Great video! I purchased the 2021 GP1800R HO on Wednesday. Can't wait to get it out on the water
Hope you enjoy it!
Just ordered mine plus the fx limited cant wait for delivery day
Dang! Gonna be a big summer!
My 21 gp1800r svho supercharger clutch just broke and have to get a new supercharger
Sorry to hear it.
@@watercraftjournal she was ripping and then it would not go full throttle and then she finally went
Didn't you forget to mention the new speakers system? 🤨
This was mainly on the performance aspects of the speakers. Look to our VX video for more on the speakers.
Expecially Brilliant !
Enjoy!
Thanks for the video... oh man.. it's sooo difficult to decide: I planned to buy the RXT-X and now I am thinking more and more about the Yamaha...
Wait a month until the new Sea-Doo's are revealed!
@@watercraftjournal Thanks for your fast answer! I will text you again. God bless you.
SEA DOOOOOONT!!
Stick with closed Loop cooling.
@@maxflight777 I always thought of that open loop is a gimmick, no matter what, the engine uses a thermostat. Id see no major difference in power with open cooling
Very informative video. I do have a question I cannot find an answer to anywhere. Does the GP 1800r HO have any accessory ports to charge your phone? I know the VX Cruiser HO does but cannot find any info about this for the GP.
Again, the USB ports are sold as accessories not options. You’ll need to call your local dealer to have them installed.
I can't wait to see what sea-doo got planned
Hang on tight. It's going to be a helluva year.
The only way sea doo can compete with this is include Santa Claus and The Easter Bunny on their skis....and a date with Jennifer Lawrence, but that will only be on available in their GPX models.....
@@watercraftjournal mhmm this comment just got me excited. Is there a specific date or is that hush hush?
Does it only have "normal" and "slow" for acceleration? Would be nice if it had the top speed of the svho but had like 10 tuneable "throttle response" settings....less responsive throttle is really nice for chop.
Ask this question tonight on our live feed!
Great! I would like to ad transalation to spanish in the subtitles, but it seems "The video that you requested isn't enabled for community contribution"
Sorry. We keep our restrictions at the standard level to keep people from spamming our channel.
The Watercraft Journal respect
Amazing
Thanks
How did you like the automatic trim?
It's OK. We'll have a full detailed review of the GP in a couple of weeks.
Awesome review! Very informative, and well done. I'm thinking about buying the GP 1800 R HO. Would it be possible to add a couple of pull-up cleats, and upgrade the reboard step?
It'll already have a reboarding step. The cleats require a lot of drilling and hole cutting into your super-thin NanoXcel2 material - and there's a good reason why Yamaha doesn't offer them on the GPs. Best go without them.
@@watercraftjournal Thanks.
What’s the horse power??
See our video on Yamaha horsepower numbers.
No product competitor announced for 2021 from Yamaha to the Sea Doo Fish Pro?
Please look at the article linked in the description. Yamaha will not dedicate a unit to fishing (too small of a segment) but you can equip yours with a HUGE product catalog.
@@watercraftjournal Thank you, I totally missed the article!
That's interesting though considering you can't find a FishPro anywhere... they are all sold out
I have the same model, gp1800r (black and green)
Just want to buy the speakers, but the Dealer in Brasil doesnt have it.
Where I can buy in the US?
Thanks!
You can buy any and all of your OE parts from www.rivaracing.com.
@@watercraftjournal I couldn't find it on this site
Then email or call them. This is very easily solved.
How fast is the naturally aspirated compared to the supercharged
63-64mph vs. 68.5-69mph.
The Watercraft Journal awesome! Thanks for the response
I just bought a 2020 gp1800 svho this past summer. I really like the upgrades of the 2021 GP's but to be honest I don't really like the look of them.
Enjoy the machine you've got! You'll love it.
@@watercraftjournal i came from a 2005 rxp215 which defintely wasnt slow at 72mph top speed and the GP1800 made that seem slow. I love it!
i like my 2020 but this ones growing on me def better than the new rxt i mean rxp
It's pretty great!
Overall it's not bad. I like the sportier look of the handlebars. Something about the front isn't good.. I can't put my finger on it. Looks kinda cheap. Maybe the front plastic. Also not a fan of throwing speakers on these..everyone will be blaring trashy music all over the water
It's what the people want. Sales and demand forced their hands.
@@watercraftjournal oh I understand the dollar drives decision making. But it's been my experience that the ones with the loudest music are often the more reckless riders.
We're not sure about that, but they're certainly the most disliked! LOL!
great video thanks, model 2021 have made any changes? sorry, i'm deaf, i have cochlear implant. thanks if you answer my question. Mauro from california
Then PLEASE read our review of the 2021 GP1800R published at www.watercraftjournal.com
@@watercraftjournal ok thank you
How do you turn on sport mode
There is no "sport mode."
so I've heard that both the Gp1800 HO and SVHO both top out at 68.5 due to U.S regulation, is that true? I know the SVHO does, but what about the HO?
