@@ashkristina6826 I'm not saying this version sucks, she just makes it almost sarcastic and happy at points. That's why I said it was stagey. It borders on Streisand's Miss Marmelstein
@@80steen44 maybe just me but i definitely prefer "stagey" to "filmic" in a performance, even when filmed. theatre actors know how to convey thought and a world in a performance because their whole job is to be the most organic thing the audience is looking at. immerse me in the fantasy of it all, that's theatre, rather than selling me an illusion like the movies and tv do, theatre is what i like. she does that very effectively here!!
@@sorchamccarrey I dig stage performances too and I agree that many stage performances are more authentic than movie ones, and for the valid points you mentioned. I just think this one is a tad over the top. There's some others on CZcams that are recorded on the stage that I like quite a bit.
It always amazes me just how many singers don't wait after Neighborhood to rhyme it with no good. Channing in the film is the worst with it, although overall she does a great version. It's supposed to be Even though the neighbor-hood....thinks I'm trashy and no-good. Similar to the lines press against them when we dance....make them think they stand a chance. Or Take cold showers every-day....and throw my life a-way. It must be because it's part of the intro that people fail to realize that it's written with the same rhyme and rhythm
also btw idk if i am the only one thinking this but you bear a more than passing physical resemblance to meryl streep, you could definitely play a younger version of her if given the opportunity
@@hanaculbreath yeah, i wouldn't say it to most, but aside from looking like her you have a strong element of intellect in your acting that would play very plausibly onscreen or onstage as being of a piece with her acting. speaks to the strength of your work!
I am shocked at the lack of recognition...This is by far the best cover of this song I've seen...
Nah, it's good but too stagey, even with it being a stage song. I thought Vanessa Hudgens did a really good job
@@80steen44 she’s making up for the fact she doesn’t have stage space to make use of. It works great for a still cover.
