    "Is she playing?"
I would put it this way: Moa is playing along with the backing track. Although the second time around she had a little less discipline about it. (OK, OK, a lot less discipline about it.) The guitar itself, complete with stand, looks like the guitar Mikio featured in his Trick Box videos. I think there is a lot of wishful thinking or tales that grow in the telling in some of the other comments. I'm pretty sure Kobametal asked if she wanted to play live, but that she demured. Does seem an obvious homage to Mikio in any case.
Now if we could just find out about Su, NRNR, and the piano at 10 Babymetal Budokan...

She went into fair bit of details describing her feeling about watching and being with Moa during this performance. "Shine" is the kind of song I'm falling in love with at first listen. Such a beautiful song and performance. The guitar solo part always gives me "goosebumps". Babymetal's songs are like a collection of Top 1 songs in one album. If we go in-depth to check, they are more than 10 different composers who contribute to the Metal Galaxy album. Very high quality of talents here. Once again, great reaction and comments, Gombers. Thanks.

Definitely one of my favorite songs and performances. Actually I'm so glad to read comments in the same way due I'm a sucker for this one (and many other moments from Legend M). Basically I love all about it. The song, the choreo, Su's vocals, the solo, the part right after the solo, the eye contact... Okay, you get the idea hehe...

If no one has told you, i think you got it right about the trilogy. Starlight is past. Shine is present. Arcadia is future. I heard Shine live at the Forum and it was so good. My first time actually hearing Su's voice and it is so good live. Every Babymetal fan needs to hear them at least once and to experience them once also. Absolutely love this song along with Brand New Day. I can listen to these songs many times and never get tired of it.

What an amazing performance. Your right about choreography it tells a story. Since it was for Moa's birthday seeing her getting a moment to shine at the beginning of the song is cool. It was a total surprise to see her by herself on the stage. Moa has mentioned that they felt very connected during this performance. Like they were holding hands as she said. IMO this is the song that made them decide to go on as Babymetal. As Moa has mentioned the relationship between her and Su has gotten stronger. Su has mentioned the growth of the relationship between them as well. Su use to think of herself as the older sister who had to take care of Moa and Yui. Now Yui moved on and Moa is Super Moa. Su no longer is just the older sister role. But Su said she now realizes that Moa is much more of a partner in this. I think it was there all along and she never noticed it. In many of the videos of their interviews you can Su turn and get confirmation from Moa about what she just said. It's even funnier when they start just nodding to each other without saying anything. How could they do this song and not become closer? When they walk off together at the end, That was genius level performance.

  • @safrisaleh412
    @safrisaleh412 Před 3 lety +26

This particular song Su-Metal says is very close to her heart. "Shine", the record's penultimate track, is a big-souled six-minutes belter that still manages to be reasonably pared-down by Japanese Kawaii-Metal group's standards - "pared-down" inasmuch as it only features the one guitar solo. Su-Metal recalls clearly the emotions she put in while recording it in the studio, inspired by its message of light and hope, and says it has a power that she's looking forward to sharing with Babymetal fans. The guitar which Moametal plays is a replica if not is one of Mikio Fujioka acoustic guitar 🎸. It represents the Analogy of Mikio Fujioka who passed away and Yuimetal who left Babymetal. Starlight is about remembering, Shine is about acceptance. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤟

Great reaction to an incredible song. I could have listened to it with you ten more times. Everything is so good about this song. Moa's dancing, the music, the visuals, and of course, Su's voice. She has that way of singing with so much passion and emotion yet never over sells it, even for a moment. The same with Moa's dancing. I will always be impressed with how they do things with such power but are so subdued at the same time.

