Two regular fire flowers is only enough to cook one side of the meat fully (assuming you get excellent both times). However, if you use two big fire flowers instead, you can cook both sides just like the grill.

None, actually. After each dialogue, I quit the game without saving, allowing me to do the cutscene all over again without having to spend any money.
