Hello, I know this is 4 years old. Started mine and it ran for a sec then quit. Chain must have jumped a few teeth and wouldn't start. Is there a way to check for bent valves before I replace chain?
Oh! By the way! Awesome video, cleared up a lot of questions I had and you were great in step-by-step, it kept my mind from wandering and on task. Thank You!
Great video! I don't recommend removing the cams, you can easily break bolts when you torque the caps back on, I spun two new bolt heads off in less than an hour, if you do break a bolt use a small wood chisel and tap with a hammer, should come right out, whatever you do don't try drilling them out it's not worth the trouble, that's what I did first...
can I ask why in the final parts of the video where you show the marks on the timing chain to be in alignment, the balancer chain and gears are not in alignment. I am guessing they are 180 out, but does this affect the engine at all?
@@aszfy8901 Ricardo Gonzaga, We have a 2005 Saturn Ion and we were able to replace the serpentine belt on that car just using a 3/8" drive long handle ratchet. We didn't have the special serpintine belt tool with the 3/8" drive on it. But you do need a helper.to get the belt off and new one on while someone holds the tensioner. About 8 months later the alternator went out and we had to move the tensioner again to take the belt off of the alternator and we did it all without removing the motor mounts. With the new alternator, we just let the belt hanger there, did not take it completely off, until we had the new alternator in place and then put the belt on the new alternator by moving the tensioner. Seems if you can do it with a 2005 you should be able to do with a 2003? Maybe not?
What a magnificent video. Thank you so very, very much. Your narration was perfect.
AWSOME presentation GOD BLESS YOU
great video, i just did one that lost the chain and bent all the valves, lots more work pulling the head and replacing them! But it's runnin now!
How many miles can the chain go before it needs to be replaced?

you can do it without removing the cams?
Yes, the sprockets come off
going to do this today, did you drain coolant and oil ?
You didn’t say anything about that, but at least I would’ve changed the oil. Perhaps the coolant as well, but definitely the oil.
Aren't the cam bolts also stretch bolts and need replacing when removing? Im trying to figure out the marking to line up the camshafts. Good video
Super helpful - thanks!
Nice

Great video!
Great video
Thanks for the video ,you made a pain in the arse job look like a piece of cake . could have done with a little more info on tensioner adjustment
What size hex did you use for the plug? Awesome video btw
He used a 3/8 hex, torx works too.
good video but you never showed us how u took the bolts toward the end of the video
Is it possible my car needs only a new timing chain if the engine stopped on the freeway after hearing alot of rattling and loss of power?
Jason Schaible I have the same question the exact same thing happened to me
@@gabeortiz7242 your chain probably went and bent all the valves, much more work if that;s the case.
@@gabeortiz7242 It's likely you guys need new cars.
Can you tell where can I get camshaft key stock the square one dont work need help with this
Good afternoon, excuse me, where does the crankshaft sensor go in that truck?

Perfect, Thanks for this!
Sup pops!!!
Oh God
Should I drain all fluids? Coolant/oil

What is your opinion on the Saturn VUE V6 motor. Does it use a TIMING CHAIN AS WELL?
V6 is a belt
okay i did everything you did but now its just turning over it wont start up any ideas why?
Your timming is off. Hopefully you didn't bend the valves
What is the other chain behind the timing chain?
balance shaft chain and it needs to be replaced along with the timing chain also tensioners and gads along with oiler
Arocks can you remove and change the serpentine belt without removing the motor mounts?
Anybody, I got the same 2.2L Saturn 2003
No.

I did the alternator on a 2.2 did not touch motor mount . Also took pulley tension off using a separate jack on a wrench from below
