      Dulse is amazing! Great video!
      Thanks for educating others on this amazing food. I put 2 heaping tbsps in my smoothie everyday.
      From my book:
      “Atlantic dulse: In addition to mercury, this edible seaweed binds to lead, aluminum, copper, cadmium, and nickel. Unlike other seaweeds, Atlantic dulse is a powerful force for removing mercury on its own. Atlantic dulse goes into deep, hidden places of the digestive tract and gut, seeking out mercury, binding to it, and never releasing it until it leaves the body. Eat two tablespoons of flakes daily, or an equal amount of strips if it’s in whole-leaf form. Note: As it comes from the ocean, if you are concerned about the dulse itself having mercury, be aware that Atlantic sea dulse will not release any mercury it might possess into the body. It holds on to the mercury as it works its way through, and even grabs onto other metals along the way and drives them out as well.”

      I would love to add dulse flakes into my diet, but I am little uncomfortable as usually it is not washed, when they harvest, they just remove some debris, then it is sun dried...so I am thinking bacteria....any thoughts or opinions please?

    If anyone is in need of bulk dulse 10 pounds or more feel free to reach out. I harvest dulse in the summer months on the east coast of Canada. Most people never get to expierence dulse dry and crispy as it comes off the spreading ground. It's typically sold in its slack softer form. Do your selves a favor and try it crispy fresh. Cheers

      bad health is what is expensive. I am vegan and do not buy animal products
      which saves me $; I would rather buy and pay for healthy seaweeds, they last.

    Could someone explain the source for radioactive isotopes in powdered dulse which is sold by retailers? I have some batches I purchased in 2012 from a USA seller, and it is hot enough to be measured throught the mylar bag. It measures today just as hot as it was 12 years ago. Before having it tested, I fed this stuff to my family and am still concerned. The retailer shrugged me off saying it is probably some "natural germanium source", but I don't believe they care.

    I had some about an hour ago I grew up eating it but stopped having it for a long time. Anytime the doctor puts me on an antibiotic straight after it like in a few weeks my body starts to crave it again and I have to go and find where it is being sold and eat it there in there.

    I don ‘t understand why cooking there is less iodine. Does iodine remain in the cooking water or evaporate?

      I understand that, because it's so high in iodine, you want no more that a few sprinkles of it on food. Like less than a 16th of a tablespoon

    Nobody is talking about the reality that dulse may already absorbed radioactive isotopes from the environment. I have a 5lb bag here of red sea lettuce powder that makes a Geiger counter go crazy. It is from 2012 from a USA retailer.

    • @ChonkTek
      @ChonkTek Před měsícem

      @@Selena8461 I will check the bag for the location later today as it is in storage. The retailer's website nowadays is not as specific as to the origin as I recall they were in 2012, so I know the label has more info. I think it said Northern Atlantic coast of Canada but I'll make sure. As for the retailer, I have to be careful divulging that since I purchased quite a bit of bulk product from them over the years through my company, and I don't want them to retaliate. Let me think of the best way to say it without opening a can of worms. I'll reply back soon.

    Seaweeds do absorb all the pollution and micro plastics that have been found in sea salt though what about that.

    • @adambryant9686
      @adambryant9686 Před rokem

      Toxins and pollution gets mostly stored in fat.
      That means people should never eat fish in 2023 and beyond.
      Sea vegetation doesn’t absorb anywhere near as much pollution, but the main thing to watch out for are heavy metals. All seaweed must be heavy metal tested.
