I agree its not an upset but not for the same reasons, Niemeir is a lucky looser and a very average player on every surface, but Sakkari is a fraud so they're both average so no upset

Tough loss for Maria, but I always knew Niemeier was going to be very dangerous once she put it all together. She’s got power for days, the girl is built like a rugby player.
Sakkari accused the umpire of bias in favour of Niemeier just because she's German. She should be fined for making an accusation like that.
Sakkari is arrogant and I hope she continues to lose.
Sakkari was actually right to complain (but not to accuse the umpire of bias). Niemeier hit the ball out (review showed it) before Sakkari hit the ball out, and still the umpire gave the point to Niemeier...

I'm a fan of Sakkari cause she's immensely talented. She's added more attack style to her game but she still likes to hang around the baseline to much and be passive at times. She should add the occasional Serv & Volley in the mix. I believe she's overthinking during her matches.
Jule is looking fantastic and I hope she's does well. Thi is her best surface.

Learning more about Niemeier's game. She can be absolutely dangerous when she is on.
Sakkari has got game: she needs to regain that confidence and restart painting corners on first-strike basis (like Rybakina) instead of hitting down the center 01:40 that her opponents easily tee off of.
Niemeier's forehand especially on grass is a match made in heaven.
Jule looks terrific, she has really boosted her physique and tennis. May she continue with more and more victories, believing that she can win, because she can....Great match today.

I have said this many times. How Sakkari is still seeded in any tournament and is still in the top ten is beyond me.
Simply because she was the highest ranked player in the tournament (based on the rolling 52 weeks ranking points system). You may want to instruct yourself on how the ranking system works.

Least spoken FH in WTA and in my eyes TOP5 FH among current players interms of power. Julia just has to figure out how to build her game around that fire balls she can smack on FH side.
She reminds me of Kyle Edmund on ATP tour, powerful FH and good game in general. He's been injured for a long time now unfortunately.
If Sakkari doesn’t fix her psychological issues soon, it’s hard to see her having better results on the tour with so much competition around. Looks like she’s made the most of her talent already.
perhaps it is also a talent issue. Not sure what she has that is so great, big muscles does not help. I see she gave David Witt the boot, it really is her, not the Coach!
@nt4081 oh wow she did. Ok it makes sense now. Cause when he was there, to me, she seemed to be doing well, more focused. But this string of 1st round exits explains a lot.

@@ricklee5845 Aren't they all Greek (by birth or parentage). I don't want to think she's uncoachable but maybe her drive isn't all the way there. I mean she said it herself (make fun of her losing semifinals) And for someone who's been top 10 for how many years she only has 2 tournament wins, a 125 or 250 I can't recall and the 1000.

Maria is on shaky grounds lately, I hope she manages to find solid grounds soon, or else, we will miss her.

Sakkari’s monotonous grinding style doesn’t work on grass and these days it doesn’t work much on any surface. I would say her days in 5he top ten are numbered

Emma has won a GS which Sakkarri will never taste in this lifetime or the next. If Emma retires today she’d have had a better career than 95% of the players on the WTA. Everything in perspective hey.

Sakkari ya esta bajando la cuesta. Su mejor tenis ya fue. Lamentablemenete con su mejor tenis no pudo hacer gran cosa pero algo logro, algunos titulos.
