- Hi everyone,
I've wanted to post the details of how I designed my layout and provide a parts list for several viewers that have requested this.

Thanks for watching.
Have fun and keep racing!

C'est immense et magnifique 😍
I think this is the best post I’ve found to design my track for a huge table I had built for my basement! I can’t begin to thank you enough. It’s been incredibly frustrating to find plans for layouts with a working “parts you’ll need list “ ! I was able to find this software through Carrera and they offer a coupon for 20% off on this software . Thank you !
Hi Mark, Thanks for watching and the comments.
If you have any questions about the track planning software you can reach them at: service@autorennbahnplaner.de
Be safe and have fun!

@@garagemakerguy1808 yes , thanks . Once all my back ordered parts are available , I will be buying the software from them . Your 3D lights and brackets are impressive. You should market the fence and lights . You’re creations are light years ahead of any accessories offered at hobby stores . I have a 128 square ft. table . I want my grandkids to learn and have fun on it . Until they do , the crashes are extensive sometimes . Thanks for you channel.
Looks great! I keep this video in mind when I start my slot track some day. Thanks for sharing. Randy
"RDNT", thank you for the comment :)
I will keep your videos in mind when I build another train layout. Haven't decided on scale yet. I'd like to have the train and slot car track co-exist but 1/24 scale trains are huge and very expensive (closest I think is "G" scale).

Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
I see the advantage of using the software I do. But I would submit that we are just putting our track together and building it using noting more than pointing and changing things around…low tech to be sure. But it has allowed us make those changes that we see as we see them. We will have about 140-160feet of track and we will use 3-4 power taps. We have the bigger 18+ volt transformer as we like the 1/24 cars.
Love your bank turn fencing. Nice. Will look thru your vids to see if I can find a video that shows how you made it!
Nice video .... helps a lot

great video, keep it up, like my Friend!👍👍👍👍🤝🤘
Thanks for the comment "Eugene". I'll be posting more content in the next day or so.

what is the required table surface? example 6x14'? this is by far the most helpful site I have found I am not into computers so simple guidance is excellent
Hi Randy, Thanks for watching and the comment/question.
The table is 16' x 8' with extensions to support the parts of the layout that extend past the table.
Cheers,
Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
would you design me a 6'x14' my space is limited as a matter of fact , I'm trying to mentally design a table top that can be flipped over like a auto restoration rotisserie any ideas? thanks is there a way we could speak?
@@randynewton8478 Hi Randy, I am flattered that you would like me to design a track for your 6' x 14' space. However your layout should be your own design but I can throw a couple of layouts together and share them with you.
Send me an email (The_Def_J@yahoo.com) with some info:
1.) 1/32 or 1/24 scale (or both)
2.) How much and what kind of track do you have? I need an inventory of what track pieces you have already.
3.) What kind of racing do you want to do? Technical with lots of turns, fast with lots of straightaways and banked turns, or a combination of both.
4.) Do you plan on doing scenery?
5.) Is this for adults, kids, or both?
6.) What is your budget?
Re: "a table top that can be flipped over"
Although this sounds like a cool idea, it would require everything to be fastened to the table and would most likely be problematic over time. That is just my opinion.
Cheers,
Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
@@garagemakerguy1808 could you do the same for me? I’m really struggling with all the pieces.

What's a "Check Lane? Thanks
I find Ultimate Racer 3 has the easiest track editing software. I prefer just drag and drop.
Thanks for the comment "Sunday Slot Cars", I'll check out "Ultimate Racer 3" for the next layout.

Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
What are the dimensions? Thank you
Hello "symbian1530",
The track layout is 5.3 x 2.9 meters (a little over 17.25 feet at the widest spot and 9.5 feet at the deepest).
The table is 8' x 16' with extensions installed where needed.
Let me know if you have any more questions and thanks for watching :)

Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
Is this 143 scale?
Hello Gene, Thanks for watching and the comment/question.
My layout is done with Carrera's 132 /124 track. It is a mix of the old "Exclusiv" and the new "Digital" track pieces. When I started with the Carrera track (about 20 years ago) I only ran the 132 scale cars but now I really enjoy the 124 scale cars. I still run both (one of the nice things about the Carrera track). However, it does take up some space but it's not too bad with Digital allowing more than 2 cars on a 2 lane track. Back in the "old days", if you wanted to run 4 cars you had to have a 4 lane track, 8 cars 8 lanes and this made it very expensive and took up a massive amount of space.
Anyway, I hope I answered your question.
Cheers,
Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
What is your table size
Hi Joseph, Thanks for watching and the comment/question.
The table is 16' x 8' with extensions to support the parts of the layout that extend past the table.
