The best thing about the classic RE environments is that they all feel lived in. Every single room tells a story, and you can genuinely imagine all the citizens of raccoon going about their day in these areas. They either feel cozy, or dangerous, but you can always piece together what went down there. It’s so cool.
Also I don’t know if you’ve talk about it but I really hope you do a live stream of the Tomb Raider remasters when they come out! I’m so excited and I know you’re a TR fan too!

@@samuelp.coletrain4775 well there is the in-universe explanation that the RPD was originally a museum repurposed into a police precinct, and the jail is near the garage which is probably where the cop cars would enter the building with the incarcerated peeps for jailing, but I get what you mean. 😹😹 defs the museum thing in the lore was a means to explain that away

Not sure why but I’ve always really liked the outdoor balcony room in the original Resident Evil 1 where you find Forest. The music is so eerie and you can hear the wind blowing, and for some reason the perspective makes it look like you’re a lot higher than you really are because it looks like you’re overlooking raccoon forest.

While not a room, one of my favourite locations in all RE titles is the huge Billboard at the beginning of RE2 past the Basketball Court. Just that little segment between stairs is just filled with not just personality, but with 90's charm that I can't help but love.

My favourite room is the RPD lobby for sure.
It was one of the first times as a kid that I felt an atmosphere like that.
It wasn't trying to scare you, in fact it tried to make it feel safe with the music and lack of enemies. But it felt like you entered an actual building where chaos was right outside but for now... You are safe.
A respite that still feels slightly unnerving.
It's like when you're in a cabin during a thunderstorm. Just that tiny piece of shelter from the chaos outside is enough to feel cozy

Now THAT is a great topic to make more videos about. Analyzing rooms of classic RE games is the way to go!
My favourite room in the entire franchise is... a small industial pre-sewer hallway from RE2 where you push Ada up the ventilation hole, I guess. This small L-shaped room has no enemies and no puzzles, yet it perfectly encapsulates this eerie and comforting feeling of... well... RE2. As if you're not supposed to be here, but you are. As if it's not truly safe here... but it is. A dark gaping opening (not even a door...) into the sewer with spiders, yet for some reason they dare not follow you here. A dusty saveroom closet of a fearful forewarning. A dead end with 4 empty sockets for those very plugs you've been collecting for a while now. A growing feeling of concern it might become a place of no return... Yet, you go back, all the way back to the police station. Knowing that at some point you're bound to return here once more and leave behind everything you've grown accusomed to so far. In this very room you're at the crossroads. Wandering. Lost... It's a liminall space at it's finest, long before liminality became a big horror trend.

Love all the outdoor sections in the original game with the wind blowing and dogs howling in the distance. Ugh such nostalgia. I love the raccoon police station building as a whole. Love the fact that it's a converted art museum. Chief Irons taxidermy room is so creepy. And of course any room with the save theme playing makes you want to linger and explore. Ya, the tram is one of my favorites as well. Any yes, it's probably because the track is dope! I shouldn't even say probably. I love that song!! That, whole transition from the RPD to the lab is amazing. It's one of my favorite moments in the franchise. It's almost motivating. I also like the library, and pretty much the whole lab basement. Particularly where you get the magnum parts. I love the auto door and then just capping some helpless zombies with your new totally op weapon!
I like the bee/lure room. It's just a cool room as is, then add the suspicion of the tampered documents to add a little mystery. I really like the crow room with the painting puzzle. Especially when you solve and the music hits! You just accomplished something towards progressing, but the music just makes you feel so uneasy at the same time. That is another dope RE track! I also like the room, in the remake I'm pretty sure it's the Spencer key room. In the original it's the first one you can open after you get the last key from plant 42.
I'm not super familiar with 3 the original version. I did finally obtain it a few years ago but only played it once. Did play it a couple times 20 years ago, but never since then. Probably the clock, but I'm actually having trouble visualizing it. The only thing I can really picture is the mayor statue for some reason. Should probably play it again I suppose.
Idk if this is off topic, because its not necessarily a specific room, but I always love accidentally discovering a room where you can shoot the camera. I can't remember them all, but one I recently discovered is the hall in RE1 where the dogs jump through the window. I think the heart key shutter window hall is another one I recently discovered, but I might be misremembering that one. pretty sure the cave is another. Idk, guessing some geek has em all logged somewhere, but then I lose my sense of adventure when I come across another one after all these years!
How about a room I hate! Maybe an areal. I remember being an idiot kid getting stuck at the sewer and just running around hopelessly lost not knowing what to do. Especially the spot where you boost Ada. I still cringe when I enter there. We didn't have the internet back then kids! Well at least I didn't. What little access I had was spent on watching WWF!

