- Filmed in partnership with Coradine Aviation - LogTen Pro, who made this production possible. I live on the road as an airline pilot and I've learned a lot of tips to make life a little easier when living out of a carry-on bag. Here are my Top 10 Pilot Life Hacks that you should know! Do you have a life hack I don't know about? Tell me in the comments below! (Cockpit scenes filmed under Part 91 with approval of Envoy Air, Inc.)
When I was building flight time towards my ATP certificate, I used an electronic logbook called LogTen Pro. Tracking my progress towards meeting the numerous ATP requirements was incredibly easy with the software, and it synced to my iPhone, iPad, and Mac. I'm still using it today to log all of my flights as an airline pilot. I partnered with Coradine Aviation so that you can try it out yourself.

This is an electronic logbook I've used since I was a brand new student pilot. I love the product and have always recommended it to pilots I work with. Just so you know, if you sign up and purchase a subscription through Coradine Aviation, I'll get a small commission. That helps me make more videos and I'm grateful for your support! Plus, you can get a discount of 12% for iOS or 23% for the iOS/Mac bundle. If you're already an existing subscriber, contact the Coradine Aviation support team who will check and make sure that you're getting the best rate possible.

What's your favorite life hack/travel tip?
A personal one is always be prepared to spend a night somewhere, I once got delayed in Atlanta, and spent 18 hours there before driving 9 hours to Miami.
Always use your shoes for storage. Either put your socks in them or something. Also put your shoes in some type of bag. Did they take up a lot of space and you can store quite a bit inside of them
Kyler Mcnabb yes, when I travel a lot of utilities in there so I can put more clothes in a suitcase
Besides that I love traveling🙂
i always pack electronics and sandals at the top of my bag to make security a breeze, and while it isn’t a hack i don’t ever buy duty free stuff because 99% of the time it ultimately costs just as much if not more than buying it when i get home.
A pilot using a checklist? That's a new one.
I know I know... Cheesy but seriously it helps!
😂
Hahahaha
Sarcasm at its finest 😂🙏
Apollo Tsakiris I’m a flight attendant with another airline. I do the same thing using a packing list.
i’m sitting here thinking “damn this guys got great fashion sense” but then you said boyfriend and it all made sense😂 great vid man!
HA! Not sure if that's what does it, but one thing's for sure... I get a LOT of tips from Sam!
Literally came here to write the same thing 😂. Nice one swayne
Haha same place I find my fashion sense 😏
Swayne Martin you’re sweet ☺️
I guarantee you guys thought poorly of gays until you found out Swayne was gay. You must follow your leader in your minds, whatever Swayne loves or hates, you love and hate as well.
“We don’t live normal lives.” We live amazing lives!😅 Love the Vid Swayne!
Amazing - But also something totally atypical!
TheContentExchange Mokulele isn’t paying near as much as he is making right now, quit hating and do something with your life.
@@TheContentExchange Low pay? Do you know how much pilots make?
As a fellow pilot and filmmaker I’ve got to say, YOU KILLED IT on the lighting/background setup. Great advice and great quality videos!
Sam did a great job making this studio!
@@SwayneMartinPilot Nanti,Bawa,sama,Mh,Sepatu,Mh,Mau,beli,da.Mahal??Bukan...
@@asniyani3290 Huh? I know what it means, but I don't understand what you're trying to say...
WHEN I GROW UP I WANT TO BE PILOT
Lol you're ridiculous Sam
LoL
I thought I recognized the background somewhere.
You can't do both of those things.... You gotta pick one..
YEAH HES A PILOT GRAPE
My favorite travel tip... Packing cubes. I have had my travel transformed thanks to packing cubes. I can leave them in my bag like you do and pull out the one I need or unpack into drawers but just unzip and open the cube in the drawer. As my trips move along, I have clean and dirty cubes and the dirty ones stay packed. Mind you that I used to travel for a few weeks at a time with multiple destinations.
