Couple people mentioning higher exhaust temps COULD mean the cooler is doing a better job dissipating heat. The thing is, Sony removed a SIZABLE amount of the heatsink on this new model. With fewer fins and smaller heatpipes it simply isn't as efficient at moving the heat out of the console.
Think about it as if it were a PC. If I remove a large CPU heatsink in favor of a smaller one the exhaust coming off my system would be hotter as the overall system temps are higher since the weaker cooler can't cope. That's exactly what's going on here IMO.

the temperatures do not concern me as they did not test the chip thermals, and removing more of the heatsink doesn't always means its worse if the design is better. the item that bugs me is that wifi/bluetooth card. it looks like they only connected it to one antenna, where the first design seems to have 2, which is a big problem for my PS4. I can not use wifi on that console because the controllers drop connection and the entire system requires a restart to reconnect. it may have always been an issue, but i never encountered it until last year when i did not have an ethernet connection setup for a few weeks. i replaced the antenna twice, but it doesn't fix the problem. that was also a launch system, and it still works otherwise. i have opened it a few times to clean it, and removed the haptic sensor for the disc drive. the fan is very loud, but pretty typical for the original PS4.

I notice it more when it is in game mode and HDR is turned on. When I turn HDR off it goes away a little but is still noticeable. Warmer air out the back could indicate better heat transfer, keeping the APU cooler while venting more heat. They probably applied the goldilocks principle in regards to heat sink surface area to fan ratio.
This is the comment I've been expecting. Looks like Austin lost the touch.
Is this a bad thing or good thing for newer Ps5s models?
@@steph3890 think of it as optimization for the cooling system, just look up the goldilocks principle for thermodynamics. Are the changes also applied to the disc version? Which model # would they be?
Actually it's better when the exhaust shows higher degrees, because that means that more hot air is being thrusted out.
I believe if they would check the temps of the board , it will be the close or similar to eachother
Or, it simply means that the fan/ vent is saturated by all the hot air inside the console, without being able to move it out efficiently (it reached its peak performance).
Each fan is rated by its capacity to move air, and once you reach that capacity than it is time to add another one, or to improve cooling system in different way.
Removing significant chunk of a heatsink from an enclosed environment, such as ps5 is, without adding/ improving air circulation is a poor design/ cash grabber decision. Simple as that.

Lol turns out the heatsink is making the only thing it cools run hotter. The cpu/gpu runs 4-5c hotter. The metal plate has Punch outs that stick out further to cool the vrm and memory better. what i think is that Sony did further testing on the CPU, GPU, and SSD heat wise and decided that shaving what they did off the console was a better off idea. maybe the 52^C temp is low but 55^C could be within the console’s safe temp range. like in a car, say 10 degrees is the threshold to where it becomes concerning, the same could possibly be said about the ps5. now, with this decision being as new as it is, the real test is wether or not this decision needs to be reversed because the systems shut down from excessive heat in the future. there are many possible reasons as to why Sony chose to cut off weight and material from the heat sync, but sounding off on this so quick, saying that oh well 55^C is wayyyyyyyyy too high. doing that doesn’t prove that it was good or bad. all of this is conjecture, and with it being 1 and a half years since the launch, we can’t say for certain which choice ends up being the standard in the system
55 Celsius out of the vents is 80-90 Celsius actual chip temp. That’s terrible for long term health but not gonna kill it really. All that mean is you’re gonna be replacing thermal paste every 6 or 7 years to keep the chip from thermal throttling
So I have teh CFI-1115A and wondering whats the difference between the old ones and the new model i have besides the parts inside the remotes which are said to last longer before parts decay and get stick drift or trigger issues like the old versions which you can tell if you look at the FCC ID on back of ps5 remote if it ends in 1A you have new parts if it ends in 1 you have the old parts
I'm wondering what do we saw at thermal pricture? was it's just the temperature of the heatsink? Perhaps it's possible that CPU/GPU is still cool?
Yeah more thorough tests have now been made, cpu runs a whopping 10C cooler on the new ps5 they tested. With memory etc slightly hotter but the console exhausting more heat overall. Bigger doesn't always equal better, it was a total redesign.

