      You know, that was one of the things I remember about the original. I always found it funny that I didn't hear that crying at all during my playthrough. I can only assume that they found the animations to be annoying or they simply forgot (and/or didn't think it was a big deal)

    2:43 The line being "But there's no time to admire it!" isn't technically a Wii-to-HD change, it was always like that in the North American version of the original release. The European Wii version changed that line to "But now is not the time to give it a close examination!", but it seems they didn't carry over this line change for the European Switch versions (Among presumably other line changes, such as Fi's line about the oral tradition being unreliable)

    • @Some-guy-on-the-internet
      @Some-guy-on-the-internet Před 2 lety +21

      This is the correct answer. As far as I can tell, Nintendo stopped doing EU specific localisations of their games beginning with the Switch. First party Nintendo games released for the Switch use the NA localisation when the language is set to English regardless of the region. As weird as it may sound, I think they do this now because the Switch isn't region locked like the Wii U or 3DS were, so there's not much point in making different versions of their games in the same language if all versions of their games can be played on any Switch from any region.

    • @AdrianCosman
      @AdrianCosman Před 2 lety +1

      @Some-guy-on-the-internet Před 2 lety +1

      @@SorcererLance That is 100% true and they continued to do EU specific localisations for the rest of the DS and Wii's lifespans and throughout the entire Wii U and 3DS era. However, Switch games don't show any evidence of having EU specific localisations. My EU Switch games appear to be exactly the same as the American releases, even down to regional spelling differences, such as "color" instead of "colour".

    I vividly remember seeing Bertie soothing his child when at the cauldron during my HD playthrough. I believe the vendor animations are simply not as common and will not occur when you're too close to them.
    The only reason I believe Nintendo would make this change is to keep the characters lively without distracting you from your shopping spree

    • @JadeM15
      @JadeM15 Před 2 lety +10

      @ If you're trying to say that SSHD is a Wii ISO played on an emulator, it absolutely isn't. It's been ported, changed, and recompiled from the source into a new version of the game, and there's a ton of tweaks/features that were not part of the original. There are no emulator issues, because it's not emulated, it's a Switch game.
      And besides, the animations are supposedly still there, just rarer.

    2:44 That was a regional difference, in the American Wii Version, it says "No time to admire it" while in the European Wii Version it said "No time for close examination". That was during the time when Nintendo's English translation teams thought it was a great idea to have different English translations depending on where you live instead of using the same English translation in both regions. It uses the American version in that line in the Switch version. I guess they learned their lesson not to do that stupid move again.

    For speedrunners, these text changes makes a huge difference, because the less amount of text there is to render, the better, so when you pick a different language to run the game in, that text will be shorter compared to English.

    A lot of the text changes you mentioned only applied to the European versions of the HD and the original Skyward Sword because with the original Skyward Sword on Wii. Nintendo of Europe retranslated the entire thing to give it a more literal translation but in America the translation was more off probably due to censorship purposes or something like that but for every English version of the HD remaster is face off the American translation with the only text changes changing particular words as some words are spelled differently in different types of English Nintendo dude accommodate for that but all of the English text is based off of the American version

    The whole FPS deal was not really a subtle change, it was CLEARLY noticeable for one and two it's not much of a change than rather the Switch is a much more powerful and capable system. As for subtle change #7 this was because originally during an age where HD become common for TVs and consoles the Wii was pretty much just a slightly upgraded Gamecube and thus was not able to produce 720p standard HD. To hide the lower 480 resolution the artists designed Cezanne Effect on the textures to resemble a painting (much like the ones French painter Paul Cézanne made) at a distance to give it more character as if you were looking a painting from afar but as you got closer objects became clear.
    With Full HD at 60fps from the Switch that effect was no longer necessary so obviously they removed it to a degree. You can still see it but it's at a much lesser extent.

    Why did they take out the animations?! D: I felt like something was missing when I was playing but I couldn’t figure what. And that’s it! It bring so much character and the switch can handle it so I can’t figure what reason they’d have for removing them.

    Man, that's a real that the quest logs that used to be shaped like bird feathers have been replaced with generic rectangles, but, at least we got thumbnails now along with an additional 4th file! No idea why there were subtle dialogue changes such as with that one Groose scene, or even double-dashes replaced with single ones. I do love the aesthetics of the HD version more, even if the visuals sadly aren't as picturesque like before. I really don't see a reason why those unique animations with the NPC's were scrapped, it was really unique to watch. Oh, well, at least the game runs better now!
