They'll be fighting relegation next season, the owner has delusions of grandeur thinking because they finished 6th and then 10th despite playing European football they should be a Champions League club. They sold ÂŁ200m of players and spent very little, giving new contracts to ageing players Milner and Welbeck is fine but you have to bring in younger players with top level experience .

I liked him as our manager up to a point. But the guy only had one method of play - attack. It was fine when we had our best players running about and scoring, but when injuries hit them, the defence was exposed and we started losing very easily. His method was found out - Everton and Luton both did a number on us simply by working around it. Whilst I loved the aggression and ambition to always go and win the game, the strategy belied a naivety or arrogance that hurt us time and again. He never seemed to accept that, or learn from it. But I will always love him for getting us into Europe for the first time -- that was an amazing achievement.

it's not that hard to understand. De Zerbi wants to compete. Brighton want to develop and sell. It's two different philosophies. Brighton sold De Zerbi's midfield for amount of 150mil. What in the world did they do with that money? Honestly. They are a feeder club and that is their priority that is all. De Zerbi's priority isn't playing to sell. It's simply a difference of philosophies.

Brighton have done brilliant but history tells you that these business models only last so long. Buying young or talented players then selling on for big money will work for a certain about of time. Look at Southampton. They had a fantastic 5 or 6 seasons in the Premier League under Pochettino and Keoman, but then they reach a peak and dropped. Leicester are another example. Came from nowhere had a few really outstanding seasons then dropped like stone when their best players left.

I think the reason why Brighton is never going to be a consistent top club like say Liverpool is because the Amex stadium capacity is not enough at 32k, if increased to 50k this should ensure more fans if our finest players were not sold on, the media news about these players and the improving results on the pitch will definitely attract extra loyal fans.
Maybe Brighton was over achieving or surprising itself by how well things were going these last few years pushing the boundaries with great managers & players that brought favourable results but by taking profits by selling our best to higher clubs ready to poach with no-limits cash will put the brakes on progress here.
Hopefully we can retain a premier mid table club but the fans would love to see the Albion as a consistent top 6 club. I Believe Roberto De Zerbi was our best manager & will very much be missed.

You can't take away the keeper and your two best midfielders and somehow expect progress. On top of that mitoma has been injured for last parts. ultimately Brighton are the latest Southampton. sooner or later, the replacement for players sold won't live up to standard and you'll tumble down the league. finished below palace as well.

Brighton have a certain model with regards Transfers, in the early days in the Premiership Brighton wasted money on 4 or 5 very average plays all around 15 to 20 million. Now they look for young players to add value and experience pros . This model was very similar to what Clough used at Forest in his early days there. De Zerbi s tactics were great till other teams saw how vulnerable Brighton were to counter attacks. That said the injuries this season have been terrible. If they finish 10th it will be their 3rd top 10 finish , amazing for a club that spent most of its history in the old 3rd and 4th divisions.

This is because some of the games Brighton dropped points in were winnable games like Luton or Burnley for example.

And To think There was Hype for De Zerbi to replace Poch. What people don't understand is the Dezerbi was Very Successful in hus first Season because He Inherited an Inform Brighton Side, That Grem Potter Built, Drilled and Moulded for 4 seasons.. De Zerbi Never Built that team. Now that Key Players were missing you Can really See how Difficult a Job it was For Potter to Have that team playing the Type of Football they did, And Now that De zerbi had to Do it With the Limited resources Potter Had he Couldn't.. So People Laughed a Potter, Who for me Is A Far Better manager and Building Coach than most managers in that League.. If Chelsea And Strasbourg are Smart They Should Get rid of Patrick and Hure Potter to Rebuild Strasbourg.. Give him 2-3 Seasons with the young players hes Got plus the few experienced ones and I Positive Strasbourg would be Top 4 Fighting for Trophies..
