  • The Danby DDR050BJWDB (non-pump version) on Amazon - geni.us/budB
    The top rated Frigidaire FFAD5033W1 on Amazon - geni.us/IxyAv4K
    In this video we review the Danby DDR050BJWDB (non-pump version) and DDR050BJPWDB (built-in pump version). Note that much of this review also applies to the 30 pint DDR030BJWDB and 20 pint DDR020BJWDB as all of these units have much of the same features and functionality.

    How do you keep it from hearing up the house?

    My drain pump ( not gravity hose, the thin hose with the pump) randomly stopped working. Anyway to fix this??

    You mentioned there are better models. What are they? I heard that humidity makes you feel hot. Is this true?

    I want to put this in a summer house and have it work all winter to remove moisture when we are not there. If the power fails will the unit come back on automatically INCLUDING THE PUMP FUNCTION so it can work unattended?

    • @consumer-analysis
      @consumer-analysis  Před 4 lety

      The unit does restart automatically after power failure. I did not test whether the pump function also restarts after power failure.

    Is it normal that my Danby dehumidifier 50 pint DDR050BJPWDB-ME randomly stops for a minute or two at 44% (I set it at 40%) and then resumes? I also noticed even though I set it at 40%, it goes down to 39%, doesn't shut off though, but continues within a minute after it said 39% it goes back up to 43%? It's so strange and I'm not sure if I have a faulty one. It was a great deal at Costco so I went for it but this is my first dehumidifier so not entirely sure what's normal vs not.

      I got mine from Costco too...i set my humidity to 45%. Mine stops at 46% then within a minute, the humidity goes up to 50% and it kicks in. It's been doing that for a week, and the stop/start cycle is exactly at one minute. I have a hygrometer sitting on the unit showing the reading stops at 45%. But the humidity reading on the unit would go up to 50% as soon as the unit stops,which then the unit kicks on again and right away the humidity goes down to 47% then hangs on 46% for a very long time.
      I saw a guy returning two of this machines, maybe its a design issue.

    What about a noise levels of this unit. Wow it is different compared to Frigidaire models?

    • @consumer-analysis
      @consumer-analysis  Před 4 lety +1

      The Danby was one of the quieter 50 pint units we tested (only the hOmeLabs was quieter). Do note though that it exhausts through the side so it doesn't mask compressor noise as well as top exhaust units like the Frigidaire.

    • @g1rag
      @g1rag Před 4 lety

      I just returned my Frigidaire to Costco. Same price. Frigidaire died in 18 mos. Costco reviewers thought this Danby was noisy. But it is Not louder to the Frigidaire. I think its about the same, maybe even a little quieter.

    It pulls water, but the humidity still shows high. Can’t find what’s wrong.

    THE DRAWER IS DIFFICULT TO GET IN AND OUT.

  • @bettydaltonnewbold2019

    As with most things these days, the instructions suck. It comes with a "thin hose" and a "fat hose". According to his video I now know where to attach the fat hose. But, what is the thin hose for and where do we attach it? The manual does not identify either of these hoses. Thanks very much.

    • @bettydaltonnewbold2019
      @bettydaltonnewbold2019 Před 3 lety

      I found the answer on another CZcams video: czcams.com/video/QrPsOwD_Ilc/video.html . The thin one is for running the "pump" feature. The fat one is for the "direct drain" feature. Thank you.

    I have one in 2020 and used one summer in 2021, and it is broken now (May, 2022). I purchased it from Costco. Does not matter what functions it has, the reliability is a big problem. Not recommend it!

    My arrow buttons don’t do squat except in “timer mode”. ie I cannot change the humidity setting. WTF?!?
    Doh! When you put the fan on high and set the “recirculation“ on, of course the numbers won’t change because you just set it to run constantly no matter what the humidity is. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Not a fan of Danby. I have one, bought from Costco. I’m used to old dehumidifiers. Last one I had was about 20 years old that all you had to do was plug it in. It ran like clockwork up until the time the $4 internal fan quit. It was ugly, out of style, heavy but worked as expected for 29 years. No so with Danby.
    Pros:
    stylish
    50qt
    Lots of features
    Cons:
    All features pull money from reliability
    Just under the 2 years mark before quit
    Have pump model, never used
    Hose connection is European size, won’t fit US garden hose- stupid
    Will let you know how warranty works.

  • @ckeilah
    @ckeilah Před 4 lety +1

    Also, it’s advertised as a 50 pint dehumidifier. How the hell can they say that if it only has a 12 pint bucket?!? 😡
    Oh! “50 pints per day“

    • @jayteshima
      @jayteshima Před 3 lety

      When they said "50 pint capacity ", they talking about the capabilities to drain 50 pints of water in period of 24 hour, not the siz3of the bucket ... lol

    • @ckeilah
      @ckeilah Před 3 lety

      Jay Teshima Be prepared to change the bucket a whole lot, or pay the extra for the pump.
