DISCLAIMER
this requires basic computer skills
Important information
! You need a usb flashdrive, or thumb drive 32gb or below fat32 formatted (ideally empty)
! Unplug your kinect before turning on your xbox
! Xboxes without the 4gb internal memory or without an hdd will fail to install the update
! If you encounter errors you need to clear the extra data on a hidden partition on your xbox (will not be discussed here)
basic meaning:
1. knows what a zip or rar is or what a USB flash drive is
2. understand basic computer function such as rename, copy, paste, eject usb, download stuff online and google
this guide is not to be FOLLOWED as-is or straight directly as instructed. you must adjust BASED on your situation specifically your xbox dashboard version
1. know your xbox dashboard version
2. download the update file depending on your xbox dashboard version
ex. if you have 17511, then you need to search 17511 dashboard update
you cannot use a 17511 update on a 17480 dash or a 17510 dash or any other dash
! this is not a noob guide !

Remember to format the UNFORMATTED memory unit in the system so that the security update will pop out.

My dashboard is 2.0.16547.0 after downloading the dashbosrd for the 16547 im still facing the same error and the kinect still dosent work. Any idea on hoe to fix it ?

use a usb with steps provided in the video to be sure
also the update will update 2 things
1. dash update
2. kinect firmware
it will trigger another update if the firmware of kinect is old

I did everything and i got to the level you press yes to update and then nothing happens. What do you suggest?
usb must be fat32
It is fat32. The xbox can read it but when I press yes it doesn't start the update.

Make sure your xbox jtag or rgh is modded, fat32 formatted usb, correct version of the update, usb port is working no partial update file are present

You will know your xbox is jtag if.
1. You have freestyledash or aurora on your screen
2. When your xbox is off and you press eject you will see xell bluescreen
3. If you think your xbox is not rgh or jtag. Just update online Or follow the official update guide from Microsoft

@@prmzngph so i pot the extracted file $systemupdate on my hdd and you can't custemize your avatar in the og dashboard so i went to aurora dash and it worked so the only way to access the update is throw an aurora dash thx it worked for!me

no need to rename if xbox is not rgh, make sure usb is fat32 MBR not gpt/ntfs /exfat

Nagpalit ako ng HDD, ginawa kong SSD. Nagkaron ng error na "a system update is required to use kinect". Dami ko ng sinundan, ito lang yung nagwork. Salamat :)

For xbox fat you need the external power
If it doesn't work, it's probably your kinect sensor that's already gone
