  • Viewers are enamored with the widely acclaimed GMM's Alternate Windows Timeline. With 9K+ views in just as close as 4+ months, it serves as a remarkable achievement and dominates others who have ventured into creating their interpretations of alternate Windows timelines. Now it's getting even better. In this video, I'm proud to extend this approach by introducing Phase II.
This phase incorporates UI/UX visuals, including desktop screens, setups, OOBEs, logon screens, etc. In addition for most versions, I have included my sounds that I personally created to complement the experience, with some OTL sounds to go along with it. These elements will be showcased in the video alongside their respective versions, offering a comprehensive overview of the featured content.
    Featuring:
    Desktops:
    - Windows (client for home users): 1983-2000 (DOS-based), *2000-present (NT-based)
    - Windows NT (for business users): 1991-2001 (Windows 2000 is considered to be NT 5.0)
    - Windows/UX (Unix port of Windows, previously W/UX, discontinued due to sales declined): 1992-2000
    Portables:
    - AndromedaOS (previously PocketPC, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone): 1999-present
    - Windows CE (version for Handheld PCs, discontinued due to sales declined, replaces with PocketPC): 1997-2000
    Future screens/sounds are not affected.

The Xbox release cycle was a bit different here:
      (NA releases only)
      OG: Dec 14th 2000
      360: November 22nd 2004
      One: November 22nd 2012
      X/S: Dec 14th 2019
This means that other game console companies would be a bit faster. So that means that the GC would already be a thing by 2000, and we'd have the 360 competeing with the Wii by 2005 after having no competition throughout the last two months of '04 and most of '05. (what I'm saying here is that the Wii and PS3 would be things by 2005)

    • @itsrickyschannel.
      @itsrickyschannel. Před 5 měsíci +2

For starters it is a WINDOWS timeline, not a Microsoft OS timeline, hence why MS-DOS isnt mentioned. Yes, Windows came bundled with OS/2, but thats also because Windows was itself technically a program. Otherwise OS/2 (or whatever it may have been called in this timeline), would be using Windows 4.0 for its Windows layer and not 3.0/3.1.

    Versions of the NT kernel:
    NT 1 (1991): 1.0
    NT 2.x (1993-1995): 2.0, 2.5
    NT 3.x (1995-1998): 3.0, 3.1
    NT 4.x (1998-2000): 4.0, 4.5
By 2000, Windows for consumers was based on the NT kernel by the time Windows 7 came out in September 2000. There was a separate business version (Windows 2000) released in March that same year, but by Windows 8's release in November 2001 (for business users) and January 2002 (for consumers), such an edition was merged into the consumer version.
    Windows 7.x (except 7.5), Windows 2000 (2000-2012): 5.0
    Windows 8, 7.5 (2002-2014): 5.1
    Windows 9 (2004-2017): 6.0
    Windows 10 (2007-2020): 7.0
    Windows 11 (2009-2021): 7.1
    Windows 12 (2012-2023): 8.0
    Windows 14* (2014): 8.1
    Windows 15 (2018): 9.0
    Windows 16 (2022): 9.0
Since Windows 14, Microsoft has stuck to a 4 year schedule for Windows. Windows 17 will most likely be released in 2026.
*Windows 13 was skipped due to 13's association with evil, and the name Windows 14 would subtly condition consumers to see the new version of Windows as "new" (due to ending with 14, same as 2014, W14's year of release). During its development, Windows 14 was referred to as "Windows NextGen Preview", "Windows 13", "Windows NextGen" and "Windows 12.1". If 12.1 were picked, then that would be the first time a version of Windows was referred to with a decimal number in its name since Windows 7.5's release in 2002.

The end of support for the system was announced back in August 25, 2018, when Windows 15 it is was released and 18H2 Update for Windows 14. At the same time, they canceled the release of versions with fractional numbers, and instead released just updates.
