Once again your interpretations are always sooop on point. I can't even believe you managed to point that there must be a spy/double agent in a group, which is very true. So Red Force, the ones EXO are fighting, is entitiy that can be in many shapes or forms. Like you said goverment, sometimes robots, sometimes evil clones of exo members. So former member Tao that left the group in 2015 actually had power of time control so we think one of the members, probably Sehun, got the time control power from Tao. That's why sometimes EXO MVs are in reverse order. It's still not clear what scenes come first since storyline is veerryy detailed. One thing I want to add as well is that EXO's storyline is so detailed that they even incorporate their powers into choreography. In beggining when you saw the ripple effect dance ( at 2:17 ) and said it was so cool actually member D.O. was controling members, pushing and pulling them as if they were rocks. D.O.'s power is earth/force. Also another part of choreography where you paused (at 8:07 ) when members were twirling around Suho and they formed a line behind him and danced like waves. Yeah Suho's power is water. There's a lot of chpreography through years that incorporeted their powers too which is so genious to me. Thank you so much for reacting to EXO again. They are seriously so incredible and I think you are doing absolutely great job interpretating their complex storyline. Just amazing. Thank you again and I think you should deffinetly check MAMA MV to get to know their origin and powers and I think KoKoBop MV would be very interesting to you. Thank you!
I think maybe Kai got the power of time control as it's directly related to his teleportation power. In his profile card from Power album where it details their power/abilities, it's written that Kai can teleport instantly without the restriction of TIME and DISTANCE. This means he has the ability to teleport into the past and future. I think he has mentioned something about this as well about the VCR on his solo concert.
RIGHT!? He's freaking me out!! I can't tell you how many times I have seen this MV, and I never once peeped the thing with the watch being associated directly with Baekhyun, and that being a hint that he was driving the van. Of course, I am admittedly not the most perceptive human....by a long shot. Still. I am super impressed!!
This was my first EXO song when I discovered them. There was no going back after that, I was hooked. To this day I still listen to this song and all their old songs, theyâre timeless just like EXO themselves.â€ïžâđ„
For me it was overdose and at the time i first listened to it i was only listening to 3 girl groups so it was a big change made from their masterpiece

Man, you're so perceptive, I think you're the first reactor who understood the MV and observed so many details! You have my respect.. and a new subscriber, only hope for you to dig more in EXO.
For You to understand their MVs besser, you need to dig into their concept, it's a whole universe created for them, by them, starting with them being aliens from an exo (outer space) planet,every one of them has a superpower and they are chased by their enemies, the Red Force, who wants their powers ( Red Force here, as soldiers/swat team, the reason for the dominant red background). And yes, that one guy is their insider, they are seen at the table together , planning the riot and the after escape.
For the next reaction, I recommend you their debut MV "Mama" ( korean : your majesty) , both versions, korean and chinese, there is a narrated introduction and you can observe their superpowers in the video. I'm curious if you'll get all 12 right * giggle

Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything -- which includes "Monster" -- is connected in some way to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 9+ years -- since predebut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them -- including their sub-sub-unit MVs and a majority of the member's solo MVs. And because Baekhyun and Kai are involved, even SuperM's storyline -- is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story.
"Monster" was released in 2016, so there are 9 members in this MV.
EXO debuted in 2012, and in order to really understand EXO you need to start from the very beginning and watch both of their "Mama" MVs -- EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) versions. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them.
Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary.The group's concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents.
So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us.
As the English lines in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy." The song's called "Monster," so the words are about acting like a monster: "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... i'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo."
So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- also supposed to be the members using their superpowers. And the snake, like a monster, mirrors the beat of the song, which kind of slithers like a snake as a metaphor for the way the guy slithers in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc.
However, the lyrics of the song have very little to do with the story in the MV. You should look up an English translation of the lyrics. Because the lyrics tell a different story than the story in the MV. In the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. But the MV is about EXO's origin story and about the fact that they have come to Earth on a mission.
Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or watch a live performance, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason.
The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography. Every move of the choreography has been designed to be an extension of their story and it uses elements of their dance to represent several of the members using their powers. For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When you see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun.
You should also make note that "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster," so when you watch "Lotto," just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after or in conjunction with the events in "Lotto".
How "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline is a little open ended, but because "Lotto" is thought to be the prequel to "Monster," I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys who are probably members of the Red Force.
"Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Force, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So, that's why you see in "Lotto," and continued in "Monster," the members are fighting against the police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. However, the members of EXO don't want to be discovered, so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. EXO are supposed to be going about their tasks here on Earth incognito, and humanity is never supposed to find out that EXO are other-worldly beings, so they are trying to keep a low profile.
As we see in the end of "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape from the back of the police van before they are taken to jail and/or captured by the Red Force, etc.
You also see Lay crouched in the middle of what looks like a pile of people -- I'm not sure whether these are the FBI agents, or if these are members of the Red Force -- and I think he is checking to make sure they are OK and possibly trying to use his power of healing to fix things and heal the injured.
Because some theories believe that EXO are traveling between time periods and dimensions, I think in "Monster" they also might be showing how some of the members are arriving on scene at different moments in the timeline of events that are taking place in the MV -- the members don't necessarily arrive at the location together -- as explained in their Pathcode teaser videos leading up to their "Call Me Baby" MV comeback. For instance, in "Monster" you also see Kai standing on or near a giant pile of people as well, and he seems to be standing over them. Some have pointed to this as possibly showing evil X-EXO Kai -- Kai's alter ego clone that was created by the Red Forced and introduced in EXO's "Obsession" MV -- who has done something bad, but I think this may be showing good EXO Kai, who has just shown up at that moment, observing what has taken place. Because Kai has the power of teleportation he is the one that is in charge of bringing the members together and traveling between time and space, so I think he has shown up from a different time or place and is now trying to figure out what has happened, etc.
In EXO's "Obsession" MV the members in the bright colored clothing with the crazy makeup and hair are supposed to be X-EXO and the ones in the black or dark colored clothing are supposed to be EXO. So, in the parts where they are dressed in all black in "Monster" I think this is showing EXO, and where you see them in the clothing with red accents, this might by showing X-EXO. At the time when "Monster" was first released, we had no idea about X-EXO's existence, but since "Obsession", we have started to go back and reanalyze some of their older MVs, and it appears that what we thought was always EXO, may have been in fact X-EXO some of the time.
As you can see, EXO's story is always evolving and changing, and just when you think you have one part understood, SM introduces a new piece of the story and changes the direction of the narrative.
Also pay attention to when you see red and blue light. In EXO's MVs when you see red light this is where the Red Force has control, and when you see blue light this is where EXO has the upperhand. However, if you see purple light this is when EXO and the Red Force are battling for control -- red and blue mixed together make purple.
Unfortunately, as you can see, what makes EXO's storyline even more difficult to follow is the fact that nothing is ever in chronological order. So you really have to pay close attention to every detail, to even begin to make connections.
EXO's Monster was my first ever kpop song and it's what got me into the genre in the first place. You should definitely check out their solo stuff too
Monster was my second Kpop MV (Boombaya was the first), but it was the one where I decided that Kpop was different and that I needed to pay more attention to it. Five years later, I'm still here.