I love what you put in the extras part of the packing checklist, so wholesome.
If you're constantly staying in hotel rooms, take a picture of your door number when you get to your room. That way you have the number easily accessible and don't have to do something unsafe like writing it on the key/paper key sleeve. Same tip works for coat&bag checks, take a picture of the tag in case it falls out of your pocket.
I also do this with rental car license plates and parking lot signs to know where I parked in large parking lots.
I travel on a ton of business trips with my husband and not only has taking a photo of the room number saved our bacon a few times but also getting one extra room key. That room key goes in my pocket when I am IN the hotel. I have a bad habit of forgetting the key in the room when doing laundry or going down for breakfast. The key in my pocket has saved me a few times.
This is great Swayne! I’ve been looking forward to a video like this!

I've watched your videos a long time. You never cease to amaze me. I wish I had half of your drive and organization when I was your age. Now it's time to find a packing checklist...Thanks,

Great job on your vids Swayne. I’m an Envoy team member as well and dig you represent us well. Take care bro.
Great video as usual 👍
Long time subscriber. Love your stuff man. Living the CFI life now at about 400 hours. Can’t wait to hit the airlines when things get back to normal in a few years. Great content as always man.
Hey Bill,
Checking your comment 2 years after you posted it. Did you manage to hit them yet ?
Good luck ;)
The production of your videos is always top notch. Honestly best I've seen.
Swayne's Video production quality is perfect
Can’t wait to watch this Swayne, gonna start my PPL soon, you’re an inspiration for me and my CZcams channel, I was at 100 subs last time I commented on one of your vids now nearly at 2k! Thanks
Wow that's awesome!
Great video! I’m almost wrapped up with my commercial program and will be time building. Some of this would help with just being a CFI and II. It’d be great to also pass down to students as well, especially the personalized checklist!
Swayne just had to throw a five minute break in my morning, can’t not watch one of these videos! Hopefully I’ll still remember these in a few years when I need them 😂
The production quality of these videos is great, keep it up!
These videos motivate me even more to become a pilot . Keep It Up !
Love your videos
These are some pretty useful and reasonable travel tips. Thanks for another great video!
The hanger on the curtains is pure genius! Simple and effective!
Great video thanks for the tips keep up to he good work!
awesome channel and video. I had to share it with my son. He is working on becoming a commercial pilot and has one more year of college to finish his degree. I am excited for him to see so many opportunities available out there. He gets discouraged sometimes because this career plan gets quite expensive. I keep telling him that he will soon enjoy all the hard work he has put into becoming a pilot.
You Swayne are Amazing !!!
Thanks Julie!
Great Vid again keep it up
Thanks for the tips these are actually really helpful. :)
I start at a regional in a few months. Your videos have been awesome as I prepare for the career shift! Keep up the good work!!
Hey Swayne, been a Subscriber for about a year and I find all of your videos very helpful for us aspiring pilots(btw starting training in 2 weeks at ATP). Keep up the great work and we'll be expecting your next video. Thanks!
I love to fly in my all birds, super comfy and you don't even need socks! On a side note you look so much more grown up now compared to when you started flying for mokulele and even in your PPL videos. Lastly, Sam's studio lighting is on point.
Nice job!! Hope we get to see more flying soon. Be safe.
Another good inspirational vid for all pilots/those training to become a pilot. Great hacks!
Very good suggestions. I travel alot and you gave me a few good new tips.
Hello Swayne - thxs for the "drapery - coat hanger"! Why didn't I think of this? Stay safe 🌸✈
Thanks for the excellent travel tips (I swear by the “pre-flight” checklist), and the quality and content of your videos in general. Unsurprising to anyone who’s checked out your Instagram, but the shout-out to Sam was a nice bonus feature. Hope you’re holding up well in light of the impact that COVID-19 has had on the airline industry. Hang in there.
here's a pro tip for everyone: quit slamming your goddamned hotel doors. other crewmembers are trying to sleep!
