  • Special Assignment met four inmates of the maximum security section of Grootvlei prison just outside Bloemfontein, two men were inside for murder and one a bank robber and fourth, a fraudster and a thief. The special assignment team was told extraordinary tales of the corruption inside prison and was handed a chilling tape to prove it. The prisoners started making a secret video of their interaction with warders, they filmed the warders buying stolen prison food from them, bringing them drugs, juveniles for sex and even selling them a loaded fire arm.
This programme shows the video the man handed to the special assignment team and also reveals the identity of the implicated warders.

These wardens are the reason prisons are so useless. SA is doomed, death penalty is needed to balance things out.

That is so not the point. You have missed the plot completely..... not forgetting the risk that these prisoners are taking. They are gambling with there lives to show us the corrupt system that we expect them to come out of rehabilitated. Also what type of judicial justice system do we live in. What gives police the right to lock up someone and put them in jail for committing a crime and a judge the right to sentence a prisoner in jail from unsentenced section to sentenced section for that crime. When these wardens who are caught red handed on video committing a crime still have the right to work and live a normal life. Why are they not getting the same treatment. How can this be a democratic country where all people are treated equal and fair. This country is a joke!!!! Where laws only apply to those that have no power or rank or come from a less fortunate community and family..... I am definately not proud to be a south African nor will any law or official carry any weight or respect in my eyes after seeing this. I can't see how any judge has the right to pass a sentence and enforce a law. While these wardens are free to go about there daily lives and not treated the same as the person on the street who is being locked up on accusation or even caught within the act of a crime. Seriously....... please South Africans out there don't vote people into government that cannot simply come to the conclusion that 1 plus 1 equals 2. Because this documentary is way above there IQ, if at the time this footage was brought to light the wardens where still within a job maybe even still are. these parties we vote in power and call our government officials expecting them to enforce change and laws helping us in becoming a proud south africa. They will always miss the boat and never see the light!!!!!! We actually don't have a jail where you are being punished for your wrong doings and the hope that the punishment will help you see your wrong and rehabilitate you to want to do and choose the right. No we south Africans have a place where we teach people how to become a better criminal more corrupt, sick, cold and creating..... we are all are own demise and destruction as man and woman will it!!!!!

exactly. In the words of the late John Mongrel," If a warder ain't right, I Keel Hem." People are quick to judge until they understand that environment of conform or die. There is a gang called the 27s and they get their positioned by stabbing a warder. Now can you imagine how many 27s there are which would ultimately mean how many warders have been stabbed

Its the fear of retaliation from his gang rather than fearing the old man. In jail there are gangs and not individuals. you end up being ruled by people you could easily hit if outside but the problem is the 1000+ people that are in his gang.
