my name.…now he's saying it's worth $4,000 he wants me to pay him for it with work.. holy s***.

    I miss the sweet sweet sound of a 6.5! Bummer about the mechanic. Happy that Old Bones is back to original form as the General built her.

      @@SimplybEpic mechanic’s are some of the most fickle people I’ve ever met and they seemed so trustworthy up front until all the excuses start not wanting to finish the job or the quoted price increased without warning sorry to hear that what you thought was going to be a friendship went sour

    I've been enjoying your 6.5 videos. I have a '98 k3500 w/95k on the clock. and a '96 C3500HD dump truck which died a long time ago. I bought both new.
    You said that you put a "new" engine in it. Was that a used engine that was new too you, or a rebuilt ?
    I have trouble believing in replacing my 6.5 engine with anything besides a Brand NEW long block. But the reputation of the 6.5 kept me from ever pulling the trigger on a new long block etc...

    • @SimplybEpic
      @SimplybEpic  Před rokem +1

      Ron, yes it was a "new" used engine. Supposedly one with about 75,000 miles on it. It did run well though and never gave me any more problems. I did have it re-ringed though before installing it. 6.5's are a gamble in my opinion. Hard to spend very much money on them with all the issues and then still you're left with a truck that can't really pull much weight at a decent speed or incline. I have since sold this truck but have another 6.5 that is my daily. Don't really pull with it though. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Nice to see its back! just two questions, why didnt you swap the engine itself, its an quick and easy job, most of the upgrades are also easy.
    What was wrong with your mechanic, i thought he was big in the 6.5 world, i guess it would be bad comercial for him to burn someone else with alot of followers.

    • @SimplybEpic
      @SimplybEpic  Před 2 lety +1

      On the swap I had three reasons on not doing myself. 1-Time, just didn't have that much time to deal with it back then. 2-wanted to test out the mechanic to really get his skill and performance level based on yet to come projects and 3-I really did not have the confidence to do it back then. Probably do today but I have learned alot this past year. Mechanic was fine, I just went in with him on some projects to buy, repair and flip and he ended up flaking out of me. Cost me a ton of money but you live and learn. He did a good job on Old Bones and a couple of other projects but then fell apart. Thanks for watching!!

      @@SimplybEpic i understand, i always wish there would be more than 24 hours in day, so we could get more worked done, and learning new skills takes time. Good to see you take the problems with a positive attitude, its what keeps you going further.
      Good luck with the flip house, and hope the new engine lasts a long time!

    How much should I budget to do a similar update on a 1995 6.5 with 150k miles?

    • @SimplybEpic
      @SimplybEpic  Před 2 lety

      I would budget 4000. Now, it can be done for a lot less but if you are paying someone else to do the work it’s going to be 4-6. Depending on the engine you are starting with. Good luck and keep me updated!!!

    Old Bones is receiving too much fuel. Your fueler should be a 165 not a 195.

    I guess you can call it business.... drug business haha oops... Well I guess he's still floating just fine.. kind of hard to talk with somebody in that state.

    • @SimplybEpic
      @SimplybEpic  Před 2 lety +1

      Not quite on the business. Although, he did have some addiction issues that came out later. We were going to take older trucks, mostly 6.5 diesels, fix them up and sell. He was supposed to buy good projects, repair the engines if needed and then I would work on the cosmetics and get them ready to sell. Problem is he kept buying junk and basically quit doing his side of the work. Then complained about it was everyone's fault but his. I don't have the time for babies or losers so moved on. Lost alot of money and time but learned my lesson. Thanks for watching and commenting.