Hmm, not quite. The HO won't hit more than 63.5-65mph (depending on trim, weight of rider, fuel in the tank, water conditions, etc.). The SVHO will GPS at 70.1mph for a second or two and back down to a "sustained" top speed of 68.7mph with our big dumb Irishman riding it. (Full review coming in 12 days!)
There's nothing like not being able to get one to make you want one more.
Yeah, it's not good.
How does this new gp SVHO handle in rougher water compared to the rxt x
Seeing that the P-X is awful offshore, we'll lean more towards the GP.
Do the speakers fit the 2018 gp1800? If so I’m going to install them in mine
No, sorry.
Send one for me to Germany, Color , black red !👍
They're coming - slowly!
Possible to know if this ski is as fast or faster than a 2018 Seadoo RXTX 300 in acceleration to 70mph? I heard it has launch control and automatic trim, must be nice:)
There "might" be a potential shootout coming later this year. ;)
@@watercraftjournal Thank you! You guys are the best!
@@watercraftjournal What's the maximum riders weight? I'm narrowing down my decision:)
Hopefully they fixed the "holeshot" disappointment compared to the 310R after all these years. If they don't put these ski's on a diet (thanks Coast Guard) they are gonna require a tandem trailer to start hauling the damn things in 10 more years LOL!!
I know what you mean going from 300x to 2020 Yamaha GP1800R.
Make sure you check out our latest acceleration test video.
Does the GP come with cruise control for 2021?
Cruise? Yes.
It fails to answer the one question I want to know. How fast?
The same as ALL supercharged PWC in the US: 68.5mph.
Looks like an ex from the back and a 2009 vx. I liked the 2020 better
There's a lot of family DNA there.
i would take the GP motor reliability with RXT-X ergonomic design...
I have a RXT. Love the ski if only it was Yamaha reliable
GL Jetski Racing
any carbon seal failure yet ?
Jessy Bwoy86 lol had it 2 times on my rxp and I had it once on my RXT. The one on the RXT didn’t end up sinking but the rxp did
GL Jetski Racing
holy shit !!
when the ski sink, does it literally sink to the bottom of the lake or does the nose still stays up floating ? i would be mad !!
Oh man, that sucks. Sorry to hear that.
What’s the msrp on the new ones?
The SuperJet is listed at $9,499; for all of the new 2021 model prices, please read the article: watercraftjournal.com/gallery-introducing-the-2021-yamaha-waverunner-lineup-video/
Horsepower #?
252bhp
The Watercraft Journal thanx👍
These two series have always been separated GPR and the SVHO way to go Yamaha for ruining that. But hey I guess I’m a traditionalists when there were actually 2 seaters and 3 seaters.... not a 3 seater that identifies as a 2 seater.
Hmm, not quite. The 2017 GP1800 was always powered by the SVHO engine. It's just in 2020 when the marketing department changed the VXR to the GP1800R HO, forcing the GP1800R to tack on the "SVHO" name at the end did it become obnoxious.
“High strength plastic hinge”
That's a underhanded dig at Kawasaki's hinge on the STX that's been breaking.
The hinge has been breaking or the hood? Never heard of the hinge breaking and cant imagine it would with the hood plastic being so thin and weak. Cant imagine enough force to break the much thicker hinge plastic before the thin hood plastic breaks. And Im pretty sure the previous hinge was aluminum not plastic. Have to check on that one though. If I am correct I think he is trying to say the new plastic hinge is an upgrade over the aluminum hinge when we know it probably is not. Just like Kawasaki the plastic is cheaper and easier to produce.
Yes, the Kawasaki STX models are all seeing severe breakage on the hood, hinge and base. So much so that hoods are being ripped off and lost in the water. The previous Yamaha hinge was an aluminum piece but was thin and not spring-loaded. These new hinges have a gas strut like the FX's, but since they're plastic, don't add any weight. They're also a little tighter, so they don't "flop" as much.
Sea Doo's are better
We're not agreeing or disagreeing, but we'd like to know how?
@@watercraftjournal CLCS, more intuitive ways for storage, better for towing, and more variety than Yamaha and those other crappy PWC's
Disgusting what the hell is yamaha thinking. They destroyed the gp1800r
Clearly, taste is subjective as many feel the exact opposite of you.
The Watercraft Journal to each their own but im sorry it’s disgusting to others its beautiful I perfer the older ones thats just me hopefully they don’t destroy they atv line
Yamaha is years behind on innovation.
Really? How so?
3 more inches in length, it will be a boat, to much electronics, more junk, to go wrong!
Don't buy one! Problem solved!
@@watercraftjournal got 3 waverunners, 1995 701, 1996 , 1100, 1999 GP 1200, all run like the day, i bought them, ha ha ha, nothing runs like a Yamaha!
