Hi, guys. This is me. 44:11 . Thank you again. It's been a long few months. He had just turned 41 right before he passed. Hearing this come up both made me cry and smile . For the record, the last video he was able to watch was the spiciest food challenge!
I'm so sorry for your loss. Both of my parents have passed and grief is horrific. 41 is no age so I'm sure there is also an amount of anger or feeling of injustice that comes with that. I was there everyday for my Dad when he was dying and the only day I wasn't there was the day I was giving birth to my son. I was unprepared for anger that came with the grief but I sought help from my doctor and got through it. I know it's not the same but I hope you have love and support around you.
RIP to your brother! GMM and Mythical Kitchen has been what I've viewed during my darkest times
@@moorenicola6264 thank you for your comment. It has been a roller coaster of emotions for sure this year. Both our parents have passed as well and he was the eldest of us siblings so extra hard.
@@CECEaf thank you. I agree, finding joy on dark times is important and Mythical has definitely been an important part of finding that joy!
I'm so sorry for your loss. My brother passed away in 2011. The loss of a sibling is a unique pain. Hugs to you.
What a beautiful last message. People love podcasts like this because it comes down to human connection. If we're feeling lonely or sad listening to humourous or lighthearted content can lift our mood. Listening to your relationship and discussions can make people feel included. We can also listen with friends and we all can agree or disagree. It's all about connection. Thank you x
wasn't expecting to cry today. RIP to the caller's brother.
❤
Same!
The regional blindness on this one is tough. I feel like they would have a much more rich conversation if they were able to talk about the burger at Freddy's, who have pretty much mastered the drive-thru smashburger.
Culvers does it too
There are fresdys in socal. They’re great, pickles take it to another level.
@@wildberry752 but based on the video I don't think they would consider Culvers to be a smash burger
Arizona has Freddie's does California not? Honestly not a very good burger IMHO.
Visiting France without Paris is actually the best way to go about it and it has been for almost a decade
Some tips from a Belgian (France is our number 1 holiday destination by a long shot): do a coast to coast road trip along the Pyrenees (very nice by car, better by motorbike, absolutely godlike by bicycle but not for the uninitiated), go camping in the Vosges (I seem to remember reading somewhere it's the region with the highest amount of camp grounds per square kilometer in all of Western Europe), get hammered in the Champagne region by going from castle to castle (literally the most boogie pub crawl ever but you don't necessarily need to pay a fortune because you buy straight from the supplier), French Flanders is an absolute gem if you can stand the rain (especially good if you like seafood 🦞), Bordeaux is nice if you can stand the intense sun and are big into wine, ...
For a decade? I’ve got thirty years of going to France and Paris has always sucked
Edit: and, importantly, tarnishes the rest of the country’s reputation
@@shadebug I was just trying to be kind, you know how the Parisians be, don't want to step on their toes too much 🤣
Agreed, Paris is incredibly overrated
The only reason I would go back to Paris is to see la Musee de Parfum de Fragonard, but their factory is in Grasse, and their flagship shop is in Marseille, so I don't even need to go to Paris at all and can spend my entire time on the southwest coast.
Them not bringing up Italian beef during the bread goo section is a criminal offense
This food podcast started out as a wrestle podcast, then a food podcast, then quickly became a "Josh never hit puberty" podcast. Then went back into a food podcast. The random turns this podcast takes!! 🤣
Didn't expect to tear up today but it's true, you can be entertaining and a safe space at the same time. Thank you for all that you do.
so good to hear Josh defending wrestling on the podcast
Culver's, that is all
Wait I just realized us smash burger people have went back to the finer basics like snobby steak people 😓we are the snobby burger people lol
Josh saying he doesn't like cooking beef into a different texture, while also talking about birria tacos being delicious is something else.
I think the fries and colesaw on sandwiches was so Truck drivers could eat with one hand...
You guys are like my comfort stuffie on a rainy night.
Steak ‘n Shake is my first experience with smashburgers way back in the day, but they were never described as such, so I never thought of them as such.
I also never really knew the term smash burger until watching George motz videos.
So good.
26:08 that’s a meatball on a bun
Nicole's exasperation on "Heme... HEME" is so relatable 😂
I agree with Nicole. Give me a smash burger, and don't cover up that delicious seared flavor with things like lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, etc... For me though, it's not about the texture, it's that you get more flavor from the browning.
Wrestling is theater if everyone was a stunt person.
We have a place called steak and shake. Their smash burger only the edges are crispy. The middle is softer. Its personally my favorite. Garlic double or Cajun smash burger with a green mint oreo milkshake are my go too. Fries are okay. Their cheese sauce is fantastic. I don’t like burgers unless they are smashed. Ill eat them but like i dont really care for them
Steak and shake is the best
…i’ve seen them and have never stopped. i absolutely neeeeed that mint oreo shake, thank yall.
crying into my coffee rn unexpected twist
I dont like smash burgers, but i dont love them super thick either. Got to find the sweet spot.
