  • A wife and mother-in-law share their story of losing their 29-year-old loved one to fentanyl poisoning, as well as some criticism of the Abilene Police Department's handling of the case. Illicit fentanyl is a dangerous, life-threatening drug frequently found in other illicit drugs and results in the death of 200 people per day in the US. This is just one of those stories and delivers an urgent warning to avoid all illicit drugs.
Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

You can see this in her eyes and the slow speech pattern. What a sad, sad story, and then Fentanyl. God bless the wife and mother in law.

I’m sorry for your loss. I lost a son 2 months ago to addiction. They believe it was fentanyl but we won’t know till the toxicology report comes back.
I was lucky that in NY, they picked up the drugs when they picked up my son’s body. The detective assigned to my son’s case has been a saint. They’re still working the case.
Addiction is mental illness. He had no control whatsoever. No matter what you did, he was going to use. Sadly, I know this truth from my own experience.

Not one of these stories have been about someone seeking fentanyl. They were seeking opioids or in this case xanax. I'm not saying we dont have a fentanyl crisis, but it's ONLY because we have an opioid crisis. And that's just sad to know that so many people are dependent on pills.

    • @glcmranger421
      @glcmranger421 Před 6 měsíci

And why is it that we think “recreational” drug use is normal behavior? Alcohol kills thousands every year. Drugs kill thousands every year. Cigarettes kill thousands every year. Why are we okay with this. “Everyone” is not doing it, but people say it. Imagine how many people would still be alive today were it not for that one more high! It’s okay, because “everyone” does it. I’ve been on opioids and Fentanyl since 1992 because of my chronic, severe pain in my bones, muscles and nerves. The Gulf War injuries, 7x cancer survivor, 10% survival rate on my first diagnosis of stage four squamous cell carcinoma, massive amounts of radiation treatments and numerous surgeries and more radiation implanted into my tongue and neck. Several times my Fentanyl pain patches dosed too much because of overheating and that’s why I always have Naloxone (Narcan) in my possession and my friends and family know what to do to save me. When my previous VA doctor would “FORGET” to submit my monthly Fentanyl, Hydrocodone, Gabapentin (Neurontin), etc. to the pharmacy, I’d suffer from withdrawals and just want to die from the extreme pain levels. He forgot about 9 months out of 12 months each year. He simply didn’t care. So, I have a fair idea what drug addicts go through in order to chase that “wonderful high” they must have. I’ve never been high in my life and cannot understand why “EVERYONE” does it. I guess I’m just not “NORMAL!” I love the fact that these videos exist, because I don’t want children/teens/young adults to believe that it’s “NORMAL” and that it’s okay, because “EVERYONE” is doing it. Sure, I get some hate for comments I make, because I’m a pragmatic person and people who lack common sense, sound judgement and good morales call me “JUDGMENTAL.” I certainly don’t pass judgement on others, but at times people get their feelings hurt and I simply can’t and don’t control anyone’s feelings. I control only my own feelings.I sincerely appreciate your videos and I’m convinced that lives have been changed/saved as a result of the videos. I wish that the changes brought about were multiplied exponentially. Thanks for listening.

You probably know this already, but there has been a lot of fentanyl-laced Xanax and fake Xanax that is really fentanyl, on the streets. I’m in long term recovery and in the recovery field. Often, dealers don’t even know what’s in the bars, because they’re made overseas. Do you know where you can get Narcan, to keep around? I’m glad you found this channel and hope you have lots of support. Prayers for you and your husband. It’s nobody’s fault! Addiction does not discriminate.

I have probably watched every single one of these stories and although each one touched me greatly, this one impacted me so much more. Each one of these lost lives you wonder what they could have accomplished, contributed to their families and the world. But this one, I honestly believe that the sky was the limit and I can only imagine how many lives he could have positively touched. A good rule of thumb as to someone’s character is how their in-laws speak about them (of course I’m excluding the off their rocker ones). May this family find some form of peace. May the children see all their dreams come true. And may they know in their hearts that he didn’t mean to leave them. I’m so very sorry for your loss. 🥺🥺🙏🏽🙏🏽

They are not health care professionals of addiction exerts.
Opioids are not the only thing US has problems with. Police can't fix tem all.
And the facts is that dealing with unlawful drugs is a dangerous. How many cops has had their lives taken fighting the problem. They're putting their own life on the line in their work. Are you?
Blaming the police is absurd. They can't fix the problem.

inner strength - that is the only thing that keeps a person from taking - whatever they're addicted to - again... some people find something they love more than drugs, like their kids.. that's where they get their inner strength.
it's the same with smoking cigarettes.. once you quit, you can never touch one again.
get past the detox part, the physical addiction part, and the rest is up to the addict.

To his wife, you’re incredible and don’t ever doubt that. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other no matter what and keep doing the next right thing even when you don’t want to. I’m so sorry for your loss and the pain you’re dealing with. Be the best you can always for those babies. They need you. Remember to always give yourself grace❤❤

I’m so grateful for this project. Too often, shows about addiction put the living at the forefront and all the loss and death is only alluded to, if anything. This is done with good intentions, to try to help those who can still be helped, but we are a death-avoidant society. Actual deaths SHOULD be avoided…what I mean is we are uncomfortable with the topic of death. Getting to know the people who are casualties of this epidemic and their families makes a much bigger impression.

First off all im so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you all. God bless you in your grief that He will give His peace. I had no support in my addiction. I was shunned, rejected, no one came too help me. I had to put myslef in detox and to this day i get no congrats on 7 years of sobriety. Your right we need to show them.love and caring. That im.passionate about now because my family just do not care to this day. I pray everyone struggling with addiction has someone to care enough for them to let them know they are loved and cared about so they have a reason to try and get sober. I know it was opiods but if hebwas taking those pills from the same dealer all that time it most likely was what henwas getting the whole time. Thats why he was nodding out. He was getting fentynal the whole time. Its sad and heartbreaking that that happened but your talking about a world of selfish people who do not care 1 iotta for you or your loved ones. Jesus helped me. Jesus saved me. Jesus is the one who can help anyone who cries out to Him this day! 🙏
