In a different universe, what if Microsoft used a different roadmap than the one currently used in the original today? This video is all about that. Below are all of the versions that will be featured in the timeline (it will also be shown at the beginning of the video), including not just alpha-betas but for the first time ever, OEMs (although not most of them converted to ATL from the wild). In addition, there will be future versions after the past where Microsoft continues to support Windows until the year 2127, where Microsoft rebrands to a new name (NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL WINDOWS TIMELINE, PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER THIS TO BE A ORIGINAL FUTURE WINDOWS BEYOND PROJECT).
Non-Windows family [both Unix and DOS]: *1977-1999

- XENIX Manager (an Interface Manager predecessor, a first of a one of a kind windowed shell on top as non-graphical): 1982-1984
Windows family [main] (previously Microsoft Interface Manager, Microsoft GUI [MS-GUI]): *1983-present
Desktops:
- Windows (client for home users): 1983-2000 (DOS-based), *2000-present (NT-based)

- Windows Legacy Client (for low-spec PCs, discontinued due to technological advancements on hardware): 2003-2012
- Windows Legacy Embedded (for low-spec embedded systems, a Windows 10-based version is speculated to be made, but then canceled): 2005-2009
- Windows NT (for business users): 1991-2001 (Windows 2000 is considered to be NT 5.0)
- Windows for Pen Computing (tablet versions of Windows 4.1 and 5.0, replaced with Pen Services): 1992-1994
- Windows RT (for ARM32 devices, Windows 12 only, discontinued): 2012-2013
- Windows Server (previously Windows NT Server, Windows Server Family (only 2000 uses this), Windows .NET Server): *1994-present

In addition, most versions are kept away from original Windows sounds as much as possible. Pre-2001/2002 versions and post-2022 versions were created and designed by me, with some used from various sources. Used both Logic Pro and Reason DAWs to create sounds intended for these aforementioned versions, with on the Reason side, used a Korg M1 VST that I got from a Discord server (thanks to magicnicko_8180 for providing!). Other sounds that are not created are credited from Microsoft, Progressbar95, fusoxide, Sectorwire, HP, etc.

This is what Windows 8 would be like in the alternate universe:
-Renamed to Windows 12
-The Old Windows logo is still used until update 3 of Windows 12
-Instead of the start screen, you get the Start Menu but modernized with live tiles (It does have a Start Screen, but only on the RT version)
That being said, full-screen Start works if the screen has a low resolution or it's a tablet with Windows RT 12.0. The normal option works in Desktop Windows 12.
As soon as I heard the remastered Windows 3.1 sounds for Windows 4.1, I knew that I'm in for some high quality.
Time traveler: Kicks a rock
Microsoft:
This video should be the standard
Such a cerebral timeline
You should had over thousands of subscribers or likes for this video. I'm so sorry about that.....
Now make the desktops, with the start menu and a window open. If you can make good boot screens, that should cross over into good looking desktops.
PS: Only make a distinct desktop for every major release. SKUs and minor projects like W/UX can be ignored (and would most likely share desktops with Windows anyway), so I want desktops for all the numbered releases.
Those Windows 5.0, 6.0 and Windows NT sounds (along with everything else of course) are just perfection. Noticing a few hints of PS1 startup sound on NT 3.0’s startup sound as well. Thanks for blessing us with a new entertainment experience and giving us access to the raw assets for our own OSM projects. I’m also curious as to how you got the old 90s sounds to get that old school WAV crunch to them (Windows 5.0 onwards)
I have never in the dozens of these videos witnessed a 1 hour ATL before.
Do you have lore behind all these versions of Windows, otherwise I want to make a response video to this developing my own lore behind these various version of Windows, lol. :D
Also thanks for publishing this!
Alternate timeline:
Someone: what are you using?
Me: Windows 11!
24:57 Progressbar 2000
Nice Windows alternate timeline!
Absolutely amazing
Incredibly underrated!
25:30 Windows 6.5 is the alternate universe counterpart of Windows ME. Windows 6.5 would be better than Windows Me of our universe
35:06 Did you make these sounds yourself?
How could be the development of Windows Project Origami in our universe?

I'm really used Windows 7.5 Fundamentals forever😊 Support never end-says me on GMMOSM Company❤
ok :/
Windows 7.5 is Windows 7.1 update for low-end computers that are unlucky enough to upgrade to Windows 8
Is it just me, or are Windows Never Released videos getting better?
yeah, no more pseudo pre-1985 versions
nice

Defuncted: October 4th, 3032 CE
Made from the best stuff, up to the top! (except Windows 2000)
Also, I ran out of battery in the middle of the premiere so I couldn't see nor chat on the premiere :(
Probably by 2128, It's the Magnesium Original Campaign
In GMM's AWTL does Windows have Service Packs, just like OTL?
Windows 8 and 9 would be both popular. Some would use Windows 8, others Windows 9 and others both at the same time by dualboot
5:23/5:27 OMG PRELIMINARY BOW!!1!
Amazing
Instructions unclear. I can run Windows 6.0 Professional Second Edition on my 1999 PC.
real?
Really? I just upgraded to Windows 7.0.
Cool!
@TheRobloxBoy404 GET THE BLENDER TO KILL
Windows 7.5 sound just like a lunarOS version sound, btw can i use your sounds?
Fellow progressbar95 gamer!
Real talk, this alternate timeline is so good i just have to make sound schemes for our timeline's windows, especially windows 5 & NT 3
What do the desktops of alternate Windows look like?
Request:Alternative Samsung Galaxy History Theme
What program you used for sounds?
Read the description.
I'll try to make a more complete AWH of my own.
It’s like MediaStation from Panasonic (1978-present).
What will Windows be rebranded as from 2127 onwards in this timeline
I asked first
Windows in 2127 rebranded to the Imperium.
Since some the sounds for the OSes in this video sound like sounds from Progressbar95, such as Windows 2000 sounding like Progressbar 2000, I think you might as well also make an Alternate Progressbar95 timeline video, which mainly contains Progress Computer systems in an alternate timeline, as well as mainly Progressbar Server systems in an alternate timeline. But the the biggest difference in that video is that there would be no future versions included. In the video, the main titular OS from Progressbar95, which is called Progressbar 95, would be called Progressbar 5.0, to make it look like as if Progressbar95 is now called Progressbar5.0. Another difference in the video is that there would be no OEM versions included. The final difference in the video is that there would be no other versions of PB-DOS except PB-DOS Shell.
ok please go beyond 2127
Windows 8: Prepare to fly 💀
Windows 8 in 2002 better than Windows 8 in 2012
Windows 8 from parallel universe is Absolutely the same Windows XP from our universe.
On the bright side Windows 11 was the best Windows ever 😂
In that timeline did 9/11 not happen
What name will Windows rebrand to in that timeline?
Microneue? Complex?
Imperium.
Galaxy?
I am just wondering, what the heck is Tyro Edition
It's for beginners who use a computer for the first time I suppose
@@sectorwireit’s named mistakenly “Starter”
Woo yee
Windows 8(2001)
What is Verbose mode?
Verbose Mode is a booting mode that replaces the graphical startup screen with a series of command lines. Those specified command lines display what Mac is doing and what drivers and software it is loading upon startup or in programming.
@@nakigoyeoh, thanks
Windows 8 Embedded 2005?
Aka Windows Omnicycle versions.
