One tip. After washing if your cutting board doesn't have feet on the bottom to give it air flow and space underneath, you should let it dry standing on edge that way it have full air flow. If not over time it will start to cup because one side is drying at a different rate than the other. This is the biggest killer of cutting boards I have seen.
Great idea for a video.! People often get so wrapped up in the cook, that they often forget the maintenance that comes with cooking in general, as well as running a smoker etc. Kudos Ry!
My first Weber kettle is coming Monday, I got the master touch in deep ocean blue. Thanks for helping me decide on this grill.
Great video, I make cutting boards like these and you are spot on. When I make them I put about 6 coats on before selling them and I also send directions on how and when to re-coat. Now maybe I'll send them this video to take all of the guess work out of how to doit.
Sorry got to rant....Great job on the CB vid. That's how you do do it...straight to the point...unless it was a mistake...just blows my mind why you'd get a thumbs down on a honest, to the point video...🤯
Keep up the great work Ry....👍❤👍
Great instructional video! I really like your take on all aspects of cooking. From equipment, ingredients, process to result. Thanks for all your effort that you put in to the videos!
It always amazed me when I see those Taco stands using a tree stump and how well they are cured, I've asked them how old is the chopping block/stump, 10-15 years! Well preserved almost the same method your using!
I always enjoy your videos. They're low key and very competent. You're the Bob Ross of the You Tube BBQ community.
Thank you :)
Great demonstration👍 I started using mineral oil on my board, and wow does it ever make a difference!
Nice video Ry! Always informative. Thank you!
Great video Ry! I’ve got a new Boos Block and was planning a similar video for the initial seasoning. Thanks for the motivation!!! Cheers
Awesome Awesome Awesome, tysm, literally perfect explanation. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Beautiful, nicely done
Ey that was a great tip we need to lean those tips to like keeping our knifes sharpened those grinders can eat up a knife 🔪 Q: Are you a caterer or do you compete or are you just a home Pitmaster ? Either way your a good cook and a Great Teacher.
Thank you Ry 🙏🏾
Thanks! Just a guy who likes to cook 😊
Steak knives can also be seasoned the same way if they have wood handles. I never thought of it until "we" noticed all the steak knives had cracks from years of hand washing.
Do you add beeswax or conditioner after you oil it? How long do you usually wait after this 1st Seasoning before you start using it
Question, do you have any polyurethane cutting boards? I just bought 2, 21x15 polyurethane cutting boards this last weekend.
I also have 4 wood cutting boards and do this with mineral oil every 2 weeks.
I have synthetic boards. Not sure what material.
Thank you!!!
Do you recommend doing the bottom side as well, or just the top and sides?
I usually do all sides 😊
Can you use some normal cooking oil?
What type of cutting board do you use? Bamboo or wood and what is the difference
The one in this video is walnut. I also have bamboo and maple. They all work well.
@@CookingWithRy Thank-you kindly
What should I cut my meat on? Is wood cutting board bad for that?
I use wood. Just clean it using the manufacturer’s directions.
Can you over oil a cutting board and make it sticky
Excess can usually just be wiped off.
@@CookingWithRy thank you 😊
same thing i use.
What knife is this in the Video Thumbnail?!
It's listed in the video description.
Where does one find food safe, mineral oil? I'm guessing that's not your standard baby oil...
I order mine from Amazon.
Pharmacy
I bought mine at Home Depot. In the are where you buy the wood stains and paints.
My cutting board is like 20 years older than I am.
my board is feathery how can i fix it? will i get splinters on my food?
Sand it
yoo.. what knife is that in the thumbnail??
It's listed in the video description :)
@@CookingWithRy it’s like asking an associate for help finding something in the store and it’s right in front of you.. 🤦♂️ thank you sir. lol
@@rooster_saucer Been there done that :)