Shine how it was performed at Legend M in Nagoya is one of the most beautiful performances I've seen in art ever. So emotionally charged. I can watch it twice or thrice and never get tired.
And yeah on the guitar. Yes she is playing, Moa knows to play the guitar at amateur level, so she is doing the correct notes in that guitar. Mikio taught her a bit on tours. But that's not what you are listening in the audio. The backtrack that's plugged in the background is a classic guitar played with a pick. They probably were afraid she had not the level to risk the performance in it and just put some professional to do it; Moa's instrument is dance and she is so good at it. For world level content on classic guitar we need the best person who can do it.

Su is the perfect vocalist and quite unique. She is one of very few clean ( not growly) singers who has virtually not vibrato in her voice. Clean , sharp and concise. This is what makes her live performances so much better than the studio cuts. Her voice requires no engineering or post production work. Now I wait for ( in my opinion) , the final and best part of the trilogy. And yes, I did cry for all 3.

Great reaction! My favorite song of the trilogy. There was an interview last year where they talked about this performance (this is not from the Chronicles interview, you should check that out as well though🤩):
SU: (...)The first time we performed "Shine" was at the 2019 show in Nagoya (LEGEND - M), where only the two of us, MOAMETAL and I, were on stage. Until today I don't forget that "Shine" presentation. How can I say... At that moment we weren't holding hands literally, but it's as if we were holding each other's hands, showing that we would be able to move on.... Between me and MOAMETAL there is already something that you can't see with your eyes.
MOAMETAL: (Sign of agreement with head and smile on face)
SU: I don't know how to explain it properly but, I feel this "something" with a very strong intensity. In a way this could have been the collection of everything BABYMETAL could offer, or just a beginning, or something inexplicable that doesn't fit this dimension. I can't say for sure, but we had in mind that this would be one of our masterpieces, and at the same time, the realized image of our determination.

  • @rantingrodent416
    @rantingrodent416 Před 3 lety +11

You really nailed it with the emotion of the song, and especially this performance. In interviews they've said that this performance of Shine was when they really decided for certain that they wanted to move ahead as Babymetal despite the trials and losses they had suffered. The intensity between Su and Moa on stage is pretty incredible here because of that.
There was a time when they were considering not continuing without Yui. My 100% personal theory of part of what drove them to continue with such powerful determination is that they don't want Yui to feel like her health problems brought down Babymetal. It's certainly what would be on my mind in that situation. They must succeed so that she can live without that regret. There's some things in interviews that I think hint at this, but it's definitely my own head canon.

This is my favourite version ❤ Su and Moa it is like part of there history Yui leaving because of her health and Mikio passing away all there feelings must of went into this performance. A 3rd person who had not experienced there pain and loss could not portray it with such powerful emotions as they did . Moa's elegant dancing and Su's powerful vocals look at the emotion in Su's face as she sings and the both of them dancing during the guitar solo reminds you how Su loves dancing and is a great dancer just like Moa . Also when you see the guitarists in the background between them just adds to the emotion and as they walk off together ready to move on
🤘 ❤❤🤘 i heard Moa was asked if she wanted to play the guiter piece but turned it down as she thought she had not been practicing enough because she had been concentrating on her dancing if she has it definitely shows in her dancing abilities.

I cannot say if that guitar is plugged in, however Moa can play some chords and in this case here the guitar is tuned to DADGAD, so she has to put her finger across the bar only. MAYBE its muted, but Mikio taught her a few guitar chords and there's rumors too, that this was actually one of Mikio's guitars. This song gives me shivers always, not only cuz Moa is on guitar but Queen Su never ever sang better (though in her case that's hard to say cuz she always sings awesome)

