"We'd make one hell of a team, Snake!"
    "The name's Plissken!"
Fun Fact: The opening narration, and the computer's voice in the first prison scene, were provided by an uncredited Jamie Lee Curtis.
Location Location Fact: The night street scenes were filmed in East St. Louis, Illinois, across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Missouri. East St. Louis is filled with old, run-down buildings, and entire neighborhoods burned out during a massive fire in 1976.
Practical Over CGI Fact: The wire-frame computer graphics on the display screens in the glider were not computer-generated. Computers capable of 3-D wire-frame imaging were too expensive at the time. Special effects designers built a model of the city, painted it black, attached bright white tape to the model buildings in an orderly grid, and moved a camera through the model city.

    1. Snake is in trouble throughout the entire movie.
    2. A British President?
    3. Manhattan is very expensive real estate for a prison.
    4. The girl in the Chock Full O'Nuts is Season Hubley. She was Russell's squeeze at the time. Before Goldie.
    5. Everyone who says, "I heard/thought you were dead" dies.
    6. The eye patch is Russell's idea.😎
    7. I loved, loved, loved Harry Dean Stanton😇
    8. Favorite character: Rheme.
    9. This was filmed entirely at night in an area of St Louis before it was refurbished.
    10. The only reason to watch "Escape from LA" is to say you have. Besides doing this for a living.

The "United States Police Force" and New York as a prison makes way more sense if you were older, and remembered how bad NYC used to be in the '70's. And buddies...it was bad. The city corporation was broke, and they had to scale back law enforcement.
The crime rate was so legitimately bad, there were talks of bringing in federal/national guard troops in some areas, because of the gangs, and lack of law enforcement. Murder, rappings & armed robbery rates tripled in less than 10 years. Basically, Fort Apache (Bronx) kind of pointed out how bad it was. "The Warriors" is a version, as is "Death Wish". And "Assault on Precinct 13". The mafias (italian & russian) ran giant portions of NYC, and other groups ran their own burrows. Lots of days and nights they spent wiping each other out.
It was to the point that cops would refuse to go into some areas except in extreme circumstances, and heavily armed (Chicago and parts of LA at the time were the same). And mind you, those were the old school cops that didn't mess around (WW2 & Korea vets).
Be glad you youngsters missed all that.
I just remember it from the news and talking to old-timers.
The era of cocaine cowboys, Son of Sam and absolute all-out crime.

It’s funny how the entire news media seems to forget that as well. Fear-mongering is alive and well.

@@BluntReactionsBBsure, crime being up very noticeably shouldn’t be news because it was much worse one time. Ok sport.

Yeah. The rapping is really getting out of hand. I miss the days when rap made sense.

@@eatsmylifeYT Let's try to remember why I say "the rappings" back then were hardcore. Because CZcams likes me saying "Rappings" way better with that hard R at the front, than the actual word.

INCORRECT. I watch them all the time. If I wanted to go watch a commercial product, I would. Instead I watch these guys, who are not mixed vegetables in the freezer aisle with ads plastered all over them.
