  • Well, try to act a little surprised because today, Transition has finally jumped on the electric bandwagon with the release of their all-new Repeater e-bike. Developed to take you where your mountain bike can’t, the Repeater features 160mm of travel, 29-inch wheels, and Shimano’s trusted EP8 motor. With balanced geometry that doesn’t tip the scales too far in any direction, the Repeater is a ride-everything machine that may win over some stubborn e-haters. #eMTB #ebike #electricbike

    Maybe don't send the guy who hates e-bikes to try to sell your e-bike. Guy was more worried about loosing his cred with his crew as if he were in high school or something instead of selling a bike that his company worked hard on.

      I agree, been riding e for 4 years now, finally the crew I ride with are now all buying them too. It does get cute the old school haven't moved on in their heads while the rest of us are getting way more trail time in, the break for lunch isn't finish time boys, we only half way through the day!

    Can't help but feel this is a very diplomatic review, the trend is heading toward slacker, more travel, bigger battery, more ride time. The extra battery doesn't have to mean more weight either. Could this bike have been on the drawing board a few years ago and only now released ? I'm sure it rides really well but so do a lot of others that run Bosch motors that don't have the Shimano rattle. Welcome to the party Transition .

      Which I don't get at all. My first ebike, I thought I needed the biggest battery possible as that's all you hear! I thought for sure I would be going on these huge 4 - 5 hr 50 mile rides! Realized after a week spending the extra cash for the 700wt battery for the Levo was a complete waste. As I also realized, my riding style and what I like didn't change, dh riding, just meant I could do 5 times the laps, but didn't need a huge freaking battery and all that weight. I hate this direction, quickly sold that thing and got myself an Orbea Rise! Thing absolutely shreds and the best thing, rides like a normal bike! It only comes with a 360wt battery but is perfect, I can easily crank out 18 mile / 3000ft rides with just over 20% battery left. Perfect shred session. I live in So Cal so I'm not having to climb 2000ft just to get to the trail head, nor do I need a huge bike for my local trails. Where 90% of my riding takes place, 2 1/2 - 3 hr rides and I'm done. For bigger days or park, I got my enduro rig for. I think all these companies are completely missing the mark, pushing bigger, burlier, super large batteries down people's throats when probably majority of people really don't need it! Just my 2 cents, give me more options of ebikes with 160/150, 400wt internal battery withe external option, 64.5 hta with geo change if you want slacker, 43lbs, perfection! This release here is boring AF, it's like...well..I guess we should release an ebike to stay relevant and make money but do absolutely nothing at all to advance things. 🥱

    Hopefully by the time I’m ready for an e-bike there will be a standard socket which all e-bikes will use so you can switch out the motor as newer / better stuff becomes avail. This bike looks great, but $8K-$11K, IMO, is a ridiculous amount of money for something that may be outdated motor wise the minute you buy it. The bike was built around the motor (watch the video). Perhaps newer Shimano motor down the line, but would rather have the option to go with someone else if need be.

    I've owned a Canyon Spectral 7 on, and I just bought the brand new 2022 Heckler after selling the canyon. One thing I will say about the repeater build sheet is i am disappointed in the battery because I feel like it should be in the 720 range to be competitive. They did get it right on the hubs. Some E-mount bike makers are skimping out on the rear hubs in their base models which in most cases are 8100+. For example Canyon uses a non sealed bearing 510 Shimano hub that is total s***. The Santa Cruz Hecker is using a base sram hub. If you're going to charge people $8,100 for an opening bike at least put a decent Hub on the back of the bike. These bikes take a lot of abuse on the trail and the rear wheel needs to be solid. The repeater is very beautiful and it really doesn't look like an e-bike. But they need to come through with a bigger battery.

    • @sgtkurry
      @sgtkurry Před 2 lety

      I too also have the 22 Heckler and coming from a 21 Rise, 21 Rail and 22 Levo the EP8s in general have poor range at the same battery capacity compared to the other 2 main competitors. I think the reason they went with the 630w is they just couldn't get the weight of their frame down. I have a 21 Sentinel as well and for what it is its heavier than my 21 Ripmo V2. I think their frames are just overall a bit more beefy and the Sentinel has a long wheel base, its by far the longest out of all my bikes I believe.

It was really easy to get along with for me and even felt light once moving or in the air. The only thing I did not like was how the motor would top out so quick.
