I don’t know if you’re even looking at this page anymore, but I wanted to let you know that I just found this clip looking for info about the NanoKey, and you helped; I did not know that the Korg Kontrol Editor program even existed. I thought it was locked into MIDI channel 1 and couldn’t be changed. So... you helped; THANKS!
All right! Thanks for the reply! Greatly appreciate it!!
@JavaSpitLava no, its a MIDI controller for controlling software instruments or for using with a MIDI sequencer.
Thanks for the review. I'm buying one today.
this was a good review video..thanks!
That really depends on what you are playing, the keyboard is only the keyboard, it doesnt make any sound itself. You'll need to get your head around Cubase a little more, the keyboard will usually play whatever instrument track is selected.
Both pieces are from us. Sonicstate homegrown, glad you like them
I want this thing so bad! It looks so simple and that's exactly what I need.
No, there is no pedal input. You could program the mod or pitch puttons to act like a sustain though
got this for christmas its great!!
that has to be done inside your sequencer or vst.
I turn it off lot of times because sometimes you need to press it really hard (depending the vst).
Generally its a knob which says "velocity"
put it to 0 and there you go
I picked one up a couple of days ago for $70 CDN. The keys are very much like laptop keys, in terms of the material used and the way they are attached to the board. They even make the same type of clicking noise when they are pressed. It is very portable and the drivers install easily in XP. The mod keys and the velocity sensitivity work great. This is a perfect MIDI controller for basic MIDI programming and for people who are not primarily keyboard players. Works flawlessly with Cubase.
Its probably because you are using the internal soundcard of the laptop which by default may have a high latency setting - which is why there will be a delay. You laptop may not be able to give you better performance, you will have to tweak the audio setup in FL itself and see if you can reduce it.
@JavaSpitLava but at 49 bucks, I'm not sure what you would expect. If you like little check out the Teenage Engineering OP-1 (pricey)
Cool, thanks!
love my nanokey.
@2709jones not sure about th efast track but with fl i just plug it in to my comps ub chord with the white chord thats comes with the nano key. then i go to option>midi settings>rescan midi devices and make sure the enable buttons illuminated
if you're just starting out, I'd definitely reccomend the nanokontrol and the nanopad.
@NielsUHP10 the nano key is only a midi controller so it doesnt have its own stock sounds but it does come with like a digital version of the korg m1 keyboard you just need to read the instructions and itll tell you how to do that. I use mine with fl studio and i like it alot
How good is the velocity sensitivity on the keyboard keys? Can you play very soft or very loud and everything in between? How much distance is there from the press until it stops?
I can see why people would say that, it is a bit flimsy. Mine did hold up okay, so far.
Audio onboard Realtek ´97 is working now. I tweaked ASIO4ALL and it has no delay.. :)
It really is just the colour as far as I know
Well, I say it's good enough for putting notes into Sibelius. You made my decision for me :D
Had two of these. After a few months of keeping them in a rucksack with my computer, some of the keys started falling off both units.
Scrolling thru the comments, it seems others have had this problem as well.
Hope the NanoKey 2 doesn't have the same defect.
Thanks for sharing. How do I set velocity after touch?
@kohorax yes if you have any music software e.g.reason,ableton,cubase,FLstudio,garageband,logic, Pro tools. To name a few!
Is it possible to have multiple keyboards connected to one computer at a time, so that different keyboards could be assigned a different MIDI channel? for different instruments?
I have one. It's great for software synths!
Wow, just discovered this, I thought it would be more expensive, when I saw the price I instantly looked up some demos and reviews of it. I think I'll buy this instead of a distortion pedal now, I really need a real keyboard rather than VMPK, the virtual one I use with Mixcraft. Thanks.
Volume and delay after key depress seem to be unstable?
Backdrifts in the beginning!
Hola tengo un nano Key y no lo puedo hacer andar , con que Windows va?? En cuál programa lo puedo usar , me reconoce el aparato pero no anda no se
can i just plug the usb in my mac or computer and Logic Pro or Garageband will recognize it? thanks
I would like to learn piano, but I don't want to initially spend a lot of money until I know im gonna stick with it. Plus I don't have a ton of space in my apartment, and i thought this would be perfect for my needs. Would you recommend learning on this keyboard?
I got the NanoKontrol and NanoPad but I'm thinking about mixing and matching it with the Akai MPK Mini keyboard instead of this. Something just doesnt seem right about it. It seems cool, but as a keyboard I dont know. The keys seem more like pads.
thinking of buying one in 2020 (i'm a beginner) found one on ebay for 50 euro. worth it?
Looks perfect for key switches...
Wow that's radiohead's backdrifts at the begining :)
i just bought an iphone app called ak-7 keyboard over wi-fi - if you've got an iphone or ipod touch already it makes a handy input device on an ad-hoc wi-fi connection to your macbook pro :o)
Hello
I'm new on the keyboard/piano thing. Can you plug in headphones and just play? Or do you have to download programs on your computer and plug in into there?
so can you record the music you create to a sound file? (mp3, aac, etc) Thanks
Same question!! Please help.. Thinking about getting one and I need to know if it would work with GarageBand '09 pleae!!?
just use korg kontrol editor to send a "scene" to the nanokey! it's a nice tool for mobile sequencing.
Thanks! Appreciate it... At least it's not THAT much money right?
is it possible to use 2 nanokeys at the same time with ableton or any other program??
