"Why would you settle for being Irish when you could be English?" - the subconscious, smug sense of superiority that lives in some brits on full display.
The fact that Alex crook is English should be enough for people not to want to play for England
Northern Ireland is British, which renders your comment senseless.
In 2023 to think being british is better than being Irish shows lack of education and ignorance more than smug arrogance. A quick glance to HDI or just average income, home ownership, level of education etc just renders that backwards thought process redundant.
@@LordHighness only in your head if u think that . northern ireland is occupied by the british son thats the difference
@@HavingTheCrack the difference between the education systems is crazy my sister an old girlfriend and myself all were educated in both systems. So history will be different in every country but math science and geography will and should be fairly similar but its like a 2/3 year difference what we are learning in 1st year they are learning in 3rd year what we do in our junior cert they are still on it in there 5th year .
Its getting humiliating that they keep asking him this. He was born in Ireland, grew up in Ireland and his dad is Irish. Get it a rest 😂
cause they afraid of the current crop of upcoming England strikers after Kane, Ferguson if being coach properly could be like Kane
@MeazurAli 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Stick to something you know something about...like Kabaddi 🙈
Can't be playing for England with that accent
Who keeps asking?! This is the first time I've seen him be asked and we wouldn't accept him. If he's born there...he plays. The others were born in England, so AREN'T eligible.
You're so Right. Is not like he's ever going to win any silverware with England
Actually being Irish makes him a different case to Grealish and Rice
He's the same as Rice and Kane, one parent English, one parent Irish. It's super common tbh.
@@Frorackousyes but he was born in Ireland
@@Frorackousits not the same, hes literally born and raised there
@@FrorackousAbout as stupid a comment as the question that was asked of him!
So what do you say to those 800,000 people in the north of Ireland who insist that they are "British"?
The audacity and the sheer ignorance of some in England. He is Irish. Ireland is Ireland and you have no right to ask such an ignorant question.
Yes, but quite a few maps are STILL using the archaic colonial term "British Isles"
@warren ferguson is not from Northern Ireland or Britain.
He was born and raised in Ireland!!!!!!!!!
@@docholiday-lm4vf Check your map, the Six counties are part of the island of Ireland.
@warren im Irish you fool. I think i know if iteland is apart of Britain or not 😂😂😂
Alex Crook with pure ignorance here asking if an Irish man would ever put on an English Jersey 😂
Tell everyone in the youtube community exactly which feelings/emotions you've had hurt 🤔
To be fair his mom is English..
We have had plenty English born players play for Ireland..
Personally I don't have an issue with the question
But you're happy for Englishmen to wear an Irish jersey. Most of your best players in the Jack Charlton era were more English than Irish.
@@LordHighness Yep, well said 👏
@@LordHighness where did I say I was happy for English men to be wearing the Irish Jersey?
"because I'm Irish" haha love it
You love the fact that he's pointing out and confirming which country he was born in 🤔
Easily impressed, but slightly embarrassing 🤭
@@Your_Lou_Sassoleembarrassing for the journalist, what was he meant to answer to such a stupid question 😂
@@Your_Lou_Sassolebecause the English journalist is so thick,he never did his research. A bit like most English people when it comes to the history of Ireland!
@@Your_Lou_Sassolehaha everyone who reads your comment is embarrassed at your lack of understanding as to why its such a great answer 😂
@@SW-ok8qr Which part of that did you have to edit?! 😂🤣🙈
Not the brightest 🤔😬
There was never a chance someone born and raised in Ireland would be pulling an England shirt on. Silly question.
So they shouldn’t complain about Rice and Grealish then
we dont. still funny seeing rice sing the english anthem considering he tweeted his support for the IRA. why would we want someone thats that unloyal@@John-cj9er explains why he's willing to play for chelsea, west ham and arsenal.
It happens in some sports. Granted Ferguson was never going to do it.

"What's the reason you're so committed to Ireland?". YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS?
Seems like a very grounded and likeable guy. Brighton is a great place for him to be at this stage of his career, under a solid manager that plays good football. Good luck to the guy.
Crooky what a ridiclous question - he's irish.
"Why are you so committed to Ireland? ' what an arrogant question from an English journalist. Please sack him
Irish born and bred and yas are questioning him about playing for England , England go away please. Leave irish people alone . 😢 💚🧡
Crook shocked that countries outside of England have national pride
This Lad is a class act and seems humble and down to earth. He reminds me of Harry Kane and Rooney mixed. Pls come to Arsenal
He reminds me of Liam Brady and Robbie Keane.
Robbie Keane was a wonderful striker with good movement but I feel this Lad may be a class above Keane. He is more of a complete striker because of his Strength and frame. I am not familiar with Liam Brady
Irishman rules out ever playing for England . Imagine.
What ridiculous questions. Would u like to win the treble and be golden Boot winner??
