  • Review of my rare British Military Styled Diver with a "controversial" name. Take a look at a watch you may not see every day. It's a wonderful watch with a unique history. From what I have read, there are only 25 of these in this dial color (another 25 in black) in the wild.

Wonderful video on a wonderful vintage military diver!!! 👍 I think another reason why British military divers use NATOs pretty much exclusively is because they’re easy to slip onto the watch or remove, & with the CWC case you mentioned, it’s pretty much the only strap you can use because the case has non-removable lug bars rather than springbars.

You are 100% correct! The problem with doing unscripted videos is forgetting to mention things like the NATO and why they are used. Personally I have had a spring bar fail (In a lake and not this watch) and having two points of security was so important to the military. Great point, and thank you!

The reason why the MOD issued watches came on G10 Nato straps, is because they had fixed bars. Not only the CWC but also the Rolex (5517) and Omeage (Seamastr) prior to those as well as the field watches (W10 and G10)
Fixed bars were a requirement by the MOD to make sure, that the watch could not fall off especially during dives. With the combination of a Nato strap and fixed bars, there is practically no way one could lose the watch because of a spring bar failure or an issue with the bracelet.

The case form is based on the "Monnin" cases as are the cases by CWC.
Monnin was a case manufacturer who produced cases for different companies. The Heuer 844 also used that exact case.

This case is probably my favourite looking dive watch of all in PVD. So cool. This the CWC and the chronosports UDT ana Digi (which is very similar in case shape) are some of the best looking military watches.

I was just swapping out straps for it this morning. Even though I don't wear that often, I still am in love with it. The case shape is a "monin" case and were used for many watches over the years. Classic really....

I have this watch, in the black dialed version. Very comfortable to wear, very solid and accurate. Ideal size in all dimensions for everyday wear, and so far, very reliable, and has a high class feel to the movement, crown operation, setting. Really underrated watch. Congratulations on the orange dial, it’s very nice.

Saw the thumbnail and immediately thought CWC. That is a cool watch!
