Kenya is a country in East Africa with coastline on the Indian Ocean. It encompasses savannah, lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley and mountain highlands. It's also home to wildlife like lions, elephants and rhinos.
As part of my travel around Kenya, I explored one of the busiest markets in Nairobi called Muthurwa Market and I also tried the most popular local Kenyan dish called Ugali.
Come spend the day with me.

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana and other parts of Africa, from the food, to the culture, to the lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and other African countries.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.
As a Kenyan I can no say you're a very optimistic and open minded person. I also like the chant at the end in Ghanaian follow you bless truly 🙏 ❤
Njahi, also known as Kenyan black beans, is a highly nutritious food. These beans are rich in protein, iron, folate, vitamin B6, calcium, and various other essential nutrients. They are particularly beneficial for reducing cholesterol levels. When prepared in combination with rice, stews, vegetables, or meats, njahi makes for a well-balanced and wholesome meal.
its also good for mens reproductive health. if u know u know😜
Tell her it's usually sold at the hardware
Black-eyed peas!
Lakini inataste kama gazeti/karatasi..😂😂
Whatever reason u give wont beat the fact that its the worst tasting bean ever😂😂😂😂95% of kenyans hate it, remaining 3.5% dont know it while the rest are in denial😂😂
You are really good at exploring Kenya. I am Kenyan and I like your content. Cheers to your adventure. Cant wait for more content.
I appreciate how diverse Kenyan life is shown in your videos.
Me too..
Good job Ama for share light on Kenya market this is what we need to see true daily lives of Kenyans 😮
Thank u cx
We love and respect vistors in Kenya.
Wow, so many Kenyans in the comment. Jasmine you hit. Kindly don't forget to give us the train and matatu experience. Much love❤
Very open-minded. Very articulate. Very admirable.
(Njahi).. Is our food people from central Kenya Wapi likes?
Kenyans notice no Ghanaians are attacking your country in the comments comparing or talking down on ur country but why y’all talk down on Ghana when u see someone praising or showing off Ghana ??? Please see the love she is showing and we aren’t attacking ur country we expect the same
Great advice ❤❤❤
There are more than 50 million Kenyans and you shouldn't stereotype them all. Don't you know in every marketplace you will always find at least one mad man. Therefore grow some thick skin. There's no need of being a cry baby!
@@Om-mw5lb okay
Most Kenyans love Ghana😂very weird of you to use one kenyan to assume us as a whole...imagine using you as an example of assuming all Ghanaians are ignorant
You are a gem,you really know what you’re doing and you have a very good attitude and open mind.
Thank u 🙏🏾 🥰
For a taste of a variety of indigenous Kenyan food, try Amaica Restaurant off Peponi Road. Kenya has over 42 indigenous communities and each one has their own dishes
Your down to earth with such good looks.
🙏🏾❤️
I noticed your Mombasa air BnB had no burglar bars - that's refreshing.
I heard Mombasa is in the Swahili belt (that runs along the East African Coast). The Swahili culture is local African culture that has been heavily influenced by Arab culture and the Islamic religion - much like Northern Ghana etc.
Honestly all your videos are A+ . You also seem like someone who is highly favored.
🙏🏾🥰
The grain is called black beans or more appropriately turtle beans. They are highly nutritious and mostly a favourite dish of the Kikuyu tribes which can be eaten as is or mashed with potatoes and vegetables. Potatoes are plenty in Kenya and the market receives plenty of them fomrom Central Kenya in the county of Nyandarua which is a highly fertile and productive region. That was brave of you going to Muthurwa but you kept your wits about you and all went well. Looking forward to the Mombasa series and use the SGR train when you travel back to Nairobi.

My pleasure 🙏🏾🤗
Jasmine, I respect you for going there alone without a local and filming too. I usually find myself exiting from a totally different direction from where I intended to, the few times I go there. 🤣🤣
🤣🤣 i dont blame u. I was so lost
'they frisk you to see whether you have a bomb'... your taxi driver was so straight-forward
Hey Jasmine,Your Kenyan videos are awesome.Very interesting content.Keep the videos coming.

Muthuruwa market. You're really not restricting yourself to touristy "nice" places. Real life. Love it. I'm sad you flew instead of taking the train, though.
Welcome to the upgraded Muthuruwa. Can't wait for you to visit the new dheli of Africa - Kampala, Uganda 😂😂😂. It's crazy - maze of malls and motorcycles and humans. Enjoyed seeing how Muthuruwa has changed! Thanks for sharing.

It's so interesting to see how there are similarities that lets you know 'we are in Africa'. The market reminded me of Ghana.

Very interesting content. I love the way you film and edit your content. It makes the audience feel like they are there with you. I like the hotel room, especially the room with the balcony and the mosquito net. I can imagine the cool breeze lulling me to sleep so peacefully.

I love ur content madaam...love from KENYA
Some of the best moments visiting a new country is just going out there in the streets and minigling with the everyday people, it's where you get know and experience the soul of a country. Your accomodation at the coast is definitely the La Mera Apartments in Shanzu. It's a good budget place to stay at
Nice video Jasmine!!!

Thanks, will do! Xx
I'm starting getting addicted with your videos new subscriber from Kenya

Welcome to Kenya
Have really enjoyed this video kumbe Kenya iko beautiful hivi.... Politicians re the one's destroying it slowly
Waah.....😅 There many organised markets but it's still an experience
Roads in mombasa are just like Nairobi but mombasa has old buildings
Njahi is a traditional lugume. Its name is Kikuyu. Often mashed with potato and banana, sometimes ripe bananas. Often given to new mothers. Many people don't like it. There is a social media joke that it looks like it should be sold in hardware shops!
I strongly recommend that coming back USE SGR and preferably Day time you will have more to share. Don't miss it again
i thought so too
This is organized relatively clean with wide pedestrian paths. Not chaotic as Ghana's large open air market.
Which of the Ghanaian markets?
@@monagisellethe one near your home.
Kampala, Uganda 🇺🇬 wins hands down as the second most chatic and crowded city in the world, not just africa, behind new dheli, india.
FYI...this particular market is the most crowded, chaotic & dirtiest in Kenya....And there are plans to relocate it from downtown Nairobi... because of the city's image.
@@GOTravelhannelI think Lagos beats Kampala
hi Jasmine great video as always and how is Aisha doing well i hope ? Ashley Australia

🇰🇪🫶🏿❤️👍🏿😊
Good job
Jasmine, the market tour was very busy. (Especially that guy that tried to cover the camera)
But I didn’t see any seafood nor meats.
Is the Kenyan 🇰🇪 culture mostly Islamic since you mentioned the mosque ?
The place that you took your uber from is called Kamukunji
That ugali and meat mix the very best
