Hello. I changed my exhaust camshaft and sprocket is line up with edge of cylinder head and I have question about the dots from other side of sprockets. They should be exactly horizontally with edge of cylinder head or they can be little bit lower? Thank you.
Hi. These dots on the other side are for correlation of both camshafts, what you need to pay attention to is alignment marks on outer part of camshaft sprocket, the bottom on crankshaft and chain coloured links.
Where are you located? Need someone experienced and competent to do my chains after oil pump chain snapped, fortunately whilst coming to a halt and turnt off engine as soon as oil pressure light came on. Have no idea what a job like this should cost
Hi, I'm located in Norway at this moment. The replacement of the oil pump chain on the car would be approx ten hours. Multiply it by the working hour cost in your country. You need to know that the reason for snapping the oil pump chain is due to extended intervals of oil replacement. This issue happens on older cars only and without flexible service intervals; in that case, you should inspect other engine components. The fact you have turned off the engine instantly helps a lot.

Never took an engine out before, that's the bit that scares me, otherwise I think I could probably take it on myself between me and a couple mechanically minded friends. Typically this happened about a week after a full oil service, at 6 months from the previous oil change. Car has a dotted history, I believe it may have happened once before a had a quick fix, I know these engines have a lot of trouble in terms of oil dilution and pick ups becoming blocked. I'm hoping there is no further damage other than cogs and guides etc but really the engine needs a good recondition and no doubt carbon clean etc

Since Mazda introduced this engine I have never replaced any timing chain because of stretch or failure. Now, to make it and the engine last longer I recommend frequent oil replacement.

There are two types of marks: Oil pump driven sprocket is with two dots and on the drive sprocket will be one, other option is: the driven sprocket three dots and on the drive sprocket will be two dots. Camshaft sprocket is with one dot and drive sprocket for timing chain is with one. I've never seen oil pump driven sprocket with one dot,I do not say it is not possible. Would it be helpful info for You?

The replacement procedure of the timing chain looks the same as on the video. Pay attention to the alignment marks. The timing chain as a physical part is not the same.
@@rjnnc That is for all Skyactiv engines, start with the valve cover, oil sump and side wall or timing chain cover, you should either support the engine underneath or hang it.
@@JB_Auto I'm assuming that for that for the sake of the transmission that the engine will have to be decoupled from the transmission to support it or hang it and that the motor mounts will need to be disconnected?
@@rjnnc If you want to remove T.Chain only, you need to remove the RF engine mount. Removal of gearbox only, support the engine on the bottom or top. If both, then remove the whole engine, that will be faster.

@@JB_Auto ok jb because I need to change headgasket so I thought I will change the timing chain aswell. With the headgasket change is it important to torque the bolts correctly or can you put the cylinder head on with out torquing the bolts
@Jay Kay I never heard that statement, if you do the job right then the engine must run as it should🙂 Head engine must be tightened according to specs.
Hi, The timing chain replacement applies to all Skyactiv 2.2 D engines. On newer models, there are some changes and improvements, you can use this video as well. That very engine is 2013MY.
Hi, you can not disassemble them those are precision units if disassembled need to be replaced, that is what is in the workshop manual, you can remove the oil pump from the balancer unit for the strainer or pump replacement.

How often to replace both chains? how can you tell if the chain needs replacing?
I've never replaced one, chains are very robust. if necessary replacement then you will hear noises but earlier a fault code related to correlation.

I'm not certain what you want to ask about. Every part you mentioned needs to be inspected before replacement.
