Ricky Starks hates being in AEW so much that even in this thumbnail he looks uncomfortable.
Also his little dig at Jericho on twitter yesterday was nice.

I know he's their boy, but I wish Konnan and Disco would keep it 100 with Jericho. He's like Randy the Ram if Randy had a money mark boss in the movie.
the reason why people have stopped watching AEW on TV and stopped buying tickets is simply because AEW is boring.
and people can say "oh, the way to watch wrestling has changed" and you'd be right. Problem is, AEW numbers on CZcams have massively dropped too.
Yeah their YT numbers are abysmal compared to 3 years ago.
This keeps up. In a few more weeks, even AEW Ups and Downs will stop.

I hate to agree with you. I’ve been a fan since day one but generally I turn off Dynamite halfway through. I don’t bother with the other shows anymore. If they start putting on bad PPVs they are done for.

Sad to see disco fall for the lame "nba" excuse. That fanbase isn't watching NBA, NFL, NHL etc. They are geeks. E3 or a playstation or comic con convention would effect ratings BEFORE SPORTS

The basketball playoffs are crushing this season though for sure. lol If anything that many extra eyes on the network should draw more people, but AEW doesn't know how to advertise, and even if they did they have nothing worth advertising.
There always seems to be some excuse for their ratings dropping: NBA/NHL Playoffs, World Series, The Grammys, reruns of Golden Girls, etc. If I remember right, people on twitter were actually using Matthew Perry's passing as an excuse for the ratings.

it's Tony Khan, he is the reason why AEW isn't doing well. I mean the guy has come out saying that Kevin Nash doesn't know what he's talking about. Kevin Nash, the man who's creative ideas CHANGED THE INDUSTRY, doesn't know as much as Tony Khan?!
Tony has hired a lot of promising talent. IMO he doesn't know what to do with those people. I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of those people go to NXT when their contract expires..

They were over 800 to 850 even with basketball so that’s no excuse. Their ratings were going down before the nba playoffs started. They got almost two more months before the playoffs conclude so they need to be better to draw better ratings

No, the wrestling they do just needs to matter more. Stakes, drama, heat, storytelling, climaxes, not random matchups.

You could do it in segments too like WWE but main roster WWE segments are too cheesy and fake-looking, give me 2018 NXT segments, short and realistic. Also the more you train your fans to expect those segments the more they want a campy variety show and NOT a pro-wrestling show.

Personally the casuals I talk to don’t really care about the wrestling, they care more about the promos and the characters.
@@phabiorules I don't care about "casuals", nor do I like the sports entertainment presentation. If they view promos as the end game rather than a tool to promote the actual end game (matches) then they like live variety shows, not pro wrestling. Of course WWE matches suffer from repetitive formulas, slow pacing, soft/fake looking hits and too much emphasis on the hard cam which makes moves look less impactful, but still. I don't get the 'casual" mindset.
Stop saying ratings are down because of NBA and NHL playoffs the playoffs happen same time every year, but ratings were not this low. The show sucks. The playoffs are on during WWE also their ratings are good.
if MJF comes back it's going to amount to nothing. They'll have to finish up MJF vs Adam Cole, they'll have to do the MJF vs Samoa Joe and he'll have to stop talking about WWE.
I kinda think that Mjf has creative control over his segments. Like how Y2J has over his angles. So hopefully Maxwell books himself with more intriguing storylines then what the Bucks do....

Anyone who’s actually in the business. Who took the time to learn it, get training, appear at events are all way bigger marks than any of the fans. Ppl who have retired from the business and do podcasts on it are way bigger marks than any of the fans lol

2 things can be true at once: mjf is missed, AND he was overexposed. Dude was feuding with the whole roster all at once and was in 3-5 segments minimum a show.

There was NBA and NHL playoffs last year, too. And the year before that. And the year before that.
You know, I've been in fantasy booking since 2001. If Tony would have been in any of the groups I had been involved in, he would have been heavily critiqued. Whoever he was writing with was just kissing his ass and they are the ones who are really to blame.

Having seen the key demo up close, I don’t believe for one second that the NBA or any other sporting event would lower AEW’s viewership. They sure don’t look like sports participants or fans. I am hating and stating.
Starks was getting over and was getting really hot and then Copeland came in and poured a bucket of ice on his heat and then they had him and Bill drop the belts to Darby and Sting ruining the whole run he can build it back up but it won't be in AEW

Swerve wins the title at a ppv, they don't have him come out and do a promo on the Dynamite after the ppv but they have him come out and do a promo on Collision. Imagine Sting in the 90s winning the WCW belt at a PPV and not cutting a promo on the next Nitro but instead, he comes out on WCW Saturday Night. Tony Khan is totally clueless.

I remember when AEW was "don't miss a minute Holy S*** call your friends Cody did something nuts." That was very early on and those were good times. Today replace WWE with AEW in terms of unpredictability.

What is Joe talking about? Literally the only way to watch AEW is in a vacuum. Nothing means anything, nothing builds in a way that is worth watching... what ever is happening at the moment has to be taken at face value, because the second you try to contextualize it you realize nothing makes sense or matters.
That is the internet mark style... the "dream match" style... the "i became a wrestling fan watching individual matches on CZcams" style... the Meltzer marks don't care about continuity, they only care about guys running spots.

Harry puts over the lamest ish. I'm not trying to be rude, but... dude, what kind of taste do you have to put over groan-worthy ish. He puts over stuff that other fans on here don't seem to agree with. Being a aew fan is fine but being an impartial wrestling fan is more honest imo. When something is good, its usully universal. When its bad, you defend it whike others are more objective and usually the ratings also depict it. Good is good and aew struggles with that. Sorry, had to say that.