Our princess of Nagoya can play the guitar for sure but i think this might be for aesthetic reason, just like our quen SuMetal playing the piano recently, still beautiful and the solo dance, oh my heart ❤️
This is at Legend M (MoaMetal's 20st birthday) live concert, she sang Headbanger! (MoaBanger version on that one too), Moa-chan playing the guitar and dancing so elegant and -sexy- is impossible not feeling all the love she irradiates, and now our queen play the piano during NRNR, i wonder if we could see our girls playing some instruments in the future or this is just pure artistic choice, either way, i love them.
For me this song talk about the two of them finding each other after such a odd times and MoaMetal is that shine on the road, the light at the end of the tunnel SuMetal needed to keep travelling her road, now boundlessly together ❤️

excellent content Gombers-Metal, Koba asked Moa if she wanted to play her guitar live and she said no, probably because that is the guitar that Mikio gave to her while she was taking lessons from him and since his passing, she hasn't practiced like she should, but I have no doubt that she could play this, her left hand was hitting all the notes. As far as the duet aspect goes, they are confirming to each other that they will go on with their journey together. I was lucky enough to witness the third performance of this song in L.A. at the Forum and avenger Riho was with them and it still was emotional.

Great reaction, you certainly "got" it. I love this song, it's just a beautiful prog ballad and IMO this is among the very best we have heard of Su so far (she sings it even better at LMG and The Forum, but those performances don't have the emotional weight of having Mikio represented on stage). The Trilogy of Lights is really high level metal, maybe it's not that popular because it has a very serious subject matter, it's not "happy" like most of BABYMETAL songs.
Regarding Moa, it doesn't really matter if she was really playing, since we are hearing the backing track. It all adds to this beautiful performance.

  • @Kmudaify
    @Kmudaify Před 3 lety +2

Go back and watch this again and focus on Su's eyes. You'll see that for much of the song she is actually singing TO Moa. This performance is the debut of this song and it happened at Legend M, Moa's 20th birthday concert. Su later said she felt this song, in this moment, best symbolized Babymetal as they are now, representing her and Moa as Babymetal, transitioning from what they were, to what they are, fighting through the hardships of the prior year (Mikio dying, Yui leaving, the fan revolt of 2018, etc...). Regardless of the original intent of the song, it now includes all of those meanings. That by itself, along with a master class in song craft, Su's emotional vocals, and the combined emotional dance, makes for a very moving song.

    Twilight 過去 現在 未来 続く道
    まだ 終わりなき旅の 途中でも
    巡り会えた 奇跡 信じて
    僕らは行く 君のもとへ
    Shining light さあ 行こう
    Shining road
    Shining sky 飛び立とう
    Shining road どこまでも
    遥か遠く 宇宙の旅へ
    遥か遠く 宇宙へ
    Shining light さあ 行こう
    Shining road どこまでも
    時空を超えて 永遠の旅へ
    時空を超えて 届け
    Shining in my heart
    Shining in your heart
    Shining forever

Even in the middle of this never ending journey
Believe we will see a miracles
And we will go to you
    Shining light, let's go
    Shining road, everywhere
Beyond space and time, to an eternal journey
Beyond space and time, to eternity
    Until beyond the light
    Until beyond the light
    Until beyond that light
It will continue to an endless
Even though get lost in the darkness
    With a little light
    Over this hand
    My heart cried, but
It doesn't matter if it's crushed
    It's because that dazzling light
    Will illuminates us
    Shining sky, let's fly
    Shining road, everywhere
Far away that journey in the sky
    Far away that sky
    Shining light, let's go
    Shining road, everywhere
Beyond space and time, to an eternal journey
Beyond space and time, for reach that
    Shining in my heart
    Shining in your heart
    Shining forever

From what I know, Moa herself didn't feel confident enough to play that guitar live, because even thought she knows how to play it, she said that she doesn't practice it enough!

Moa can play piano and guitar even Su and Yui

I reacted to it before BRR channel was taken down. I believe his new channel is up and he’ll be uploading the video again soon.

This performance is my favourite without a doubt. Moa and Su are able to express so much with their dancing, facial expressions and of course singing. This song always makes me tear up (same as Akastsuki unfinished tbh). Great reaction again!! Oh, and I agree with you, that Moa is not playing the guitar, but it is still an essential part of the performance, at least for me.

Agreed! It’s so metaphorical for the performance, this is easily one of my favorite performances of theirs to date. So glad you enjoyed the reaction!
