What an amazing blend of melody, harmony, rhythm and lyrics. The whole package and a cool video to go with it. I liked the Bee Gees a lot in their heyday. Hang on, this is still their heyday and will continue for many, many years. And now they're my number one band. I still cannot believe how many songs of such variety and quality I somehow missed over the years. Secret Love and Above and Beyond are two examples that I now flog to death. No, I wasn't in jail. Perhaps I should have been. Robin and Maurice have gone but their contribution to our world lives on. And what a story - three young brothers playing around with harmony then growing together to become world famous. And deservedly so. Very few singers could dominate that higher octave like Barry and Robin.

However after listening to their music from the the 60s and early 70s, WOW! All those amazing music and lyrics they have created. Indeed the symbol of everlasting memories and celebration of life!!!

According to Barry Gibb, their dad would stand at the back of the audience and do a 'smile' gesture with his hands/mouth to encourage the boys to smile and often pointed at Robin and mouth to Barry "tell Rob to smile". I know that they loved singing and performing and that's a good reason to smile in intself.

Eventually, Robin caught up with Mo and surpassed him. They were beginning to get their big boy voices. It is definitely real during Wine and Women. My how time flies.
Robin and Maurice's voices had changed enough that their blend sounded more "adult"- like teenage brothers rather than Barry with two little squirt kids.
I believe Barry has a mimic talent. When they did a cover of the Everly Brothers, he sounds like the Everly Brothers. In an interview they were talking about Barry's and Michael Jackson's friendship and he sounded like Jackson. When the brothers were singing with Glen Campbell and Willie Nelson he had such a strong country quality in his voice. I think the man had complete control over his voice, that's why the falsetto came fairly easy to him.
I love the style and sound of their early music. They are all so adorable. Barry with all of his hair, Robin so full of life, and Maurice is so handsome. I feel like this was the era where Mo still had a bit of stage fright which he eventually conquered and became his funny gregarious self, and Robin was very animated until after he endured the train accident and he became more introverted. It's like the twins have always been yin and yang.
