Cookie-cutter approaches don't work. To help outside-the-box, neurodiverse kids, we need the right tools.
Traditional interventions often fail because they don't get to the ROOT of the problem.
So patterns get WORSE each year, leading to pervasive difficulties transitioning into adulthood.

Getting out of the door is so difficult and anxiety provoking for me that it makes me stay home a lot.

I love that the amygdala is being talked about more and more lately because it has such a big impact on us. I never even considered how it can affect executive functioning, but I shouldn’t be surprised because I know how fight/flight/freeze/dawn being triggered when not needed can really negatively impact someone’s life. Thanks for connecting the two so eloquently, Seth!

A brilliant video! I shared with my kids, one of whom having weak EF which might be related to her ASD. I think it helps her understand better the EF concept and the way it works within her body. Thanks Seth!

This was an excellent video and using visuals is so important for the kids with whom I teach and myself. You reminded me that when students get flooded with information they can't organize it actually creates even higher levels of stress and tasks can become insurmountable. Some students and adults have lower thresholds for stress which makes it even more complicated and stressful. Thank you for this video and for sharing your knowledge.

Thanks Seth, as always, for such great info! My question/concern about the brain and executive functioning- I currently have my 6 year old seeing a chiropractor and working on eliminating some left over primitive reflexes he still has (apparently) as to help him not be in a constant flight/fight/freeze mode. Do you think these reflexes and having a good spine alignment does help with the amygdala and improving executive functioning skills/attention skills?

I would suggest having your child evaluated by an occupational therapist that specializes in treating children. I'm not a doctor, we're just in the process of working with an OT and I've noticed changes in my son. We started with a general OT in our town, but now we drive 3.5 hours to get to one that specializes in treating children. Also, if you don't believe he has retained primitive reflexes you can still get him evaluated just to rule it out.