I feel like Josh would like the burger festival we have in Wellington New Zealand every August. Local restaurants have interesting burger concoctions that they submit and then people vote on their favourites to win.
44:00 blessings to you brothers spirit and wherever he sought after this life, condolences to your family, and Idk if this means anything or helps at all but I like to think us fans have a similar connection to the one between us and them, but like even weirder because none of us really have a direct impact like they do on each of us or us collectively on them, but like he said I'm sure that most of us would get along great and be good friends, there's a reason we all get something so deep from the same content, and for whatever it's worth Nicole wasn't alone in shedding some tears for your brother, I can't truly speak for the whole community of course but I know myself and many others will be mourning him with you just like Josh and Nicole ❤ may you and yours find some closure and joy in watching this episode and in having that clip at the end to cherish forever
❤ I honestly did tear up some when it came on. I had forgotten I had called in. It was cathartic honestly.
Without watching past 5 seconds, the answer is yes. Yes, they are.
one of my favorite episodes!! this was really good
yes, yes they are over-rated.
You both are good at what you do. Both so young and so much to do. I thank you for the brain giggles.
Hugs to the last caller ❤
Good mythical kitchen! And morning.
idk smash burgers are like cappuccinos to me. skimping on the texture, thickness, and mouthfeel by smashing it. skimping on the milk by frothing half my beverage and leaving me sucking on bubbles.
several pauses for the innuendos, ofc
so youre saying you dont like "blowing bubbles"
@@WHIT3N1NJAi do like blowing bubbles. why pay someone else to do it for me?
Smash bugers overrated? Just the latest manifestation of internet smugness. "This is the way I like it and if you don't your an idiot." argument. The internet has certainly increased the speed of cliche.
The fancy thin burger makes more sense. You can add more toppings without having to dislocate your jaw like a snake to eat it.
Hot take, but big juicy burgers are nasty to me because of how flavorlessly wet, messy, and dense they are, not to mention I can barely take a bite around them and just can't stand the texture. That's why I like smash burgers, cause they're the only burger I can stand to eat
YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME!!! You release a burger episode during PESACH?!?!?! Do you know how many days left I have to go without bread? (Well, it's not till Tuesday Night, as I kind of killed my checking account buying food for Pesach and have to wait till payday. Still, this is all your fault.) And, naw brah, no cheese for me. Not on my burger!
My hot burger take is that I don't like brioche buns on a burger.
A summary of why: They don't bring enough texturally, the flavor competes with the beef instead of complimenting it, and 90% of the brioche buns you get are flavored with artifical butter flavor, which I don't like.
I love the sweet and salty mixture of Nicole and Josh
worked at a restaurant that served smash burgers. we weighed each meatball, to become a patty, to 2 oz with a scale. Burgers were served 1/4 lb or 1/2 lb, which really is as simple as using 2 patties or 4 patties. No trickery trying to serve less meat than usual burgers.
I’m with Josh on this one for burger patty texture, I don’t like when it crosses from “crisp” into “tough/mealy”
Who left these raw, non-caramelized onions right next to me?? 48:02
Chip butty from the UK:
Bread, butter, ketchup, chips.
Carby, fatty, sweet, acidic
We do it in Ireland too but it's got to be chipper chips on soft white bread. Let's not forget the crisp sandwich too 🤢
Smash burgers should be cheaper than a regular burgers on fast food places
The guys from JOLLY just put out an episode of their first time in Philadelphia and Chef Chris Cho took them to Angelo's for their first cheesesteaks...looks like I need to see that place for myself one day!
Im with Josh on the architecture problem of the chonky fancy burgers, and frankly i dont mind if the thin patty becomes more supporting cast than the star of the show. I always loved the fancy burgers with egg and random bullshit but it just gets far too soggy for the buns and hard to get some of every topping in each bite
local burger shop recently switched away from wrapping their smash burgers, ive tried to convince them to wrap them but they refuse. the dont understand the bread goo
Absolutely loved it it was shades of Ruthless aggression back in its full form
Josh looked a little annoyed when Nicole sang Opinions are like Casseroles
I use to work streetfood here in trinidad, and I loved it. I worked for this guy havet his one guy who made burgers popular here. I remember another franchise that came out back in 2000 or so, d&r burgers, a 24 hr place that randomly popped up everywhere and those burgers came with all the toppings for $6ttd at the time. now I cant buy a burger as I made them so long. xo, stay safe and awesome everyone
Cream cheese is the superior dip for a soft pretzel, whether it’s salted or a cinnamon sugar pretzel
Someone show Josh the movie “The Late Bloomer”.
I went to WWE Raw once as a non-fan and watching it live was amazing. I highly recommend. Let yourself go into the theater of it. I still don't like wrestling but watching WWE live is great
You need to have The Rock on Last Meals.
Not a fan of the crispy burger, but Medium-rare ground beef really never made sense to me.
Wresling may be pre determend may be,,fake"but when you fall, you fall some moves stil hurt an you can stil get badly hurt.
Just like you can get injured in professional dancing…which is also totally choreographed.