Er, no thanks, I'd hate it.
Grow up talksport. He is irish through and through ,Embarrassing question. He was developed in ireland.
This kid is going to the Top and will change the mindset and prices around irish players
He can’t even play for England because he has 3 or 4 competitive caps for Ireland but someone born and raised in Ireland would never play for England anyway
He wouldn't be accepted 🙄
Never ever play for englanistan
@@Your_Lou_Sassolemost of the English starting lineup is of Irish descent.
@@Nieljoyceniel Completely irrelevant! Where were they born?!
Also, why is it you people want to live anywhere in the world except your own country 🤔
@your did you not listen to him???
Hes irish and has no interest on playing for england
The last question wass ridiculous. The so called "elephant in the room" about his national team. Played for Ireland his entire life, was playing in Ireland until 16, no connections to England. What a dumb question
His mum is English so he does have a 50% connection to England whether you like it or not
Shame Mbappe never decided to play for England.😅
Embarrassing from talksport have some shame 🤦♂️🤣
I remember telling my brother about him and thinking how to describe him Duncan Edwards immediately came to mind. Never really looked close up at Ferguson just his presence on the pitch but then I googled Edwards and found the physical similarities remarkable.
You thought Duncan Edwards but had to Google him afterwards?
Okie, dokie. Opinion null and void.
Harry Kane so similar
Great to see Irish player doing well . Great accent , the real deal
Rice and Grealish are English as fk born and raised 😂 This guy is as Irish as the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. This topic is just silly to anyone with common sense.
This obsession by English people, with the idea that Irish people should be Brittish or somehow be grateful for the opportunity to "be Brittish" is nonsensical.
Did Crook really ask him that? What a weapon he really is.
You can tell by the itching he’s not comfortable being on camera, so humble
Elephant in the room 🙄 what a clown even asking him that question, he's clearly a proud Irishman
He has too many caps for Ireland now anyway. It's not an "elephant in the room" its simply impossible. Stop annoying him.
This guy is actually irish unlike the other 2, terrible from talksport yet again
The tans are at it again 😂
this is just so sad and irritating, the English aren't taught much about Ireland so Crook has little idea how offensive this all is.
Good to hear 🇮🇪
Another absolute shambles from Talksport. Why would you ever ask any Irish man why hes more committed to Ireland than he is to England?
But yeah lets all cry about Irish women singing a song. Tiocadh ar La 🇮🇪🇮🇪
Integraty is not for the English
There’s a different form of patriotism in Ireland, I’m born in England but my dad would let me west an England jersey growing up. He’s always going to be Irish. I don’t know how Rice could see one anthem then sing another! Lack of integrity! You pick your nation, stick to it!!
3 quality players he named didn't expect that tbh
What a lovely grounded intelligent young man.
I truly hope he conquers the world.
What a Talented footballer.
Not really comparable situations with rice and grealish compared to this lad?
Exactly he has way more potential and loyalty.
@@alibabashero I mean the fact that the other two players are english is a start
@@luca99191Rice literally played three senior games for Ireland so yeah it is very much so comparable even more so given rice’s public support for a certain republican army.

@@RB-NZ2 I didn’t know that, thanks for the extra context there
He's is Irish through and through but honestly when would Southgate ever drop Harry Kane for him to have a go,there's 4/5 years left in Harry
Top lad. COYBIG 🇮🇪 . Hope to see him in an Arsenal jersey in the near future. Loosen up those purse strings Kroenke 🙌.
Arsenal 😂 hopefully he moves to Bayern or Real Madrid
@@kmc8298 Looks a much better proposition than joining his boyhood club Man Utd atm anyway. I'm just desperate to see an Irishman playing regularly for the club for once in my lifetime. We haven't had a player from our Isles represent the club on a consistent basis since David O'Leary in the early 90's. Far cry from the 70's and 80's when the club was littered with Irish players from both the North and the South. Given the current state of Irish football atm as well it looks less likely than ever that it will be happening anytime soon with the exception of Ferguson. Not the worst shout in the world either though. Granted he's young and not yet that ready proven 20+ League goal a season CF that we require in this exact moment but he's shown enough promise up to this point to convince enough people that he has all the attributes to be a future goal merchant and is playing in a progressive, attacking, free flowing, possession based side competing in Europe with an impeccable track record of scouting and developing young unknown hidden gems. Fits our transfer policy of recent seasons as well when taking all of that into consideration 🤔.
@@oisin5684 Eddie McGoldrick?
