The Time Tunnel startup sound effect is comparable, IMO. 60s television sci-fi shows were what made me get into the genre. You had 'Twilight Zone', 'Outer Limits', the Irwin Allen sci-fi juggernaut of four different series going, 'The Invaders',...a lot of stuff to feed make an impression (or ten) on a young mind growing up in that decade...then, there was the music, too...

Please explain the domed under part below the lights. I don't recall the Jupiter 2 having this feature. Excellent work, eerily realistic, especially the lighting and engine light effects. You effectively merged the sci-fi expectation with what UFOs have been described as and look like in modern culture.

In 1968 when 20th Century-Fox (the same studio that made "Lost in Space") made the motion picture "Planet of the Apes" they used the Jupiter 2 sound effects for the sound effects of Charlton Heston's spacecraft "The Icarus" combined with the sound effects of the Batmobile from the TV show "Batman" when the Batmobile would ignites its engines. Give a listen and it's pretty obvious and clear.

You can faintly here a turbo encabulator in use during liftoff. It sounds as if it was of the original design, with the base plate being constructed of pre-famulated amulite surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing. To effectively prevent side fumbling, you gotta keep the two spurving bearings in a direct line with the panametric fan, which consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzlevanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft. It's quite a nice piece of history.

Someday, in the far distant future, perhaps beyond all of our lifespans, the actual engines of an interstellar spacecraft will make this sound, because they will know it must, as an homage to the humans who dreamed that it was possible during the era of science fiction that eventually gave rise to those who finally made it possible.

Dec. 20, 2020----I was 13 years old when the 1966 Lost in Space tv series started and I watched it every episode I could, but then the producers put out stupid scripts and lost me. It was the same way when I saw the trailers for the Batman tv series.....oh boy, oh boy, can't wait to watch this. And it was crappy, campy stuff. Watched The Walking Dead series, though at the time, didn't know it was based on a comic book. But they started losing me when they left the CDC center, leaving behind a Humvee and troop carrier, with the troop carrier having a multi-fuel engine.
Thanks for the video, looks great and really enjoyed the lights and sound as the ship rose into the air.

The first season of Lost In Space was pretty good for the most part. But the next two were ridiculously stupid culminating in The Great Vegetable Rebellion. Horrific. One good episode in the third season was when when the Jupiter 2 went through a time warp and wound up in 1947. That was a good episode….except for stupid old Dr. Smith. They should have left him there!

Dual compact laser-generated dense plasma-focused proton-boron aneutronic crossfire nuclear fusion reactors provide nominal and startup power.
Next, heavy radiation shields close off crew compartment.
The beautiful symphony of the Jupiter's sound is secondary to the startup of the main matter-antimatter annihilation nuclear drive with its proton-antiproton magnetic "harmonically synchronized" pre-ignition plenum. Noise, radiation and blinding light emit from the engine's sonic, gamma ray and photonic computer-controlled tuned exhaust ports.
As the matter-antimatter reactor ramps up a deep synchronized pulsating hum marks full power at ready.
Fusion-powered alphavoltaic electrical repulsive graviton beams mark levitation phase. As the ship rises through the atmosphere, the hull begins to glow from static electricity as the fusion reactors build a powerful deflective force field for interstellar travel.
    The power of the universe.

I had a idea as a kid that they should’ve launched several Jupiter’s like a 1 thru 5 with 5 different families, and still having the Jupiter 2 go off course because of Smiths extra weight, but having them meet up with the other ships , finding one that had a similar problem and crashed landed on a planet, only to find no survivors, but salvaging things from the other ship, and each ship could’ve had their own unique robots, but as they continue to travel they eventually meet up with the other ships, only to discover that alpha Centauri was not habitable, as well hey hoped, so they continue to pursue other planets that could suit earth
    Colonization
