  • Well the push is on before inland closer 10/15/2020. Here on a small stream there is some amazing brookie action. A 16+ a cpl 15s, and some 14s. Some multiple fish hole action as well. There are super colors this time of year on brook trout. This stream was clear and low, but the brookies did not seem to care much. Happy fishing!

      @@WisconsinTroutFishing, you bet. Your skill at casting, accurately hitting small targets from a distance, as well as prompting strikes in tight quarters, is really impressive. Sure enjoy watching what you do, and all the neat places that you go to. My adventuring days are pretty much behind me, but it sure is fun watching you go to places that I have dreamed about for years (and to do really well at them to boot!) I get up to Marshfield every now and then. Maybe I'll run into you someday. Of course, you're always welcome to swing by Wautoma and I'll show you around. We've got some pretty nice water, as that sort of thing goes. Love to see what you could do on them. Take care!

      Hi James, I use a Sony AS300 Action Cam. It has optical image stabilization. I shoot in 1080 60p HD. It can go near 4K but the download and upload gets real slow. Most folks find the HD good enough. Batteries are cheap and last 1 to1.5 hours depending on the temp. I use a 128gb card, good for 11hrs of HD. I carry batteries on the stream. Also, just style, but I hate chest views. I wear the cam on my hat brim. Much better angle IMHO and it is out of the way. I hate seeing videos of someone's reel and hands. Lol. Happy fishing.

    I hope you were careful and did not step on any brook trout spawning redds in the stream where you caught multiple brook trout. Also, do you have a split ring between the treble hook and the wire on the spinner?

    Ron, Amazing outing! Incredible habitat. Quick question, don’t see you get your line fouled on your spinners much. Mine do much more frequently than I would like! I make mine own. What can I do to decrease this happening? If you make the space between the blade and the eye of the spinner very small, does that make a difference? Any tips on this regarding lure making or casting? Really enjoy your videos and appreciate your expertise. Thanks in advance. Happy fishing!

    • @WisconsinTroutFishing
      @WisconsinTroutFishing  Před 2 lety

      Hi Bill, This does happen occasionally, in the videos u see the miracle of editing. Even with movie magic, it is infrequent. It is 100% related to casting technique. I have some tips. 1.Use a duo snap to attach lures - the small space created tangles less than direct line attachment. 2. Use your reel hand to control distance, not the auto bail retrieve. The the auto bail will often loop the line on the lure from it's sudden action. If you hand brake just before the lure hits the water, it will extend the lure straight and not foul up. If you cast and and let it enter and sink, there is a 50/50 chance the lure will tangle while free falling in the stream current. 3. Overhand looping casts tangle most, learn underhanded casts. Happy fishing!

    I’m sure you get asked this all the time but do you think you catch more fishing casting up or down stream?

    • @WisconsinTroutFishing
      @WisconsinTroutFishing  Před 3 lety +3

      I almost never fish downstream and unless land locked or it's the only cast available, I wouldn't recommend it for spin fishing. Fish upstream if you want to even remotely have success. Going downstream will kick up sediment and ruin every hole you may want to fish. Also trout will see you far easier as they usually face upstream when suspended in water or holding in hole. Good luck. Happy fishing.

    • @WisconsinTroutFishing

    I notice you use a clip without a swivel to attach your spinners. Is there a swivel I haven't seen further up the line? What kind of line do you typically use?

    • @WisconsinTroutFishing
      @WisconsinTroutFishing  Před rokem +1

      I don't use and would never recommend a swivel for a spin fishing. The swivel will actually inhibit the motion of the spinner. I only use 10 lb Power Pro braid. It's the best. I've used many of them, hands down powerpro is the best. If you use a swivel to prevent line twist on monofilament line, do yourself a favor and ditch the mono, u won't regret it. Happy fishing!

      Winter is sparse, but there are plenty of other trout and some minnows to eat. Trout over 4-5" are mainly fish eaters. Bugs when they are hatching are eaten as well, but even a small trout won't live of bugs alone. Happy fishing!
