Good video! I have two additional things to suggest: 1. If the Bug is not on an epoxy sealed concrete floor, lay down a plastic tarp under the Bug for the Winter. This prevents moisture from rising through the floor underneath. And don't let the car cover skirt drop down to the floor. Put the cover skirt up on the front and rear bumpers. Put small cardboard boxes under the skirt on the sides. Let air flow under the car to prevent moisture buildup (this goes along with the recommendation for a breathable cover) 2. Put mouse traps under the car. I use four traps, one beside each wheel. Live and let live with the little critters sure. But not when they go after my Bug.
About the wipers- I cut a couple of rings (about an inch or so wide) off of a paper towel tube and put them between the arm and windshield. It lifts the blade just off of the glass, but doesn't stretch the spring hardly at all. Also, I'll clean the rubber blades real well and wipe on a little silicone spray (used to use Armor All) on them as a preservative to prevent the ever-looming dry rot. If I think about it, I'll also clean the glass real well and put on a new dose of Rain-X.
Thanks for the tips especially the tip on removing the coil wire before starting an engine that’s been sitting. I have never heard of that. And the battery tender was another thing I have never heard of. Thank y’all so much great video.
I always change oil before storage for winter. Should you change again when you start to use it again in the spring? Great video btw and happy new year to you both.
Hey Slade! Where is the first annual meet up? Just general location please! We live in NY near Rochester and would love to bring our 72 super on its first road trip to meet you guys!
@@SladesVWBeetle thanks man! I hope to have it finished by then! Right now I’m building a shop addition, my lift goes in 1/22!!! Then I can get back to car work instead of construction!
Drained all my fuel to install new carb and fuel pump. It’s at a storage unit I didn’t want to risk anything. Anything specific I need to do to get it all flowing and running again?
This was such a fun video to do!!!!! Thanks for having me in it ❤
Ethanol free gas is also a good option imo. It's all I run in my VW's and mowers, snowblower etc. Never an issue. Good job Heather and Slade.

Will be cool to see your live feed from the garage.

Happy new year ! Sitting cars are unhappy once you start driving them again. Parts tend to fail after sitting for a long time, especially seals!

Very great video and concept I needed a few these tips before I parked my cars it really saves from replacing parts from corrosion and decay
Great advice ! Also peppermint oil is the best repellant for rodents after taking out the food crumbs.
I don't have a garage to put Lucy in and I drive her when I can so this will be very helpful were I'm not driving her for a couple of weeks in winter
You dont want to use the 360 for storing its for everyday driving ! Use the Storage Stabilizer.
Great advice Tthaks Mike
I like to use Sea Foam for years works good also.

A lot of people do change their oil in the spring again. I think that’s all just opinion. I checked mine to see what it looks like on the dipstick.

That will be near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I’m still debating on what place to have it at. But that’s the general area.