Hey planning on getting this, will it run on audacity, and anythign else cheasp you could recomend for a first time home recorder? ps will i need a decent soound card?
Im sure anything will eventually fall apart if you beat it up. I think the nanokey is fine as long as you play it and not pound it.
@sonicstate What can I do to tweak audio in FL? I have ASIO yet. (PC's sound onboard)
I have to leave for a shop imediately!!!
Guys, what to buy for ambient: the Nanokey or Nanopad?
I lost my usb fire what to do now...will it work with any usb mini b...
hi
I have a question:
I just got the keyboard and wondered how you actually change the sound that ech key make. I use cubase. I know i'm a bit of a noob but I never had a keyboard before so please help me. Thx!
great review! i just got one and it works well with cubase in my pc. anyone here know if it works well with logic studio?it'd be great if i can lug this around with my laptop to record anytime. thanks!
wow dude!
yes
I was thinking that... but I need tomove around quite a bit so this would be better me thinks... transporting the M-Audio Ox 8v2 could quickly become annoying... :(
is there any way to connect this device with my korg PA 500 ? so i can play a piano sample on the nanokey sent by my PA?
Should i get this or the Akai LPK25?
Heard from a couple people that they are not at all durable. Did it hold up?
can this be used for a midi in a pro tools vacuum?
Where i can download the "Korg Kontrol Editor" ?
Pls send me the link via PM. Thx
I agree with the reviewer, not a great keyboard, but suitable for on the go, this is one item I wouldn't have issues throwing in a backpack, if it gets damaged, I'm not going to cry over it.
The biggest flaw on this keyboard is the cc mode key, I've hit it in error a few times and it's not positioned well, it should have been separated from the rest of the keys and had its own spot.
I mean the Akai LPK 25. Not MPK.
can someone tell me how to fix a key that popped out of the nano key????????????
Okay, how do you "record" it, or make something you play to a media player file fx?? somebody knows????
Wwhere can you download the "Korg Kontrol Editor"?
nice!
they actually do the same thing man but if yiou have the money get the best axiom 25 the nanokey keys pop out
Im looking nanoKey driver for Windows. Someone konws where can i find it?
works with both pc and mac?
@kendallbob Think it works fine on FL?
hmm...... Well thanks! Yeah, um, do you know about the "digitalent" HandMidi? I guess that's maybe just like the monome? But yeah... Was just wondering if the Digitalent HandMidi worked with GarageBand...?? If anybody knows it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
please do the pioneer ddj-s1 :)
Does the synth program work with windows?
Hahah, whew! Thanks! And do you know anything about that other device you can get that hooks up to a NanoKEY and you can tilt your keyboard so it makes a different key/note/sound whatever!! It is super cool... :} Just wondering if you know.....
OR ANYBODY??? Thanks!
ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX LATENCY IN FL STUDIO????????????!! THX
I was surprised to hear a sample from Radiohead at the start lol
@V19torrent
Hah I'm not the only one who heard Backdrifts in the start
I'm really thinking about getting this... Could someone help me out though please? I really need to know what is the difference between $53 black NanoKEY and this one which is $50 online....I mean they're both "KORG nanoKEY 25-Key USB MIDI Controller Keyboard" right? so what's the difference??
Just got a nanokey2 in black for £11 with free postage 👌👌👌
"You'll need to get your head around Cubase a little more, the keyboard will usually play whatever instrument track is selected."
Could you maybe explain that little bit more. I don't really undertand. I mean what is an instrument track??
I found out now
Well at the time, there was no alternative, the Akais may well be better, but I havent got my hands on one. I think I do say it is the least well built of the three.
Nope, no sustain pedal input there, just a USB input
anyone knows how to velocity lock this?
will it work wit flstudio 8?
@kendallbob Sweet, ordering a NanoKEY2 asap!
can it work with m1 le
jordan rudess pounds his pretty hard and it seems to be holding up quite well :D
@sonicstate I've got ASIO4ALL with sound onboard.. My pc is ultragood in performance. But sound is Onboard .. How can I tweak this on Fruity Loops??? (I pretend to use my PC-Keyboard as a MIDI.. If it not works I will have to buy the Nano..Please answer me :) Thanksss
r go buy the akai lpk25 ! i have a nanokey but the keys pop out like crazy
I hear it works amazng wtih traktor, dude.
i thought to get it for foot play what you think?
Nope it wouldn't last very long and be hard to play. KMI footstep
i want 2 get the korg nano key (black)
and then a mic. to do dark ambient stuff...peoples opinions screw up my feelings about getting one...but i am...
they say the akai lpk25 is better, but it depends what music u play...i like dark ambient with black metal vocals not pop bullshit!
@vargarna87 It isn't the controller , it is you audio drivers. You can download AISO 4 All wich is a very good low latency driver for windows. The native drivers for windows just sucks so download AISO or get a custom soundcard before you complain =)
@ts4357 Can you provide the name of that soundcard that allows me to search here in Brazil? Thanks :) I will search some external (usb) and cheap soundcard, 'cause my fucking videocard GEFORCE 9600 is too big and doesn't allows me to use my other PCI entrance to install a audiocard. Lol..
@norwegiantechnolover Definitely, go for it! :)
Does this shit work well wtih Reason 4.0?
haha the monome?! that things a little espensive... and complicated as hell...
