  • The MFX is a compact 6HP Eurorack stereo digital audio multi effects processor. It offers 17 different full featured effects programs plus a number of metering utilities.
    Inspired by our favourite classic hardware effects processors, the MFX incorporates DSP technologies from the dawn of digital effects in the 70s to the present day. This combines with ALM character and uniqueness to form a highly useful, fun and practical Eurorack effects module.
    The MFX user interface is designed to be familiar, quick and easy to use. Each program contains a wide range of controllable parameters both directly editable or freely assigned to CV or clocked control. Additionally, each program includes factory presets as well as the ability to store and recall user presets. All states are preserved across power cycles.
    In this video we take a look at all the basic features and getting started with the MFX using the Digi-PCM Echo program to demonstrate.
    Please see here for audio-only demonstrations of each of the original 14 effects programs:

    Having internally controlled offset and attenuation is a really nice touch.

    Love my mfx. A feature request: would love a pitch shift effect, like the digitech whammy guitar pedal

    • @busycircuits

      The Tape-Tech, Yetti Reverb and Ensembles all include a pitch shifter!

    • @zhexum
      @zhexum Před měsícem

      @@busycircuits I missed that option in the Ensembles, thanks! Just to further this idea, a two octave pitch range would be awesome, where you could quantize the pitch so it only did octaves and fifths would be super handy (and maybe a glide effect?). 'Preciate it!

    wow sounds great, are we gonna see an upgrade to the system coupe that includes this?

    what level does the wet come out volts peak to peak? Ive noticed a lot of FX modules have really quiet output, i presume they attenuate it to lower the noise floor?

    Is it possible to use the MFX as a pitch shifter without a delay or reverb.

    2 related questions: Can FX modes be switched via CV and/or can presets be switched via CV? Read the manual, didn't see this specified. Thanks!

      Currently these are pretty much the only 2 things that cant be assigned to CV.

    Nice! Time to swap out one of my FX Aids

    • @LostForWords
      @LostForWords Před 2 lety +1

      Can I ask why? FX Aid has 200 effects available (32 at a time) and 4 knobs. The MFX screen is a nice benefit. Don't get me wrong I love ALM too and have some of their modules. I just can't see me sacrificing an FX Aid for one...yet

    • @michaelfaymusic
      @michaelfaymusic Před 2 lety +3

      @@LostForWords I have 2 fx aids and each time I want to remember what fx I have on either one and which knobs control which parameter I have to pull out the fx list. Also the spacing of the knobs is pretty brutal. I love how many wonderful quality fx options the fx aid has but im finding it a bit too much to navigate. Plus Alm is just one of my favorite companies and I've been waiting for a weirdo fx module from them for years.

    • @LostForWords
      @LostForWords Před 2 lety +1

      @@michaelfaymusic Valid points. It does require a print-out to remember what's what. I've got 3 and intended to load each with different categories of favourites but he's always adding more super effects which doesn't help. I can see I'll probably get a MFX as well at some point!

    • @michaelfaymusic
      @michaelfaymusic Před 2 lety

      @@LostForWords I know right? How are we finding ways to complain about amazing additional fx? I'm sure I'll just keep my fx aids and make room some other way if we're being honest :)

    • @michaelfaymusic
      @michaelfaymusic Před 2 lety +1

      @@LostForWords haha, kept both fx aids and bought the Mfx too! It's been a blast so far.

    Introducing... my wallet

  • @Bork_In_Volcanic
    @Bork_In_Volcanic Před 2 lety

    Main idea is clear: no hands-on controls, menu diving & usage of external CVs. But!Expander module looks quite wide. Is that an odd 5hp? It could be just a 2 hp with same functionality.
    (In-built low cut is an awesome idea, btw!)
