I was born in America but raised with Bulgarian storybooks, so when I watched this video I realised that I already knew the original story of Rapunzel, the Snow Queen, and a couple of the others from when I was a child. I found it hilarious that Bulgarian storybooks don't care as much as American stories about censoring their material.
There is a channel on yt who has these little animations (idk what it’s called) and they have these stories So i guess they took the animations from them
My childhodd consisted of somewhere in the middle but mostly like Grimm. The Snow Queen was exactly as I had it and Rapunzel was pretty similar except in the version I had, the witch wasn't named Gothel and Rapunzel never had twins. I preferred the versions I had because they weren't so light and bubbly as Disney made them, but not as dark and well as... grim as Grimm Tales. This made them feel more magical!
Meg's story is a little bit dark(let's say notgood for children) and Disney thankfully changed it... But absolutely she deserves to become an official disney princesse!!!

I'm so glad I read plenty of Grimm brothers' tales and Andersen as a child. It helped me to tell fantasy from reality and to be aware of existence of cruelty and not taking princesses as role models. I inherited my books to my nieces who are like me.
Look up The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker. I was hoping that Disney was going to go more with that storyline when they said it was adapted from the books, but the only idea they went with was the girl/princess turning into a frog as well. There was so much more to it than that. I was a little upset because I loved the books.

My grandma used to read the Grimm's fairy tale stories to me as bedtime stories. I didn't (and still don't) think these are that dark, but maybe that's just because I've been hearing these stories since I was a baby.

Lawrence (from Disney's film) must had been based on him at the start of the movie but had to change for the new plot.