THANK YOU 😅
A truer comment has never been made
Thank you!
🤣🤣
Using the in-room coat hanger clips to keep the light out is a stroke of genius. Great tip!
Thanks Swayne
Love this, pls make more
good stuff Swayne. Just finishing up flight school and still deciding whether the airline life is for me or not.
Omg love the travel rack hack!
Love your videos! !!! 💙💙💙💙💙
I came across your channel Swayne when watching some of
Mentour's content. Also I saw the video when you were on with Mentour! Very cool! Mentour's was the first aviation channel I started watching years ago/yours was second and then I came across Captain Joe. All 3 of you I follow. You all provide such a great perspective on the aviation industry. I am not a pilot however the content you provide is very interesting. I used to be afraid to fly and started watching Mentour's channel and now I can't wait to get on a plane. Great job on the channel! Keep on posting videos as I know we all will continue to be loyal viewers!
Brilliant!
great I loved it
Great idea about the checklist
Yes Sir, takecare always.🙏
Thanks sir for sharing such information with us. Your videos give a different vibe and inspire to fulfill my dream to be a Pilot. I appreciate your work!! Thanks again
Thanks for the excellent videos and inspiration! I’ve taken my discovery flight and have my first official PPL lesson next week out of KCRG in Jacksonville.
Hey Swayne! Absolutely love the content and it's been very helpful to me as I'm currently enrolled to start my flight training this coming spring at a flight university (which happens to be the same one you attended!) and I absolutely cant wait to get started on my passion. The information that you provide to help guide students like myself along that path is extremely useful and very inspiring, better than anyone could ask for!
I have a question for you, I recently watched the podcast you did with MentourPilot (aswell as your video about rod and haley), and one point that really struck me and has stuck with me since I watched was your explanation of the interpersonal connections and network that you developed within the industry. That seems to be one of the largest factors that sets you apart from the average pilot climbing the student-regional-mainline ladder. I was wondering if you had any specific advice for networking or how to go about it, as in, what types of activies, events, or just general actions ended up leading you to so many meaningful relationships with people in the industry as well as so many friendships like yours with Rod and Haley?
Thanks for the content :D
Nice vid!!!
Hi Swayne, at 04:12...you forgot to mention your power strip. I always pack an extension cord or power strip whenever I travel because oftentimes the outlets near the nightstand are taken by the lamps so there isn't an available outlet for my mobile phone and/or laptop chargers. For people who sail on cruises, the cabins have limited outlets (only two outlets) so an extension cord is useful for charging your phones, laptops and digital alarm clocks.
I use hack #8 all the time. I’m going to try these other hacks my self. Awesome video Swayne
*ok, I see you with that production quality Swayne!*
amazing Quality!
:O He liked it! Hi Swayne :) i love your vids, they are very inspiring!
Oh my gosh...the iron test is genius. Never thought of that and have been burned by grimy iron on dress shirt a few times. Not a pilot but a traveling businessman. Thanks!
cool hacks, love your videos, to the point!
I expected to see a bunch of hateful comments, but to my surprise, its all positive. Way to go Swayne.
Sadly that’s not true. I’ve seen like 20 so far
I’m a sophomore in high school and I want to be an airline pilot when I’m older. Should I get my private pilots before I go to college.
If you can, I recommend it!
It’s totally worth it, I just soloed for my PPL and I’m 17.
@@SwayneMartinPilot Greetings from Singapore.
I just soloed for my PPL this past week. Gets you a step ahead of others that don’t have their PPL going into college.
@Alexis Morizot if you want to become a pilot, I would recommend ERAU or UND, I currently got to ERAU in AZ and its awesome here
Nice video bro
Waiting for your vlog# finally 🎈🎈🎈
I just started flight training and I’m so excited! Also, congratulations with your boyfriend!
Appreciate your tips and tricks! Now I'm ready to travel with my Bento Bag I bought from Nomad Lane. This is a game-changer
