That's a pretty convenient feature. We'll done Scangrip

That is an awesome feature and wished that more manufacturers did that. Does the light or the adapter have any protection built in to protect the battery? For example, a typical Milwaukee tool will cut power to a tool once it gets to a certain voltage in order to protect the cells in the battery, some 3rd party tools that take that same Milwaukee battery will draw power from the battery until the battery is fully depleted.

      scangrip mentions that:
A BATTERY SAFETY SYSTEM protects the battery pack and makes it safe to use.
The safety system features an automatic discharge protection, overload protection
and temperature surveillance which means you can use your 18 V/20 V battery pack again
and again without it being damaged.

Thanks for the content. Should you make the choice again. Would you think that 1x Multimatch 8 connect would be a better set up than 2x Multimatch 3 connect or even 1x Multimatch 3 connect for the car detailing. It looks that the both lights have power, so it may be down to the modularity each can offer.

I find that the 3 is plenty bright for me, but I'm not professionally detailing every day. I would usually lean toward2 smaller lights instead of one bigger one because i feel it gives you more options, so i would probably buy another 3 connect before i would go for an 8.

Nice update to the lights, I like it. What is not so nice is the price!
With the old system you would get: light, battery, power supply that doubles as a charger.
New system you get: the light... THATS IT!
So prepare to pay way more if you wish to have the same functionality as before. Just not worth the upgrade if you already have one or two of these lights.
    Disappointing to say the least.

Thats a fair point. I think if i was already invested in a battery system i would rather choose the new connect route instead of having another battery / charger to manage, but you're not wrong about the value. I wonder if they need to pay licensing to these companies to make the battery adapters to work with their tech... Like the HDMI tax everyone needs to pay.

@@improvedgarage I say its most likely greedy capitalism, plus current market inflation.
Having a battery from Makita or any other brand to use is nice. Means that you keep your batteries in rotation to keep them going instead of dying on a shelf.
But, now you need to always rely on your own charger, own battery, and additional $ power supply.
I say its just them being greed. After all, battery adapters cost is more than acceptable. Its the rest of the ecosystem that is way overpriced now on a already expensive light to begin with. Even worse if you wish to have wall power for 2 or 3 lights.

Comparing the complete kit cost you are 100% correct, but the new light alone is 100$ less than the old kit, and i don't end up with stuff that i don't need.
With the old setup you paid 330 and got a light, a battery, and a charger / power supply. You cant charge a battery while using the light unless you have 2 batteries, and a battery doesn't last as long as it takes to charge when running the light at high brightness. The new light is also 18V compared to the old one (12V), so you get longer runtime on the same AH sized battery 12V*5.0Ah=60 watt hours vs using a Milwaukee 5.0Ah*18V=90watt hours. Since the light output is the same, you get around 1.5x the runtime with the new light.
The new light alone is 230, the battery adapter is 15 and a power cord is 106. For someone like me with a cabinet full of Milwaukee batteries, I couldnt care less about the wired power supply, and i honestly don't want the scangrip battery, so im all in at 245 using the batteries I already have on the shelf which I would prefer. With 2x 5ah m18 batteries I can run the light all day because they charge faster than the light drains them.
If you have no batteries, and no plan to buy them you can still buy the old kit instead and add on a few extra scangrip batteries if you feel they are needed. It looks to me like they are giving users the choice between 2 packaging options, I would assume most people with a garage have some battery system (makita, milwaukee, flex, dewalt) and i see this as scangrip being honest about the fact that they don't have the best battery tech and allowing you to use the battery you already have.