I think videos going into great detail or trying to for individual rooms and what lore may be present would be really cool. While I personally would enjoy it for EVERY room, it probably wouldn't be feasible or reasonable for a content creator to do that so maybe rooms that have a significant amount of things going on in them, idk, great video BTW, can't wait for more ^_^

In higher class cafes and restaurants, we have the little tray here in Australia, basically it's comes out with a summary of your order, then you leave your cash or credit card on it with the summary, the waiter will take it back and process the transaction, and come back with your receipt, change if you paid cash, and dark mint chocolates in the tray. It's exceptionally common in Chinese restaurants

It's not technically a room (or at all, lol) but the villiage portion of RE4 has some of the most incredible vibes in any video game I've played. It has such a unique environment that reminds me somewhat of a more rural silent hill, with all of the valleys and farms, it's awesome. I especially love the first farm where you find the blue medallions for the first time, and the canyon with the huge sky lift (which I wish we spent more time at!). I wish the village portion of RE4 was like twice as long, as much as I love it, I think it could have been way more dense.

I loved this video. My favorite room from Re2 is also the waiting room. I'm not sure why, but I've always loved it since the first Re2 Demo. One room I would add is from the REmake. I've always loved the fireplace room on the second floor where you burn the map. I always hang out in that room for a couple minutes because it seems so cozy with the fire lit. Plus, it's just really nice and has a lot of herbs. haha.

loved this! I'll do 1 fave location from each game and why. RE1 Remake the forest/Courtyard area, the crickets chirping and the subtle breeze reminds me a summer night with the window open...RE2 the East Wing Corridor just had a straight 90s feel with the tile floor, phone booths, and vending machine, sort of has a mall feel to me... Than RE3 i'd have to say the street outside the RPD, seeing it the first time realizing your about to revisit this place where so much trauma occured.

Other than those that have already been mentioned, my favorite room in RE2 is the Library. The music, the atmosphere, the mystery, the complete lack of enemies. It feels like there should be a LOT of lore there, with there being all those books and all. One of my biggest disappointment with the remake was how the library was just another room with zombies and mister X chasing you. If there ever was a time to switch gears from stressful chase to tense puzzling, this should've been it.
In RE3 it would be the time puzzle room with the weighted stones, for similar reasons. Maybe I just like puzzle rooms lol

You're not alone! One of my favorites has always been the watchman's room in the RPD. The domed ceiling and singular lit chandelier had always given me such an 'I'm safe here' feeling, even with the dead officer in the sleeping area!
That and the culture room that requires the thumbprints because A.) as a kid I never got into that room so it still feels new and weird to me and B.) the music for that room absolutely slaps.

I get where you're coming from, bud. I mean... I think. For a long time, I've had something akin to synesthesia for game environments. It's almost tactile in effect, and I can really feel the vibes deeply. There's been many times where I end up somewhere and just don't move at all for five minutes while staring at the screen, taking in the vibe. RE, some spots in Shadow of the Tomb Raider (especially the cenote), Dying Light/Dead Island, the updated Telltale Walking Dead games and many others. I figured that feeling would be exponentially increased with chemical assistance so I started to occasionally incorporate a "fungal" state of mind into it and I was blown away. Especially in horror games. Doubly so in RE: Village and Metro: Exodus. That ish was life-changing.

