Linus going over the details of that Sun Microsystems case like it was a legit contender was hilarious.
i would literally use it if it was a sun microsystems!
i'd like that just for the nerd cred. i'd take it, no joke
That case is honestly super cool, id love to use it
@@robertlinke2666 Ditto.
Sun Microsystems was really cool though. There were a lot of extremely intelligent people working there. Just look at the list of Sun Microsystems employees on Wikipedia. All of them except for three have their dedicated articles.
I originally had no intention of watching the whole damn thing, but it was surprisingly good. I liked the rando premise, which is actually pretty relevant for those of us on old/budget/secondhand/donated hardware. Alex was a good wingman, and a shout-out to Anthony who was trying to avoid the cameras, but failed. 😁
I love the idea of "LTTNotCom"; I'm nowhere near BC, but somehow it seems to round out the LTT Death Star you've been building (as well as dispose of all the reviewed stuff you're drowning in). It's like a Lego Store -- you might not have one, but the world is better for having it.
Still don't know how to apply to purchase the frankenPC (I'm not on social media so I probably won't find out soon enough to participate), but great fun nonetheless. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

I would not be surprised if most of what he shoots is in one take
Takes cost money. The fewer takes the better.
i mean, this is how he makes his videos to begin with

@Ralph Reilly ah yes, being able to afford smth means you can't be shocked by the price anymore
@Ralph Reilly While this might be true, and I honestly think you grossly overestimating the amount of money they have lying around as they tend to reinvest everything into better studios, better equipment and the likes, I also believe that he's a shrewd businessman, and as such every "unneccessary" spending pains him - as it should.
@@logirex exactly what I was thinking. It costs them nothing and in fact makes them money. Not having a dig, just running his business, but let’s not think any sort of philanthropy just occurred.
This seems like such a fun stream. You are doing great work Linus!
I was surprised to see the Phononic Hex make a return from the peltier cooling video. I still happen to have one (just missing the mounting hardware) from my parents' friend, who, if I recall, manages commercial sales for the company. I have yet to try it because I'm unsure of how it'll work, but I imagine it'll be okay with 65w processors.
Seeing Alex chuckle at Linus' reaction to the $4K GPU being in the running was all I needed to see today.
I'm only halfway through this video and this is one of the best LTT videos in quite a while. You guys push out really good content regularly, but events like this take it to the next level - love the concept and would love to see this become a recurring thing down the road. It's kind of like Scrapyard Wars - don't do it too often but every once in a while, something wacky like this is a ton of fun to watch. Thanks!
I'm only halfway through this video and this is one of the sexiest videos the LTT group has put out I've already came twice! keep at it bois maybe next time have Linus insert the plug :) that would send me over the edge!

Im still using an AZZA GT1 case. I've rebuilt my system 4 times in the same case. The mobo tray completely slides out the back so you can do all of the hard ware stuff out side the case then just slide it in and hook up your cables, and the display window and internals can be flipped from right side to left side. Its great.
These livestreams really separate the wheat from the chaff. Linus has been in front of a camera for so long that this felt like a fully edited and scripted video. Writers, behind the scenes crew, massive props to you all. Production is top tier at LMG.

This morning at a store an employee gave away free chocolate. Since i don't line chocolate that much, i declined. She gave me anyway, telling me i can give it to colleagues. A bit later at the checkout she came back to me and told me: "Back in Bulgaria we have a saying: Even if it's a slap in the face; If it's free, you take it"
Great saying and lovely employee 😃👌
im from bulgaria and shes not wrong
Basicly, I have to be very suspicious of anyone who doesn't like chocolate.
All of us Bulgarians should gather on this comment :D
Some people earn a lot of money from guys who pay to be slapped in the face, so I don't see a problem with that saying. :D
the difference is that she actually gave you the chocolate, instead of telling you that she will do so at the end of the interaction, then 3 hours later she ran off, and you never heard from her, or seen chocolate ever again. #linusbreaksguitars
This was honestly one of the most entertaining streams you have ever done! I'm sure it was an expensive video to produce, but I really enjoyed it!
Linus, you are the only one that I can watch for 3h+ building a PC. Keep it up!
Love the candid and honest answers to questions no matter what they are 👍👍
2:51:09 This is what makes an experienced presenter. Automatically, instinctively even, mirroring his hand gestures for the viewers, to mimic a line going up. It's like a good sport instructor, saying "now we move our right arm" (then moves their own left arm).
There is something great about these kinds of builds. Linus slightly out of his comfort zone but still professional af and doing some awesome work
1:20 Linus' face is priceless, literally going from "I'm about to have fun!" to "Holy shit this could actually be more expensive that I thought, and I'm the owner of this company".

