In my case, I don’t just have toxic parents but my entire extended family is also toxic. I get gaslighted on a daily basis and told it’s wrong to forgive, wrong to be kind, wrong to be compassionate, wrong to talk about my problems, wrong to help people, wrong to cry, wrong to be happy, wrong to socialize, wrong to leave the house to hang out with friends, wrong to ask if somebody likes my hair and clothes, wrong to seek validation and approval, etc; my psychiatrist says the things I’m being told are false and is toxic behavior and when I told my family she said this they accused her of enabling bad behavior and told me normal adults don’t do these things and normal adults stay inside and are anti social and isolated and keep to themselves and don’t talk about things and aren’t emotional or sensitive. They also tell me love is a sign of weakness and love is coddling and they tell me when someone is sick they’re to suck it up and that it’s wrong to go to the doctor or seek medical treatment because that’s wasting money and giving up and being a child or teenager. They also tell me normal adults don’t nap or sleep all day. Newsflash I sleep all day because of them stressing me out. My psychiatrist says I sleep and binge eat to avoid the toxic behavior. I have tried to reach out to my church and the authorities for help but they don’t believe me because I’m autistic so they take my family’s word over mine. They have basically told me unless something physically happens to me they can’t do anything. Worst part? My family threatens guardianship and conservatorship unless I do as they say and follow their rules. They have gone so far as to tell me once I’m on my own if I cut off contact they’ll seek conservatorship and tell a judge I’m mentally unstable because of my PTSD. The family psychologist used to view me as a narcissist because I used to be toxic myself but she FINALLY sees the truth and says I learned it from my family. She used to tell them to neglect me but now she tells them to get out of parent child mode and that they’re acting ridiculous and shouldn’t treat their 34 year old daughter this way. She told me treat them like room mates instead of family. She told them to get me bracelets for people with ADHD to remind me to do chores to help me improve and that it’s normal to praise an adult for good behavior but they refuse her suggestions and accuse her of enabling me saying she doesn’t live with me. Somehow everything is always MY FAULT and if I dare call them out I get gaslighted, told I’m imagining it, told I’m exaggerating or called crazy or they deny they said these things to me and if I dare ask for help they tell people I’m a liar. Eventually I gave up trying to ask for help. I suffer from false memories too so that doesn’t help things either. I often find myself questioning my reality. My psychiatrist said since nobody believes me including the local authorities the best thing to do is get a job, move out and lay low until my parents are comfortable with me being on my own because she said with them threatening conservatorship I can’t risk anything. She told me she’s treated other autistic people in similar situations who treated their autistic adult children this way and it never ends well because these parents will always convince a judge to give them what they want. The parents will lie and a judge always believes the parents especially with multiple witnesses who also happen to be toxic. All my friends and family on all sides are toxic people unfortunately who have backwards values. My best friend has become toxic too so I can’t trust her anymore 😢 my psychiatrist is furious I’m going through this but her solution is to lay low and just deal with it because odds are nobody’s going to believe me because of my past. She evaluated me already and determined I’m mentally stable and just suffering from trauma and PTSD but that I’m perfectly capable of working and paying my bills and managing my own life. She said though even if she testifies that I’m mentally stable and don’t need conservatorship a judge probably won’t listen. Growing up my family and friends weren’t like this at all. It wasn’t until I went to college and developed my own opinions and beliefs that everyone started acting like this. Apparently in their eyes autistic people are to just shut up and do as they are told even as adults and apparently we aren’t allowed to have opinions, beliefs or our own interests. That’s why society pushes ABA. To make us appear less autistic by silencing us. I never had ABA thank goodness but I know people who did and it ruined their lives and set them up for failure as adults. They all got PTSD from it. Even those who had modern ABA were damaged. So yeah I understand what this girl is going through and the people commenting that asking for help doesn’t work, they are absolutely right. If you have mental illness you’re pretty much screwed.

He detested most holidays (esp Halloween, I didn’t go trick or treating til after we got out of foster care I was 10/11). My mom was actually very lenient so I’m just a mixed up mess😅 when you’re young you are vulnerable and it disgusts me that parents treat their children like this!! I have 3 kids of my own and I’m very open and honest about the reasons behind me saying “no” to certain things (if it feels unsafe or I get a creepy vibe). I want them to enjoy their childhood and not miss out on pivotal experiences like I did. I for damn sure don’t get pissed over petty things like the water bill or conditioner. I really hope this was not your childhood. It makes Mr so sad to know that people like this exist and have children freely.

This reminds me of a time in 6th grade I had been made fun of for having caterpillar eyebrows. So I tweezed and used an eyebrow razor and safe to say I messed it up. My mother tore into me telling me that I looked awful, I looked like a clown, she hopes people would laugh when they saw the brows. To this day I’m almost 26 I’m very self conscious about my eyebrows

I'm gonna get a little technical here 🤓
Technically you're supposed to put conditioner only on the ends of your hair and if the daughter knew that and she put the hair removal cream on the ends of her hair no hair would have fallen out because It would have to have been on her scalp for it to come out

All honesty that shit stinks to high heavens, esp when killing hair. Most would smell that and know to rinse out immediately. Plus if you leave for any time it does get warm too. Never had a conditioner get warm nor smell like that.

from experience I thought a face scrub was body scrub so I put it all over my body and then when I got out I was panicking cuz I like red marks all over my body from using it cuz I thought it was body wash so that's why I always read five times before using stuff maybe even more