In EXO's mvs all the visuals, but some of lyrics are related to their concept, as here in Monster, you can interpret the lyrics as you want but in reality it's about their back story

Also, you may not notice it, but EXO incorporate their superpowers in their choreos. For example, that part at that you liked, the one on the left at 2:17 reeling them in then pushing them has the superpower of Force. When they sat on the floor at 14:13 and turned with one hand like they were frozen, the one walking between them has the superpower of Frost. So yeah, EXO are very unique.

Can't wait for more Exo, which unfortunately happens to be older music when captions aren't available, thanks alot SM. But you did have the correct lyrics for Monster, so I don't know if they were on the screen or you pulled them up separately. But Monster was one of their most popular songs that soared to the top that year, and it added to their already incredible success worldwide....it helped solidify their mark in Kpop as legends, and as of today, they are viewed as one of the most popular and beloved kpop groups of all time. And it is all due to their vocals....they are singers...not dancers or rappers..singers, crooners...with their extensive 10 year discography of love songs, ballads, easy listening old school r&b vibes, which showcases their amazing vocals and harmonies. They have never followed the trends of the younger groups of today. They are the best when purely singing. They love nothing more than to sing...and even rappers Chanyeol and Sehun, and elite dancer Kai, sing beautifully. You won't find the amount of talent these 9 members possess in any other kpop group, none can compare. These 9 members have had their own solo albums, acting accolades, modeling careers, all considered side projects, yet all done simultaneously around Exo group music schedules. Their presence throughout the years in all aspects of the entertainment world, media and the public format has made Exo a household name. As individuals and as the group Exo. And even each member's solo music and albums are their own individual style and sounds, but combined make that classic Exo sound. Very talented men. Very humble men. Very iconic... Although they are in rotational mandatory military service at present, they try their best to either do solo music, or put out music with any remaining members who are home. We are starving for any and all Exo content at the moment, so anything you react to is a welcomed change. Thank you for your reaction.đđș
when i saw that we're back to exo i couldn't help to put everything i was doing aside and come watch the reaction, and of course i had to comment too. i'm glad you're reacting to them again since im a big exo-l since 2016 and you're my favorite reaction channel. they have a very intricate lore and i swear i can't even understand everything that is going on until today LOL so i'm always looking forward to see your comments and views even though you don't know anything about the lore at all, because you always catch interesting details that i didn't even see or thought of (even though i probably watched all these mvs a thousand times lmao) and almost, if not all mvs, have some sort of connection to the overall lore. i was basically thriving at the end of the video, just like a little kid, by how much excited i was seeing you catch all the twists of the video, so sorry for the long ass comment LOL. and of course i couldn't leave without recommending more of them, so you definitely need to check out 'overdose' if you liked obsession and monster so much, and i would ABSOLUTELY love to see your thoughts on 'lucky one', which is personally, the best song they've put out there until today, and it actually kind of connects directly to monster, since they were released together. much love đ

EXO really make bangers, and if you want amazingly complex storylines and storytelling in the MV's (that don't always have anything to do with the lyrics of the song...), you are in the right place. EXO is the group that started the whole storyline concept linking all MV's and comebacks and pretty much anything to do with the group, in Kpop. Now every group is doing it, but EXO's is still the most detailed, complex, interwoven, mysterious, and just mind-blowing of all. So just keep that in the back of your mind. They are aliens, they each have superpowers. They are fighting their enemy, Red Force (represented in all sorts of ways, but the color red is the most telling...), and they have evil clones, created by this enemy. Sometimes you are seeing the good EXO, sometimes the bad EXO. Sometimes you see them both. Tee hee.

This was my first kpop song and first exo song. Exo is my favorite group ever. They are also aliens so work that out. Like actual aliens from outer space with individual superpowers. That's their backstory. I actually found them seeing the choreographer do this dance online which was unbelievable and then I was like, what the HECK is THIS song in the background? It's blowing my consciousness. And the video KILLED it. Mind blown. They are amazing.