RE1: Room in the blue hallway that has keeper's diary and the shark room in the remake.
RE2: RPD Lobby / Main Hall, Tram Area & the room above the lava pit that you only visit in the B scenario.
RE3: Clocktower the room at the very top where you use the gear at, the park, the containment room where you fight Nemesis for the second to last time & final Nemesis room.

Re1 has the room across from the Bird Painting Hall where you get the Magnum/MO Disc. And the library type room where you overlook the Heliport and I believe get another MO Disc.
RE2 has the Stars Office. I also like the Train area that is shared with RE0. I also like Brians office and Back Hall. And any area in the RPD or lab without enemies.
RE3 is full of little cozy places and rooms Thru out the city. I honestly cant choose. But if I had too, that burning office you gotta jump out the window of when Nemesis is coming up the stairs. Or the Diner. Or the Opening warehouse room and its Save Room.
    Every Single Save Room.
Also your first pick from Re1, dressing room, you said was relaxing but Im pretty sure it has zombies and A Hunter in it at one point lol.

In the OG RE3 the “Rail Gun” is actually called “The Sword of Paracelsus” which is suppose to be a prototype the US Army had. It was a tag along item for US Delta Force to use as an “Anti G weapon” in there mission to infiltrate the nest and retrieve Birkin and the G Virus… 20:53

Nothing weird about the way you feel man it's the same for me in a lot of games. One always comes to mind, though, and there may be more in this masterpiece, but in re 4 (2005), it has to be the insignia room in the village square. Something about serenity and the typewriter presented on the table with the magical window that doesn't exist outside casting a soft, comforting glow blanketing the peaceful yet sorrowful safe haven is nostalgic to me. Every time I play my favorite game of all time, I pause in this room, feeling a soup of emotions, sadness, and nostalgia for sure.

I like how you talk about the ambiance of these locations. In cinema & photography, the placement of a camera is vitally important as to how a scene is perceived. The use of a camera can strongly add to the atmosphere & ambiance, as well as having a psychological impact on the viewer. A good example of this is when there are camera angles outside of a window looking in as you walk past. This suggests you are being watched, which adds to the dread & unsettling feel.
Todays fans that hate the old games are entitled to have their preference, but to completely dismiss the older games due to the fixed angles is just ignorance. With todays games being all 1st or 3rd person, it runs the risks of things becoming generic & all the same. It requires more use of lazy jump scares to try to be scary, rather than atmospheric & psychological manipulation that fixed cinematic style cameras can provide.
I'm not saying the current games are crap because they are 1st or 3rd person, but there is a quality of atmosphere & tension that the old games had that the new games lack.

Great video, subscribed. I like isolated places that are outdoors so you could observe what happens etc but are still protected by elevation and walls etc. Examples would be the outdoor area/balcony next to Irons office in RE2R and the emergency stairwell area in RE2 (remake ruined the coziness factor by adding a gate + making it feel a bit more closed in within the station). I also like the emergency stairwell in the beginning of RE3 where you have to climb the pallets to reach it, making it more safe.

I remember seeing this room for the first time and thinking “WTF happened here?”. Would be cool to see a cut scene showing it all go down. As for the rail gun being there randomly I can only think that maybe this is just where they were first building it? Not sure. Either way, dope video as always!

Yeah Ink Ribbon I wanna hear more. I agee with every room in re1 but I add a room thats above the safe room that you chose, its the one that has 2 doors in it, one goes to a bedroom and the other in the remake gives you the crest to give the magnum, I also add the bedroom I mentioned before. In 2 I agree with the waiting room and the one you showed with the magnum, but I remove the othee rooms you showed. In 3 I agree with the room with the rail cannon and the park, but I love the warehouse and the alley's leading up to the RPD that you go to after the warehouse.

The RPD waiting roommakes sense because it's such an important room for item box access and to get to everything on the left side of the station.
