Ordered it once you guys added the Bold lock to Homey, via your coupon code at Bold itself.
I've got two kids and would like to have them open the door. Now I have a foscam VD1 that can generate snapshots so the whole doorbellthing is a nice thing but more of a gimmick maybe. What kind of options are there to give to my kids or grandma for example? You got the click from bold itself but the possibilities are now 'endless' maybe something like a bluetooth tracker or z-wave/zigbee button maybe nfc or a keypad/fingerprint reader?
Would love to see some creative/secure ways to deal with this
@@wotter814 Good question. It's a tough one to be able to give guests access securely. You can use an NFC that you stick to the door, but this you still need to scan with your smartphone. Now I do know that Bold is working on a feature to basically have the Lock in 'unlock mode' for as long as you would like. So you can say between certain times, that the door is fully unlocked. Perhaps when the kids come home from school, or if they are out playing you can set it to be unlocked. I was personally thinking of something like 'When' the Post Box is open (using a door window sensor) -> 'And' the doorbell is pressed -> 'Then' unlock the front door. So the kids can open the mailbox lid, and press the doorbell and then the door opens. It's tough really to come up with a smart, easy to use, yet secure method for this. But if you do come up with something, I'd love to hear about it!
@@homey i really like the numberpad from Yale but unfortunatly there is no way to get it to work without the yale lock. But something similar from a third party would be swell. Anyway hopefully Bold will make that in the future, I requested them for it so there is a 'slight demand' already.
The mailbox/doorbellpress wouldn't be that safe imo. If the mailman rings the bell and decides to leave a note in the mailbox the door unlocks;). I can just give them a smartbutton or something that will do the trick safely.
I will get the bold smartlock today so I will mess arround for a bit. If you come up with some creative ways I'd love to hear them. If I have some luminous idea I'll post it here or on the community forum.
See you on the next one!
Got my lock and installed it. I had a go at your instructions via de face++ app and its a very funny feature! My kids will be home soon and I added them too. Lets see if they can open the lock that way
Best smart lock you can buy, no noise
does this work with the homey bridge also?
Hi,
does the homey hub also work with the blink xt2 cameras ?
Thank you for your support.
Best regards from Germany
Hey Benny, not 100% sure but we do have an integration with Blink cameras you can try → homey.app/com.blinkforhome I think it supports most blink cameras.
Nice! Finally;)
I forgot my password and I don't use the old email so how can use the
Tried the facial recognition (face++) app. Made an API on the chinese website and saved it in the homey app. Tried to add a face (white background, frontal shot, 550x550px) but it gives me an error.
Anyway now it is added toHomey can I also use a third party keypad?
Hey W Otter, sorry to hear face++ isn't working, did you take a look at the forum post to see if that helps? (community.homey.app/t/app-pro-face-face-recognition-for-homey/29058)
@@homey got it working. Copied a piece of the secret key that didnt belong
@@wotter814 Yeah the API key stuff is a bit of a pain. But once it's setup it works quite well. :)
Can it work like a deadlock? So it is locked on the inside as well?
interior knob always works to lock/unlock, even if unpowered.
Hey Glenn, you will be able to use the new Homey Pro (2023) together with a Homey Bridge as satellite to do this indeed. However, bear in mind that the Satellite functionality doesn't have a set release date yet. The alternative is to use the Bold connect bridge to connect with the Lock (but I know, that's a little pricey compared to Homey Bridge).
As to your second question I do not know if an 'open' mode is available currently, from my experience the door auto locks after a set amount of time (customized in the Bold App). It may be that Bold offers a scheduling option which keeps the door unlocked between certain times, but you'd need to check this with them first. Don't take my word for it. 😅
Dit werkt niet heb het slot op 2m van mijn homey maar hij functioneert niet. Telkens foutmelding dus wat ik in de support begrepen heb ben je de hub van bold wel nodig

Cant Connect my Bold to Homey. Does ist only works with Homey Bridge?
Hey Rene, it should work with both Homey Bridge and Homey Pro / Homey (early editions). What issue are you running into? that it doesn't find the lock under your account or that you can't control it?
Great smartlock! Just wondering if it makes sense with a window in the door, once it's smashed in, the key is basically on the inside 🤔 Or is there a safeguard?
This made me not buy it, its so stupid lol
Yes you can deactivate the button in the app.
@@hoihoi9866 lol
@@hoihoi9866 I can't find this anywhere in reviews. Can you disable the button on the inside handle so it is lock from the inside as well (like a dead lock)?
Just installed my Bold lock and added it to my Homey Pro, but it is not able to control the lock at all. I do not have Bold Connect, but from what I understand, that is not needed with Homey Pro.
Hey Kelvin, it shouldn't be required to use the Bold Connect, however if you have it, then it might be a good idea to connect via that. If you connect direct to the Bold lock, then Homey must be in close proximity (Bluetooth range) of the Bold lock.
@@homey hi, my Homey is about 1.5m from the Bold lock. Perhaps the Bluetooth on my Homey is broken?
@@Streetsight Hey Kelvin, that is pretty unlikely. I'm not sure, have you tried reaching out to our support / the developer's support they may be able to help you better. All I can think of is "have you tried turning it off and on again" 😋
So, the disadvantage lists 'battery runs out' and the solution given is a pin code system... which needs battery? No solution to a dead battery then?
HexaDroid, good point, that was not really laid out properly. What I was trying to say was that if the battery of your smartphone (key) is empty, then you can use the pin code system. 😅
the bold website talks about how it goes into low-power limp mode for a long time and basically nags you to replace the battery. the battery is commonly available watch battery to replace.
The homey app for the lock doesn't function very well.
The lock is 'currently unavailable' is it out of reach?
Hey W Otter, could be that it's out of range. The direct connection works via Bluetooth which unfortunately has quite small range. So make sure you place your Homey close to the Bold Lock. This should help the stability of the connection.
Thats a bummer. My homey acts as my doorbell chime, If I move it closely, it will be located in the fuse box and thus I can't see the light anymore or hear the chime.
@@wotter814 Any chance you have a Sonos speaker in your home? You could double that as your doorbell! (homey.app/a/com.sonos)
@@homey nope I can figure something out probably. But did you read my email that my Homey is now Dead? Ive been trying to reach you but process is slow and the need for Homey is high
@@wotter814 Did you reach out to our customer support team? If so then I haven't personally seen the email, but I am confident if your Homey is no longer working that they will be able to help you! Response time is around 12 hours on average. So your patience is appreciated.
All this automation is causing you to walk less, and it's noticeable.. HAAA
The WAF (wife acceptance factor) is like 0 - way to ugly.
Have you seen the other competitors? Nuki loqed, yale they are all bigger and less esthetically pleasing.
It seems that the whole fixture is only used in this demo. The actual lock they sell is just the knob (at least I think so when looking at the website).
@@hexadroid6884 yes thats right, the handle remains as yours. just the knob,