@@weaverquest it's pretty nuts yeah, seems like the old one was just overkill with fins and wasn't very well optimised. The new one allows for better air flow but has the same number of copper pipes which are reconfigured to take the heat further away from the cpu before its dissapated. Even still its a crazy improvement. I'd really like to see it corroborated by others though as the test was only comparing one of each version.
The CPU/GPU may sill be cool, but the overall temperature of the console is higher which will affect the other components.
Turns out that only monitoring the exhaust isn't accurate.
What a surprise.
5M subscribers BTW
Austin is a great CZcamsr, he just made a mistake this time like people often do. He should just apologize, admit his mistake & promise to do better than move on. People will respect him more if he just says he's sorry for not doing enough research.
Turns out having a smaller heat sink makes it run hotter lol
I know right..5M subscribers?! Wow, there is no accounting for taste...or facts..
@@DragonHeart613 he's a terrible CZcamsr and a fraud. No-one who knows anything about tech takes him seriously. He is a laughing stock.
@@liamcollings6168 turns out the PS5 revision runs 11 degrees cooler then the old launch model with the larger heat sink.
I am from Sweden how do I know if I got the original or a newer??
9:47 - Does anyone else notice that the 1015B PS5's heat sink is shaped like a tank, while the 1100B PS5's heat sink is shaped like a gun?
I'm definitely seeing it.
Can’t wait to sell the original screw for the stand for $3000 in 10 years from now
😂
Is that if everything goes to sh!t? Or more to sh!t than it did last year?.. As if so then that 3K may be equivalent to 10 Bucks in 10 years lol
@@hunyesmith03 During the Hyperinflation in Germany the currency was devalued 1 to 1 trillion in 9 years, lol. So with enough bad luck those 3K could be worth less than a cent in 10 years.
I might be wrong, but i remember a video that showed that even the “OG” PS5 had different fans already.
Yeah and I think the noise only affects it, cooling wise it's basically the same. It depends by region to what fan model you get with the original ps5, I think.
@@thekangaroo1880 it was something like that (region, batch, production location…) but i remember that there was indeed a little noise difference as well…damn now i need to look it up…:-p
Oh goddamned the video was from the dude in this video 😂😂
That’s what I said on Twitter, there were 2 different fans at launch
There are 6 types of ps5 fans that are designed differently and sound different and not just the fans a few more components are different like the ssd is developed by 3 Companies for ps5
EDIT: Most of the Coil Whine problems happend with NMB and Nidec fans while delta fans were having no problem accept a buzzing noise that happens to a Delta fan when the fan screw isnt tight enough
So this explains why when I just took mime apart to clean I have burn/heat marks on my plates...
How do I know if I got a newer version or older version of the ps5?
CFI 1023456 for old ones. CFI 1123456 new one. On your ps5 there is serial code on the Side focus on last two digits 10 and 11
With the latest news that you were wrong about the new version being "worse", I guess you have to take down this video or do something about it :)
He's happy to continue monetising his idiocy.
He won't he knows exactly what he's doing
People make mistakes and youtubers are no exception. First of all, why are you happy that he's wrong. In my personal opinion, you're satisfied that he's wrong because it makes him look bad and not because the new ps5 is actually better. And secondly why do you guys feel the need to mock him?
@@LlenPlays that comment goes to you too
@@AgentOrange502 Yeah he made a mistake, and he should own up to it, but no instead he's not backing down. He instead pulled out the victim card
Well damn they have a new one? I can’t even get the old one.
Lmao same
I got mine 3 days ago and I got the old 1
ha ha
The ps5 had basically been permanently unavailable in the uk 😂
believe me it is better! Make yourself a favor a buy another thing
How to notice if it's the new or original if I'm at the store to buy one?
The newer ps prolly hotter on outside bc it’s kicking out more hot air hopefully
Your right people mad at Austin because was wrong
The fact that you have 2 PS5's in the same shot is the truly impressive part of the video tbh.
I want to 😄 and 😭 at the same time.
I can get you a shot of two PS5s and an Xbox series X right now! I must have been lucky!
You could but one any day for 4 times the price lol
My friend got lucky buying 3 ps5 and gave it to us as a gift.
@@doraemon.23 lol no he didn’t
“The new PS5 is worse”
*intel has entered the chat*
Ah yes can't wait for 720p 30fps game play
*15 fps take it or leave
5 fps take it or leave it
3 fps take it or leave it
2 fps take it or leave it
I played mine all summer in a 40 degrees Celsius room full of dust and I never had issues with overheating
What monitors are those?
They are probably using a combo Bluetooth/WiFi module that shares antennae for both, which sucks.
I'm sure they tested if it's problematic during multiplayer.
Why does it suck
@@carlosesparzavazquez4753 Signal interference I assume
@@saalehmajiet9499 To be honest when something is used just in one place like a PS5 just use a cable more stable overall and less problems.
Just buy a 20ft cable and plug your controller in if you're so concerned.
This aged like milk
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍
Am I missing something? :P lol
@@miroslavmajic8969 Basically it’s been proven that the new PS5 cools better than the old one and that a lot of what he said was in fact misinformation. Doesn’t excuse doxing and harassment tho.
Ohh lol my bad
But I mean Idk I have ps4 pro an after year nd half it was so loud like I have a jet in my room.. Didn't they do same thing with ps4 pro to original ps4 like they did with this B chassis version of ps5 or no? I think cooling system nd fan all that is worse on pro then on original ps4.. It's just weird that my friends have ps4 longer then me and theirs work better still quiet like first time..It's just mind blowing but okay if some have opinion or answer to this I will gladly listen to it 😛
@Austin Evans I have the cfi-1115a ver of the ps5 so I assume it part of the 2nd gen of the ps5 or the cfi 1100 or it it different yet again ?
Still waiting for a real apology.
Cry about it, consoomer.