As someone that has texture issues with food, burger goo is a problem...not a good thing for me.
Nicole, heart of palm is very common in Southeast Asia and South America. Half the world uses it in their cuisine! It's definitely not just Jewish culture. 😅
God I haven't had Primantis in so long. So good.
I live in Philly, and you finally put to words in a way I could never explain WHY Angelos is so much better than any other cheesesteak. There is no other answer when it comes to “who does it best” 👏👏👏👏
Not having arm pit hair in college is wild. I’m a girl and I’ve had armpit hair since middle school!! 😂😭😭
Just found a new podcast to sleep to 🔥
The best compliment that could be said.
Cinnamon sugar pretzels and cheese sauce makes sense to me because sweet and salty, and cheesy and spicy. I've never tried it, but logically, it makes sense.
Josh's worst food opinion is not having room for soft pretzels. Yes, the quality of them runs from abysmal to incredible, but to dismiss them is lunacy.
Fall off the bone ribs is the best!
I wonder what Josh and Nicole think of the “Juicy Lucy” burger?
“Buttie” is a terrible name for a food.
The British isles does not agree with you. Chip/sausage/bacon/egg butties are awesome.
Smashburgers have changed my life.
George motz has changed my life forever.
Did we really 'lose our way' with smash burgers? They were still out there, but everyone was measuring burgers by what was popular at fast food chains on the coasts and at the big restaurants in NY and LA. Meanwhile, smash burgers quietly continued on in the 'flyover states'.
Good mythical kitchen
It's funny how 15 years ago all the celebrity chefs said smashing your burger was the worst thing you could possibly do.
Schoop hamburgers is are local chain for.over 50 years. We also have Miner Dunn for.50 plus years too. Northwest Indiana. Never out of style
Josh for the aged steak burger take off 2 ounces and stuff it with smoked gouda.
On a side note smash burgers are pretty overrated. Tiktokers and youtubers have drove them into popularity. I can get being a good burger if its good just cause its smashed doesn't make it good. A great burger is all about salt, grease, and beef.
Don’t mock a chip sammi until you’ve tried it. Bread with butter, chips, tomato sauce 😋 (translate from Australian)
just add a second patty?
24:50 Nicole out here just eating sauced up grilled cheese "Bun, cheese, bread, sauce"
So why doesn't someone create pre-smashed frozen burgers?
Love y'all, but no . . i can't agree. Crunchy, crispy burgers are terrible. We make and grill them an inch thick (to start) and that pink in the middle is terrific. Smashburgers can never have the juicy, run down your arm feel of a good thick hamburger. Also, forget the ground beef. Ground Angus Chuck makes the best burgers.
Do you want a sandwich built around meat, or a sandwich that you feel like having meat on? Your choice, and that is how you'll rate things.
Ratatouille challenge You take a bite of cheddar then you take a bite of strawberry then you take about a both. I hate making sweet and salties but man was that good
It’s 3am in la? I’m scared
Killer Burger in pdx has some amazing and weird burgers that I feel Josh would enjoy!
Do y’all not know about Steak n Shake ? Yeah their steak burgers but their smashed. If major fast food chain would kill smash burgers then they are already dead. Steak n Shake is from the 30’s.
Steak n Shake was head and shoulders above all other burgers till that guy (Sardar Biglari) took control of the company in 2008 and literally ruined them. So so sad.
I agree with Josh about the ribs. Especially pork ribs gotta be chewy ❤❤❤
Definitely should try Shake Shack.
Puberty is so individual. For me everything else developed before my period came. I doubt I'm alone in that.
Awesome job Josh with the podcast drop a like see you on Tuesday.
Not the fan of the greasiness of a smash burger...I personally like a thicker juicy burger like what you can get at a pub or restaurant...not a Denny's.
Can we get more pictures as a little bonus for the people who watch. Also, more live googling or fact-checking!!! Get one of the mythical kitchen crew to be yalls version of stevie ❤
I think nicole is more attractive when she doesn't wear make up
I hate that I understood the Ken Bone reddit reference.
Yes
Smash burgers are the best with the lot, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, bacon, egg , onions, bbq sauce. In Australia that’s the way they were always made until recently there are a few American style burgers. You need to taste the other ingredient s not just a big chunk of meat.
Absolutely not.
next time u got to in n out grab a 2x4 mustArd grileed with fried onions
I feel like I saw the Reddit thread that spawned this conversation....
Smash fries from Smashburger are absolutely goated.
the reason you can eat burgers below well-done at restaurants is because they make the ground meat themselves. If it's packaged and sold as ground meat it has to be fully cooked.
But why would that make a difference in how safe it was?
@melbapeach162 Restaurants can cut off the exterior layer of the beef, which is where the bacteria live. That's why fancy steak houses have steak tar tar. It's perfectly safe to eat.
I only use worse help, my haters motivate me.
Nah smash burgers are underrated there isn't enough of them
Yes. Next!
if you cook a burger to 165 you are literally ruining the beef