@@Liam-ls4vt Stokesy came off the bench for last 2-3 minutes in a league cup match on one occasion before moving on. Graham Barret came on twice as a late substitute in 2 Premier League games during 99/00 season (first and only Irishman to make a PL appearance for Arsenal since the Wenger era) before a few loan spells and doing likewise. McGoldrick got his fair share of game time in his first season with the club but fell out of favour and only seems to have been used as a bit part player after that. Born and raised in London but granted he was an Irish international. Keith Fahey and Stephen O' Donnell were another two who represented the youth sides and went on to carve out respectable careers for themselves in the game in there own right but failed to make the breakthrough. In terms of being a permanent fixture and mainstay in the first team on a regular basis McGoldrick is arguably the only one who you could put a case forward for during his first season with the club and even then I think he would have been considered more of an "in and out" player at that time.

Clickbait question to get your title. Big up Ev 🇮🇪
Alex Crook showing his traditional British grasp of the concept of Ireland. Such an educated, nuanced, sophisticated people, the Brits. 🙂🙂
Proper Irishman
Good man 🇮🇪 💚
No Talksport... FIFA has ruled it out!!! Evan Ferguson has too many senior Ireland caps to switch allegiance! Great research.
Plus a stupid question anyway!
I’m Irish, what Evan says is correct. He’s Irish. But our fans are embarrassing because the same lads that are getting annoyed at this were the ones who got onto rice and Grealish for not choosing us, when they’re clearly English
Also they're not complaining about the likes of Ray Houghton, John Aldridge, Jason McAteer, Tony Cascarino and all the other many historic legends of the Irish national team who were not born in Ireland and do not have Irish accents.
Can only speak for myself but I was devastated Rice played for us then rejected us
It was weird to see Rice and Grealish getting grief when they are clearly born and bred English. If we had gotten them on board it would have been handy but it certainly shouldn't have been seen as a betrayal. They're not Irish.
@lotd those players where not wanted by England….. if you cant tell the difference no one can help you
u can born in uk but still be 100% irish.
Grealish and rice are English with Irish grandparents I understand the case for them playing for England but that don’t give us English the right to think an actual Irishman should want to play for us the reporter was a prick
Edu if you are watching sign him for Arsenal please
What a good lad, what a silly question 🇮🇪
He needs united, United need him. The young kid has all the attributes to be world class striker.
World class...not going to United then is he.
Yes he'd be great at Utd, watching Rashfords shots hit the corner flag and Antony spinning about the wing. Just what every striker dreams of.
I only want him, With De zerbi
in what world does he "need united"? lmao
I’m an Irish United fan. I don’t want Evan to come to Old Trafford because he deserves success and United are a joke
Andy Townsend is an English man but that never stopped him captaining Ireland.
Because he didn't fancy his chances of playing in the England team to start maybe? Anyway, when you're truly Irish you're aware that English pride is plenty of times fused with English ignorance when it comes to Ireland, so it's not something you'd want to play for.
Grealish and Rice are as much Irish as Joey Barton is French.
TalkSPORT and especially Alex Crook should be ashamed after that interview. The lad is born and breed in Ireland and would or even think about playing for England. AC u really are a red top hack
England want another Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker to lead the line IYGWIM LOOL
No.goals in 5 months
Id say that softened his cough
He's not a plastic Paddy like Jack Grealish and Egg Fried Declan Rice
If you don't mind, we don't like being referred to as 'Paddy'.
rice and grealish dont identify as irish at all, so they cant be plastic paddys if they dont claim it
This interviewer is clueless , he’s Irish and that’s it. 🇮🇪🇮🇪
Some of the angry Irish folk commenting here who say if you're not born and raised in Ireland or speak with an Irish accent then you're not really Irish, might want to cast their minds back to the likes of Ray Houghton, John Aldridge, Jason McAteer, Tony Cascarino, and all the other many historic greats of the Irish national team who were not born and raised in Ireland and do not have Irish accents. When it suits....
No one is saying that. They are pointing out how dumb you would have to be to think someone raised in the roi would even consider playing for England. It’s not remotely the same as the players you have mentioned
If they could have played for England they would have. Its not like Ireland was their first choice. As for an actual Irishman playing for the country that did it's very best to ruin his, not in any way the same.
Those players where not selected by england and wanted to play international football.
Massive difference
Can he still play for england
Why are they still asking him its not even possible? Such ignorance it must be generational haha
The brass neck is incredible!! Would you aspire to do the things Erling Haaland did last season, er not really. What a Goon! Journalism at it's very worst.
Best united fan there is
Good man Evan.
I'm getting sick of hearing this rubbish. Ferguson can't commit to England cause he's played like 8 games for Ireland and for a player to make an international switch you have to play a minimum of 3 games. MOVE ON AND LET FERGUSON PLAY FOR IRELAND FFS!!!!!
Crooks embarrassing himself there.
He's played competitive games for Ireland. If this hack had any researching ability maybe he'd have discovered that.
Good man your self ,,
good young player better staying with Ireland as he as a far better chance getting regular games for them at the min England a full of top players, so its more likely he would not make our squads
It's not the same as when they tried poaching Rice and Grealishwhen they were so young before they both realised what they were doing
