- These are the best ways to save some energy (and money) in a smart home. With Homey, you can easily create your own smart heating activity Flows, or get your home ready for your holiday with some Advanced Flows.
Homey lets you connect all your smart devices together, and create Flows to automate connections between these devices. This means you can step away from static scheduling and move to a more dynamic activity based heating, cooling and lighting. These smart Flows can save a lot of energy in the long run, as you are only using energy when and where you need it.
Go a step further and create some Advanced Flows with Homey Pro to create some more 'advanced' connections. See Tip #4 where you are upgrading your washing machine into a 'smart' washing machine, simply by adding a power metering plug. When it comes to energy savings, every little helps, and this is something to keep in mind when you're designing your Flows in your smart home.
These are the Top 5 Tips to save energy covered in the video:
Tip #1 - Smart Heating
Tip #2 - Smart Sensors
Tip #3 - Zone Activity
Tip #4 - Energy Metering Smart Plugs
Tip #5 - Vacation Mode

Thanks for showing these tips. I actually did most of these tips already myself. However, for the heating and the vacation mode I use the heating controller app. Much easier than programming it yourself. As for the delays, this is actually not the way to do this. You’ll actually want to debounce instead of delay. You’ll need the timeout app to do this properly.
Thanks Alex for showing some nice Advanced flow examples !!
Hi Alex, whats the brand of valve used in the video?
Hey, I enjoy watching your videos! Are you in audea btw?
For using a smart plug for a washing machine check first if it can handle the power (Watt). Tried Fibaro and it wasn't strong enough. I switched to Qubino Smart Plug 16A and it works like a charm. The plug in the demo looks like a Fibaro plug.
Good point Hendricus, I think indeed also the Smart plugs from Philips Hue that I have are not capable and not designed for such high power.
Yes, great point that I should have made in the video. You do need to check what your plugs are rated for and what your washing machine / dryer uses! Thanks for bringing this up. :)
When is Homey Bridge officially launched? When will the beta end?
Hey Damian, we are working on it! We are still ironing out some final issues and preparing for the official launch. Our target is to have the launched before the end of the year.
Hi good day could you please send a homey pro review unit to Everything Smart Home he has 165 k subscribers and is great at doing extensive reviews.
