    Another fun fact - Kunal (Raj) is married to 2006 Miss Femina India Neha Kapur (she represented India at the Miss Universe pageant.) He also attended St. Columba School in New Delhi.

    The actor who played Raj, Kunal Nayyar, grew up in New Delhi, India. Acting like he was Indian was probably very easy for him. Making his character consistently funny was probably tough. He did it very well.

    I was expecting the scene where Leonard winds up on a videolink with Raj's parents, who are not happy with him dating their daughter. Because he was not expecting it, he improvises and says; "How is the weather? Is it very hot there?", and the father responds stiffly but with force: "This is India. It is always hot!"

      Can you share the link

    • @Historian212
      @Historian212 Před měsícem

      @vincegamer @YankeeRoyalReactionary Well, it's a bit more complicated than that. This is from Wikipedia: "George was born...in Nahariya, Israel, to Jewish parents of Indian and Iraqi descent, who had immigrated to Israel. His father was born in Iraq and grew up in Bombay, India, in a multi-religious family, with his half-sister being Muslim. His mother was born in India. A year after his birth, the family moved from Israel to London and then, in 1966, to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. George is the youngest of four siblings." The Jewish communities in India are quite ancient (although they've dwindled in size over the past hundred years or so), and due to intermarriage, Indian Jews share in Indian cultures (languages, foods, etc.), while observing Jewish customs of their areas. So George's mother being an Indian Jew, plus his father's having been raised in India, means that George is of part-Indian descent.

      Wow, really? I'm American, I love it. It's a fun adaptation and a bit of a spoof. Some people here are so nervous about racism that they totally overreact. I'm sure that Kunal Nayyar, the actor who played Raj, would have informed the producers and creators of the show if something was racist, rather than participate in it.

    Sheldon is supposed to be on the autism spectrum. He has a brilliant mind but misses social cues. His evolution through the series is quite interesting. Early on, he had great difficulty interacting with people, and in flashbacks, you can see that he was basically friendless when Leonard met him and became his roommate. It is nice to see how he grew and developed skills that allowed him to connect with others.

    I envy you because you will be watching this wonderfully funny show for the first time. I don’t know to what extent you will be able to get the humor of interactions between Rajesh (Indian guy) and Howard (Jewish guy). They are hilarious. When intensely Christian and Texan Sheldon’s mother appears, it gets even better. At a time when political correctness dominates, this show was a relief.

    Loved the video! Bing bang theory is one of my favorite shows. I’m still trying to find the Blu-ray box set for my media collection. Honestly I’ve considered learning another language, luckily from my adhd I’ve picked up a fair amount of different words from a handful of languages. Lately I’ve noticed the desire of learning a language is not from the want of going to the places of that language but it’s been a desire to have the ability to connect and communicate with someone. Thinking it over I’ve thought of learning Hindi, telugu or Punjabi but unsure which would be the best to learn lol but I also want to be able to read/write in the language as well so I can have a deeper understanding and connection to the language which can be intimidating for an English speaker like myself, especially since the American school system didn’t really even do the best at teaching English but I should have taken more initiative to teach myself 😅