Crazy how they make it so professional, and yet there live. More live streams should be like this.

@linus I'm about an hour and a half in, and you're talking about 6 conductors on 1 harness connector and the other kind having 3hot and 5gnd... So I'm not familiar with the specific product, but I think I can help with the reason (without math). 1st: electricity actually flows from gnd to pos.. it works either way u draw it out, but bare that in mind (we call earth "ground", but in reality, the atmosphere is negative and earth is positive). 2nd: the loads of a circuit take the push of the line (power feed) down. 3rd: the push (pressure... Voltage) measured after the load, subtracted from before the load, is called "forward voltage"... My point is;
Because electrons flow from gnd to pos in vDC, there is higher voltage, higher amperage, and higher resistance.. hence the reason for more gnd wiring. I'd also imagine that AT LEAST 1 (maybe 2) of those gnds are shield gnd.
Last nerdy thing... If the wire's sheathing (not the connector... I feel bad for people that have food theory and just can't get good product) is able to control the heat from the amp draw in each wire, then it's very likely that this "smaller wiring" may actually have finer strands within the conductor.
Electrons travel on the outer edge of their conductors. The inner (core)of the conductor acts as more of a heat sink. If u use more strands in finer wire, the electrons have more surface to flow, heat escapes WAY TOO FAST, but can be controlled by say XLPE sheathing... A wire can melt and stay contained in the sheath, turning it into a larger solid core, instead of acting like a fuse.
I think the issue of the company ur talking about, is SOLEY a pour choice in terminal pin style and size.. not the wiring

On the topic of physics bullcrap branching off of the Ray tracing convo. Keen Software House made the game Space Engineers with a Space and planets physics built into the (The game engine they run is their proprietary game engine that they build) engine (sandbox game) then they added fun stuff like the warfare 1 + 2 updates that are tons of fun. Or at least they will be. But the game won't run on my laptop anymore. (not their fault this isn't a gaming laptop) And I fixed the problem by sinking 2000 into a gaming PC desktop.
So, Matias is a Canadian keyboard maker and possibly the only manufacturer of the Alps mount switches. Alps Electric made fantastic keyboard switches which are coveted to this day. Matias was a Apple keyboard 3rd party manufacturer that used Alps switches and once those were gone they began producing their own. The Quiet Click switch referenced here was released as a key switch acceptable to stenographers that needed a reliable and quiet key switch. Matias keyboard are expensive, but the board is not a bad buy, though a gamer may be unimpressed.

Damn, that 8350 and Cross hair V MB was what in my one and only PC build. Worked well for many years but it made my apartments central heating obsolete.
For the record, I have an 8350 in my build oc'd to 4.4 (Crosshair Formula -Z) and it still can run all the newest games without issues. The only limiting factor I've run into is with ram and the vram on my video card (which I may upgrade to buy some more time) I haven't built a new system because I haven't needed to, and I tend to build the highest end I can afford, then make it last forever before the next build (around 12 years on this one so far) Yes I'm hitting the time I need to do my next build, but with prices being what they are, I'll be saving for a while for top end.
Hey Linus you have probably already figured it out for the mics, but maybe you can try with something like reaper audio DAW or other DAW software to run your vocals through a gate so the mics activate only when you pass a set threshold in db, maybe that can help but I do not know anything about live streaming precisely, anyways you all make very good content I really love your videos 😉

I hope he does more of these... I really enjoy this... another idea is to have a sign up.. This! I would love a version were we get to root for (or troll) the person who bought it! But there might be an issue to get sponsors if they risk becoming the "bad" alternative? Unless they roll with it and for example Intel sponsors them with a 10 y/o shit cpu and a high end monster for example. That could be fun to watch.
